Refreashing
This book is very different from most other financial books in the sense that I was left with real life steps that should be taken. I felt I was more in control with my finacial picture. The book was fairly easy to read and I found very little fluff. I felt it was of help and I will use several of the strategies that Mr. Reed gives.

SHORT, CHEAP, AND WORTH EVERY PENNY
A MUST READ FOR ANYONE IN RECOVERY. This book may save your life along with your sobriety. Anything by Gorski is good, but since we have short attention spans, this one is short enough (about 24 pages)that you may be able to finish it. Read it before it's too late. I didn't, and I will (seriously) die because I didn't. You are not special and unique. You can make a list of your addictions in order of importance, and you'll go to the next one when you stop what you're doing now. Food and Love are second on a lot of lists, and you are getting your emotions back. You'll find that out once you read this. Test Step 3 once love hits. Even the First Step. They become your drug of choice (1), and you cannot control anyone (3), especially another addict. Imagine someone else trying to control you. But you can't stay away, you're addicted to them.

The choices we need to make over the next 25 years
This is an important albeit not uncontroversial contribution to the field of international political economy. The book tries to answer the question whether the world capitalist system is in crisis and the paths available for future world development. The works are firmly located within the world system thesis expounded by Wallerstein in many of his previous works.

The book intoruduces the concept of 6 vectors within which future paths can be examined. These are the inter-state system; world production; world labour force; human welfare; cohesion of states; and the structures of knowledge.

The book displays the weaknesses inherent in the world system thesis. These include overstating the degree of integration of the economies of the world and thus not taking into account the emergence of "non-states" run either by armed bandits or by organised crime.

The book does not deal adequately with the current state of the state. Given the debate around MNCs and their increasing expansion into areas which were the domain of the state this is an issue needing serious appraisal.

The depiction of this era as being a post US hegemonic era is also an area which will be contested by many writers, not least of all the Fukuyama's of the world.

Wallerstein concludes that the future depends onm how the following factors develop: * the extent to which there is loyalty to citizenship;

* the level of security through police order; the extent to which military orders are maintained; * level of welfare especially in relation to health and food distribution; * stability of religious institutions.

All "I" need to know about Play
I have been playing bridge for years but had little improvement before and now I know why.

I need a reference book that help me to tackle the common situations that come up in the play.

This book contains 14 chapters each deals with commonly encountered situations in bridge play. Each chapter has self-explanatory sub-headings that I can reference the materials very easily. Moreover, examples are illustrated under each sub-heading that help me to grasp the principles extremely fast.

Thanks to this book I find myself be a winner more often and enjoy the game much more than before. Its contents are really so practical that next time they can be used and every time they can be applied. It is a book that comprises the materials all I need to know about play.

Sweet Revenge
This surreal and funny artist's book is a collaboration between conceptual artist Terence Gower and writer Monica de la Torre, who have created an anthology of meaningless book marketing blurbs, reviews of dubious exhibitions, evil-spirited notes by editors rejecting manuscripts, and obsessional letters addressed to a psychiatrist. Presented as an appendix of ancillary material to a fictitious book, the texts take referentiality to a level of Borgesian absurdity. The humor is dry and understated, and it is only after rereading these pieces that the uncanny thread uniting these seemingly found and disjointed fragments becomes apparent. For anyone whose day-to-day encounters with discourse include texts riddled with jargon and psychoanalytical babble, "Appendices, Illustrations & Notes" offers a homeopathic antidote of sweet revenge on the slayers of language.

Why doesn't everyone teach bridge this way?
This little book uses a teaching strategy that one might think would be obvious: Explain what problems mean before showing readers how to solve them. The way it does so is to show how to play a hand before talking about bidding.

I remember how frustrated I was when I first learned how to play bridge: I had a bunch of rules dumped on me about how to bid, and had no conception of whether or not a bid made sense beyond seeing whether it followed those seemingly arbitary rules. If I had read this book then, it would have let me avoid all that frustration.

There is one point about which prospective readers of this book should be aware: It is based on British bidding style rather than American style. Nevertheless, I have absolutely no doubt that it deserves five stars, and should be much better known than it is.
