This is a fine story..
This is one of those rare books you're really glad you bought because it's worth reading twice. Buy this book! Definately one of the best I've read in a long time. This is what great storytelling is all about.

A gourmet feast for the famished reader.
Terrance M. Green has delivered a crisp, profound, articulate and genuine look at life's journey. Through Martin Radey we learn of youthful mistakes, missed opportunities, and painful choices that haunt unto death, but are buoyed by the promise of redemption and second chances. Upon his death, he surveys his life and the life of his family, and the look is insightful, sometimes painful, always real and recognizable. Mr. Green has a writing style that flows in it's unique cadence, drawing his reader in at first sentence. Though short in page, his book is long in quality, style and substance. It must be read morsel by morsel and not devoured, as the reader's appetite is appeased by succulent descriptions and zestful words. Dessert is the truths realized in the story. In short, " A Witness to Life" is a gourmet feast. Bon Appetite!!

Evocative, and beautifully written
It's hard when a book is set in the town you grew up in to know whether you are reacting to the book on its own merits or simply because all the familiar places have a special resonance for you. But I think anyone would enjoy this terrific book, even if they've never been to Toronto. Greene's characters will keep you glued to the page.

Rendered in an exquisite Latin
Arbor Alma/The Giving Tree In Latin by Shel Silverstein is the profound and simple story of a lifelong relationship between a boy and a tree who happily responds to the boys's every need. As the boy grows to become an old man and, (from branches to trunk) diminishes the tree's stature with his continuing requests, both the human and the tree find themselves transformed -- yet the tree remains happy. An evocative and engaging parable, The Giving Tree is rendered in an exquisite Latin which wonderfully complements Shel Silverstein's original story and illustrations, adding an unexpected and very welcome dimension to a multifaceted classic with its ageless and timeless appeal.

Children's Classic in the True Sense
I was first introduced to Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" as a young child, and immensely enjoyed the tale of the tree who cared so very much for the little boy. Just recently, I was given a copy of "Arbor Alma" - "The Giving Tree" in Latin. Seeing the story itself brought back fond memories, but seeing it in Latin gave it a fresh appeal. Having taken Latin in high school, and also being aided by the user-friendly glossary of terms in the back of the book, I was taken back to the story of the caring tree with new zeal. This book would be a wonderful way to introduce children to the Latin language, which has so influenced our world today and continues to provide advantages to students in grammar, vocabulary, and understanding. While still staying clear, the book introduces any reader to the complexities of the Latin language in word order, grammar, etc. Think of it as a first step towards reading the Classics - the actual Latin of Ancient Roman poets, playwrights, and scholars. I would highly recommend "Arbor Alma" to any age group, because it connects a beautiful story with a beautiful language.

Glorious images that are a delight to see. Generous space on each day's block for notes. Good quality paper. We recycle the pages to wrap small items - striking giftwrap when the year's up.

Astronomy Magazine Calendar
This is a great calendar for Astronomy buffs. The pictures and images are great, accompanied by detailed explanations of what they depict. The calendar itself includes not just the expected references to various holidays, but also references to various astronomical and celestial events (meteor showers, etc.), both current and historical. Highly recommended!

Great Calendar
I have been a fan of Astronomy and am an amateur astronomer. I love the pictures in this calendar. They are spectacular. I will definitely continue to purchase the Astronomy Calendars.

Great stuff
I've been a fan of the Astronomy calendar series for 2 years now and, judging by that history, I'm sure that this one will be just as good. I'm not just talking about the pictures, but the information as well. I'm ordering the 2003 edition today, so this review is based on previous history of this series.

See The Movie "Illtown" w/ Lili Taylor and Michael Rappaport
That movie was based on this book. I know this is probably promoting illiteracy and the ills of television, but if you like independents it's a good one. I haven't read the book. I DO READ quie a bit, but was inspired to check out the book because of the movie. The movie meanders a bit, so be prepared. Sorry I havent read the book yet but when I do I'll come back and report on what I thought

because it's about cocaine ,of course
this book was cool and rad and all that stuff niga i liked it because it was about cocaine

A valuable way of charting the funeral journey
This book charts the funeral journey and more than familiarizes the reader with the new Order of Christian Funerals. It is very readable and reaches those who want to prepare funeral liturgies by keeping in mind the ministry of consolation. This is a valuable tool for those interested in explaining and implementing meaningful aspects of separation and loss. Provisions are made for ways to prepare the liturgies. There is also an excellent schematization of the funeral journey. This is a unique commentary for ministry.

A practical commentary for funerals and grief ministry.
This book puts the funeral into perspective according to the new Order of Christian funerals. It is a resource for parish ministry. It takes the reader through the actual funeral journey. It has an innovative approach to the expression of loss through ritual.

Terence Kealy is Adam Smith of XX century
It is a most systematical and wonderfully written apology for the introduction principles of market economy in the policy of basic science funding. The bad news: The logical application of this theory will resulted in the elimination of all economically uneffective state funded science agencies. The good news: This action will dramatically increase salary of good scientists. Why? Read this excellent book. All explanations are there. After publication of this book the future of system of State Socialism in Academia looks very dark. The best time for the system of state slavary is over.

A brilliant history of the roots of scientific progress
Wow! A marvellously entertaining book, despite the horribly boring title. This must be one of the best exposures of the destructiveness of Big Government yet. Anyone who thinks that the free market is OK for making shoes and pizzas but that the really "serious stuff" like scientific research wont happen unless paid for by government should get a load of this book. From Roman times, through the Industrial Revolution to the present, the author shows that nearly all the important scientific and technological advances in history have come from private sources, from tradesmen or industrialists who had a "problem" and needed to fix it, and not from tax-funded laboratories. Worse than that, the more government has spent on science the slower has been economic growth. Should be required reading for all Ministers for Science Policy, not to mention Prime Ministers, Presidents and Heads of Treasuries.

Entheogens? Yes!
This is a great book for anyone interested in this subject, whether initiate or not. It provides insight from a number of the initial 20th century pioneers, as well as gives us a window into the inner ritual as performed by the more rural indian "initiates". I would recommend this book to anyone interested in using entheogens, writing about entheogens, or anyone who has used them previously and would like a better understanding of their experience. I especially liked the different perspectives such as referring to their experiences as just that-personal experiences rather than simply hallucinations, which implies something false or nonexistant. It provides a profound respect for these experiences rather than a complete dismissal of the experience as nonsense, as our governments and "health" agencies may be tempted to do.

Great Panoramic Introduction
If you want a number of perspectives on the serious use of psychedelics, this is the book! Christian, Buddhist, spiritual, scientific and legal considerations on the subject are presented.

As an anthology, it will familiarize you with key figures in the contemporary psychedelic scene.

This is an intelligent book for people wanting to explore psychedelics for spiritual purposes. It is not a book for "stoners" who just want to trip to see "pink bunnies"
