Amazing Photography
This book was incredible: helpful, cohesive, and stunningly written. However, the most attractive part of the collection has to be the photography. Each photo not only captures the spirit of the image shot, but captures the imagination as well. Mayer does a fabulous job of grasping the essence of Trulove's verbal images in his work. This book is a must-have, not only for the coffee table anthology, but as a feast for the eyes.

The Unknown Polish-American Hero.
James S. Pula's book is an excellent source for those interested in the American and/or Polish History. It is devoted to Thaddeus Kosciuszko's life and accomplishments. At the same time it presents a brief history of Poland dating from prehistoric times, through times of monarchy, Liberum Veto, anarchy to the three partitions of Poland and historical events up to 1817-the year of Kosciuszko's death. The book is also an examination of some major battles of the American War of Independence (defense of Philadelphia, Saratoga, West Point, etc.). It contains very interesting pieces of correspondence between Kosciuszko and his best American friends-Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Gen. Horatio Gates. Kosciuszko's biography is presented with careful attention to detail. Pula presents many facts from Thaddeus' personal life that are not widely known and which make the Polish-American hero very human and very likable. Also, it contains three appendices: Kosciuszko's Will, and translations of Kosciuszko's Act of Insurrection, and Polaniec Manifesto (Uniwersal Polaniecki). Overall, the book is well-researched, with very interesting content, and written in simple (and elegant) English. It is a great reading material for scholars and high school students alike.

What makes this book interesting is that it was written between the murders and the trial. Huie knew who the murderers were, how they did it, and never expected a guilty verdict.

The book introduces you in detail to Michael (Mickey) Schwerener and all the details leading up to his murder. This detail will help you understand exactly why and how these murders took place.

This latest edition includes updates by the author to compare his early speculation against the results of the trial.

The guide to creating exotic new missions for James Bond 007
As Role Playing Game supplements go, this one has all the elements of a "must-have". Along with the Q-Manual and Basic game, this add-on shows once again the high quality of gaming materials Avalon Hill has become known for. Being the last supplement published for the highly underrated role playing game featuring the world's greatest spy, "Thrilling Locations" is one of the jewels of the collection. (As a side note, Avalon Hill was purchased by Hasbro Interactive in 1998 and it has become unclear what will happen to the James Bond 007 roleplaying franchise as the company is restructured to fit Hasbro's business model.)

If you play the James Bond roleplaying game, and particularly if you are a game master, this is an invaluable resource. One can find in-depth information about the ritzy locations and high-priced vehicles James Bond would encounter in one of his most extravagant missions in Her Majesty's Secret Service. From casinos to restaurants, yachts to jets, this book gives in-depth descriptions and game stats on the most expensive of Bond locations and vehicles. One can also find the bios and stats of the people who can afford to live such an outrageous lifestyle, or those work for them. This softcover book features color photos and the information is surprisingly accurate, as the book was written with the cooperation of the actual establishments and manufacturers it features.

"Thrilling Locations" also contains the rules and game mechanics for a host of games of chance that players may encounter in the game, including roulette, blackjack, and of course, baccarat.

After reading this very enjoyable book, one truly knows a little more about how it would feel to stand in the shoes of the man known as "Bond... James Bond."

Definitive story of the Ukrainian Volunteer Division in WW2.
There are a number of historical accounts of the Ukrainians that served in the German Waffen-SS from 1943 to 1945. Michael James Melnyk's "To Battle: The Formation and History of the 14th Galician Waffen-Ss Division" is by far the best and most accurate history to date.
He gives a balanced account of the reasons behind the Nazi creation of the division and the motivations of the Ukrainians that eventually joined and fought for the Third Reich. It is a complex tale that Melnyk relates. Hopefully, it it will help dispell the misinformation about the Ukrainian division that are spread by those sympathetic or hostile to those that served in the division.

Lastly, the book contains many never before seen photographs of the division during training and combat.

This book is a must for anyone that is at all fascinated by the foreign volunteer formations that fought for the Germans during world war 2.

a fine collection
I recently came across this book and was thrilled at what I read. Rosen is a wonderful storyteller, his poems are spun seamlessly. Although his use of language is fairly conventional, it is full of surprises. I highly recommend this to any poetry reader who is looking for a book that will reinvigorate your belief in the power of common speech.

Vampirism: Literary Tropes of Decadence and Entropy
Published in Hardcover by Peter Lang Publishing (01 January, 2001)
Author: Michael James Dennison
Amazon base price: $47.95
Average review score:

Eloquent literary criticism
Dennison's prose transcends the muddled complexity of what is often a too reasoned literary abstraction to discover a language achieved through the balanced exchange of intellectual clarity and poetic insight. The wisdom of his argument is the result of both an idea and an uncanny accuracy found in the language born of that idea; i.e., an exploration whose development reveals both the mythically charged landscape of the occult and of vampirism's sociological and psychological implications in the actual.
