Sorry its out of print
I once heard this tape with a few of my friends about five years ago. I talk about McKenna constantly now, and feel like he has given me a bit of expertise in understanding the political manipulations of the psychodelic culture. McKenna has a force to his voice. He is able to argue unlike any other, and he makes you believe what he is saying, not only for a moment, but for life. He would tell you that psychodelics (drugs, meditation, art) open your mind while the government works hard to close it. You can decide for yourself if that is true, but let him make a beautiful arguement for you.

The Golden horseshoe
This has to be the best book on U-boats tactics to come out of ww2. The fact that Otto Kretschmer was the leading Ace of ww2 and led the way for others to follow makes this a must must have for my collection.

Truly a Success Story
I LOVED this book. I read a lot of poetry and don't normally come out with a lot of favorites, but he has given me a favorite poem here - Success Story. All of the poems are very cool and readable! (not too Irish too if you were wondering)

Destined to be a Classic
This book is a real treasure trove of information by the world's leaders in the different areas it covers. It's humble title belies the rich lode of distilled wisdom it's editors have brought together. If your goal is to have a handy, easily accessible source for information on mind-body approaches to a plethora of different diagnostic categories, this book is the most authoritative source I've ever seen. It has a wealth of information on mind body, biofeedback, applied psychophysiology, self regulation and hypnosis approaches. While there are other, less current books available covering similar ground, this one does it in a practical, economical manner, timewise, getting to the point. covering the bases soyou are not developing a relationship with the book-- just getting the info you need to do your job or better understand how to more effectively and appropriately make referrals.
As the current public information officer for the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, with 30+ years in the field, I consider myself an expert on who's who in the field. And this is one book that is full of the very best experts in their very specific areas.

Outrageous!
I've read the first page to a multitude of people and they simply don't know what to say. It starts off in the South Atlantic Ocean in Admiralty Bay with US Navy's "Operation Deep Freeze" with a "something" that "suddenly came roaring up out of the sea through no less than 37 feet of ice, and went on up into the sky like a vast silvery bullet(!)"

I've read the first two chapter 3 times now and maybe after finishing this book report, I can get on to the other chapters. The is jammed packed with late 1960's open-minded research and questions that begged explainations. Another great quote comes with the usual footnotes on page 14.

"Why should a Navy man know that a ridge 50 miles long by 15 miles wide rose 2 1/4 miles overnite in the South Atlantic in 1924? Ridiculous! This was of concern only to the cable companies." Enjoy!...

Great Compelation of Jefferson's Writings
This is a really a great collection of Thomas Jefferson's views on liberty, slavery, democratic government, social policy in a republic, education, etc. Forget all of the "interpretations" or "revisionist" histories by professional historians, instead pick up this book and read about one of the greatest philosophers of human liberty and democracy. Reading Jefferson in his original words without the personal views of the historical crowd really brings out his true vision for a great republic. A great buy.

Strong Collection
This volume is a welcome addition to the various editions of Jefferson's writings available. Although many of the selections may be found in the Library of America edition, this work conveniently arranges them topically. In addition, there are many pieces *not* available anywhere else. Perhaps the most valuable aspect of the work is the large and informative list of short biographies in front. The only real drawback I can see is the exclusion of some important documents, most notably his draft of the Kentucky Resolutions of 1798. But on the whole, it's great, and it should appeal to most serious Jeffersonians.

Less than the Sum of Its Parts
A raggle-taggle collection of reviews and essays with no real unifying theme or drive - except a relative interest in matters Irish - this book has nevertheless done that most rare and testing of things in a collection of book reviews - it has persuaded me to buy not one but two of the books under review. Mahon's several pieces on McNeice make that out of fashion figure of interest to the non-Irish and non afficionado. There is a fun profile of Anthony Burgess and much memorabilia of literary youth at Trinity etc. There is everywhere an urbane sense of what the literary life is and how such and such a writer may have come to such or such a bad end or occasional lapse. Solid book reviews which are rewarding to dip into and a civilised, gentle tone throughout. How many essay collections can you say that of?

A dream book for Szyk Fans and wannabes
Arthur Szyk was a popular illustrator of the mid-twentieth century who had experienced a great resurgence in popularity in recent years. With good reason too -- his style is unique, striking, bold, brilliant (enough superlatives?). Furthermore, Szyk was intensely political and he lent his talent to fight the main issues of his day -- anti-fascism, freedom and tolerance. His art can still stir the conscience. Irvin Ungar is a leading authority in Szyk and well qualified to introduce you to his work. Fans will be delighted and wannabes will learn what they have been missing.

Kant's Critique of Pure Reason a Commentary for Students
Published in Paperback by Oxford Univ Pr (1986)
Author: Terence Edward Wilkerson

Used price: $10.59

More than for beginners
This book is a commentary on Kant¡¯s ¡®Critique of Pure Reason¡¯, supposed to be read by beginners. But it could be read on its own for it doesn¡¯t rely on Kant¡¯s reasoning to be a coherent text. This book presents the reader not only the nub of Kant¡¯s book, but the validity of Kant¡¯s reasoning with author¡¯s attesting. Kant¡¯s thought is presented not to be memorized but to be testified. As Kant did in his three ¡®Critiques¡¯ including ¡®Critique of Pure Reason¡¯, Kant¡¯s own argument should be questioned or, in Kant¡¯s word, criticized, ¡®How is it possible?¡¯ For example, as much as possible, the author refrains from using Kant¡¯s terminology on its own. Terminology itself should be introduced and used with sufficient grounding. When there has been enough grounding, the author begin to use Kant¡¯s terminology. Grounding terminology means founding Kant¡¯s argument. Terminology is no more than culmination of the argument. Terminology is no more than the summary of argument.
To criticize Kant¡¯s argument, the author summarizes Kant¡¯s argument into a few simple points, and tackles them with delicate analyses in the word and examples we are more familiar than Kant¡¯s. with following through the process, we could catch the intrinsic meaning of Kant¡¯s arguments which we think we already know enough, but in fact doesn¡¯t understand. Moreover, if Kant¡¯s argument doesn¡¯t seem plausible, the author not only attacks the weakness of it, but reconstructs it to be acceptable. In so doing, though Kant has been dissected and denounced by innumerable commentators, the author shows that Kant is still the admirable and worth reading philosopher.
