Brilliant Elvis-Jesus Deconstruction
Author AJ Jacobs nails genius Eric White illustrations of Elvis & Jesus to satirical crosses in order to rightfully outrage the millions of humorless freaks who brainlessly worship them. I read about the Elvis freaks complaining to book store managers. White's illustrations deserve framing, as a tribute to him and the writing that inspired it.

laugh out loud!
This irrevent comparison between Jesus and Elvis is hysterically funny! (Jesus was a Jew/Elvis played raquetball at the Jewish Community Center) The illustrations are great too. I can't believe it's out of print!

The San Francisco Punk Scene told in Photographs.
When I first heard about this Book, I eagerly awaited it's arrival. An Excellent documentation of the Looks and visual attitude that was unique to the San Francisco Scene. Even though the Photos include LA, London and NYC Stars, that original San Francisco feeling still emerges overall. It cries out for more books exploring it's values different from other Punk or Rock scenes. But at least we have Jim's Excellent Documentations and memories. Hopefully More Books coming from him in the future!

before punk fashion was sold at the mall......
....the West Coast punk rock scenesters created a style that looks surprisingly fresh and edgy even today: pink 60s leather coats, striped tees, shredded preppy button-ups, busted jeans, high heels with anklets, asymetrical haircuts, teddy boy coats, geometric print 80s, shrunken suits w/ skinny ties, and more. This is a great book for DIY fashion ideas-- from a time when ripped tee-shirts didn't cost $75 at trendy boutiques and jeans didn't come pre-sandpapered.

While the Java portion assumes the reader is using the Sun JDK and the HTML is version 3, this book offers 6 of the most popular web related programming topics in one, easy to read manual. The greatest aspect of this book is that it is a reference manual, and as such all entries are alphabetical within their respective area. Finally I have a better understanding!
It reads very easily and you feel right along with Jacob on his journey to understand the Messiah of Israel. I pray that everyone would have an encounter with a person like Jeff. To me, the biggest question regarding the New Testament that Jeff asks is "How can you (the Jews) have such a fixed idea regarding something that you do not know anything about? How can you issue such a terrible verdict on Yeshua and on the New Covenant, when you do not have the faintest idea about them? It's too bad that you condemn a book that you have never seen." Jacob replies "We Jews are forbidden even to hold that book in our hands! It's a Gentile book, and we must not defile our hands with it." I didn't know the Jews felt this way. God says seek and you shall find. For all of us we must look for the answers ourselves, not take some other person's word as truth. This is such an eye-opening book and I do believe that everyone who reads this book will have a better understanding of the Jewish faith with love. God Bless You Jacob, Thank you.

Praise be to God!
Jacob Damkani has written an excellent book of apologetics for why Jesus is the Messiah. I particularly enjoyed the insight on the Jewish faith. I found it sad to realize how far away many Jews are from their Father and how they just miss the true joy and happiness they could have by getting to know Him personally. I was very helped by the book to realize the difficulties and obstacles the Jew faces. Thanks you, Jacob for your honesty in portaying what went on for you and how Jesus can change lives, even today! Praises be to God!

This book manages to capture a lot of those images and feelings, tracing the history of Wrigley Field and getting lots of insight from fans, players, coaches and more about what makes it special. Gorgeous photos throughout punctuate an excellent narrative. A must for fans of ballpark books.

The best text for dummies on child intellectual development
I haven't even finished the book yet and I'm raving. The author strikes a perfect balance between too dogmatic ("do it this way"), and too technical ("studies have shown..."). Dr. Jacob cites many studies and experiments to support his points, but does not leave you to wallow in information overflow. He then recommends specific activities you can engage your baby in to enhance intellectual development. No silver bullets, no unsubstantiated claims, but a well examined and researched theory and practice for the lay person. I'm buying several copies for friends and relatives who are interested in giving their baby the best care like I do for my 11 month old daughter. I only wish I had read it sooner!

Every expectant/new parent should read this book
This book highlights the rapid developmental changes your baby goes through from birth through the first 24 months of life. The book guides parents on how to help their child develop cognitive skills. It does not dictate what your child should have accomplished by month 3 or 6, etc. as other development books. Rather, it helps you recognize children develop at different speeds and as a parent you need to realize what stage of development the child is in, then use the learning games in the book to help your child learn to learn.

We loved it and look forward to using the outlined techniques with our baby.

Fascinating - academic and easy-to-read at the same time
It is not easy for an academic study, especially for one on such a specialized topic which few people know about, to be entertaining at the same time, and easy-to-read for the average cultured person. Yet, this study does manage to do this. Even for those of us who have only basic knowledge of Hasidism, Zen Buddhism and their histories, this book provides a fascinating journey into these two wonderful religions, on their similarities and differences. Truly a wonderful study and a wonderful book to read.

An Expert Study!
A fascinating book from a wonderful and fascinating man. Jacob Teshima is a Japanese Christian born in Korea, who became a star disciple of the late and great Abraham Joshua Heschel. His grasp of Hasidism is phenomenal and he effectively proves that despite external similarities, there are great differences in depth between Hassidism and Zen Buddhism. He has the rare advantage of approaching Hasidism by learning the original texts rather then second hand sources. It is no wonder that the influence of Dr. Heschel is felt throughout this book. An invaluable guide to serious scholars.
