Now you can find happiness as intended by God.
This book is for everyone who is asking the question, "Is it possible to find true happiness?" This is a book on basics. We all have access to the Bible, the Word of God and the Holy Spirit as our counselors.(page 13). Romans 12:2, it is the mind that needs to change. Dr. Solomon shares his life. Many of us can identify with the ups and downs of depression. God reminds me that "My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts." Dr. Solomon answers many questions on how to address our feelings. What is rejection and its results, page 18? What is the cure for rejection, page 20? Who are you? On what do you base your identity, page 20+? When the joy dissapears, why? What should I do or what didn't I do, page 64? My responsibility is to study and look to Christ. His responsibility is to reveal the life of the Lord Jesus in me, page 80. Nothing man has will lead to happiness, so why not follow the way of God? "You shall know the Truth and the Truth will set you free." John 8:32 and the fruit of the Spirit is joy, peace...Galatians 5:22 Life is a journey - a spiritual journey. We use a physical map for a physical journey, so why not use a spiritual map for a spiritual journey? This book is to the Bible as trip sheets are to a physical map. Dr. Solomon shows me where I am and how to follow the path to life and truth.

The sun also sets
Two women travel about the Coral Sea painting portraits of natives and visiting plantations there in the late '30's. To us, the names of these then and now peaceful tropical places are loaded with horror and regret: Guadalcanar, Rabaul, Bougainville. Prophetically Mytinger details an incident on a British copra plantation in a world vanished away like smoke: the missus kicks a bush boy for using cocoanut husks on the fire, which burn too brightly. "Can every English clergyman's daughter kick like a kangaroo?" asks Caroline. Later the copra shed burns down mysteriously, ruining the missus. Her husband had died some time before and her thumb was infected. "It was the fact that she did not throw her head on the table and sob like any woman that undid me. I went for a walk down on the beach and did it for her."

An indispensable and clearly organized one-of-a-kind guide
This guide to buying plants, tools, and educational materials for the home-gardner is filled with highly useful and descritptive material about the particular sources' catalogs. What I found most useful and clear was the common-sense organization by type of plant cross-referenced by source and by geographical area. This is a grreat way to let your fingers do thje walking in acquiring great stuff for the garden.

Author Grows Through Tribulation
An excellent portrait of the author's relationship with her father, who becomes leader of a Mormon Fundamentalist group. While the pressures he bears brings growth to many in the extended family, Dorothy feels the weight coming down between her and her father, seemingly severing them - eternally.

Through her journey into adulthood, she finally sees her father's true love for his wives and children, even all the group members, a revelation that shakes her unsteady convictions.

With a forboding sense of doom, he allows her to chronicle his last days...

A beautiful story of transformation.

Excellent study of the "Exchanged Life" model of counseling
For the Christian Counselors and counselees, this is a core book on the "Exchanged Life" model, Galatians 2:20. Page 54 states "Alienation from the love of God is man's basic problem; reconciliation to God along with the restoration of His love and acceptance is the only complete answer." Some of the other authors who also write on the "Exchanged Life" approach are: Steve McVey, Bill Gillham, Andrew Murray, Charles Trumbull, Roy Hession, Bob George, David Seamands, Watchman Nee. This book explains when and how my dysfunctional coping skills began, what is the answer to understanding myself, how to change my life. This is a foundational book that explains the theory, terms and practice of the "Exchanged Life." How will you answer the question Jesus asked the crippled man in John 5:6 (page 32), "Do you want to be healed?" For me this book was an excellent start towards this healing process.

A great account of a G.I. at Guadalcanal
This was a great book. It really enhanced one's respect for medics, stretcher-bearers, wire carriers (of whom I knew nothing prior to reading this), and all G.I.'s in general. I saw THE THIN RED LINE afterwards, and understood it much more than I would have been able to thanks to this book. It was excellent.

Superb Introduction to Philosophy
Robert C. Solomon's "Introducing Philosophy" is a superb introduction to philosophy. I have the 6th edition published in 1997 but this (the 5th edition) is the only one I could find on Amazon. This book is so good because it takes a Topical approach but integrates excerpts from the great philosophers. Historical introductions don't give you the intelletual excitement of great thinkers across time addressing the great problems which is why I like a topical approach (another good topical approach is Tom Morris's "Philosophy for Dummies"). But the great thing about this book is that it integrates selections from philosophers throughout history, in manageable chunks, so that one gets to read some Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, Descartes, Locke, Hume, Kant, Stuart Mill, Bertrand Russell and more.

The chapters are also very well organized and build on each other. The introduction introduces us to Socrates and the philosophic tradition and some logic. Then we deal with Reality, Knowledge, Truth, Necessary Truth (mathematics, logic), Religion, Personal Identity, Mind and Body, Freedom, Ethics, Political Philosophy and Aesthetics. So everything is covered and there are excerpts from all the relevant thinkers on these topics. This book is a fantastic way to get a really good feel for the issues of philosophy and some of the great writings in philosophy. Highly recommended.

Excellent read!
Being an IT professional, I have looked for some time for an easy-to-understand book on the various wireless technologies. I just came upon this book a very short while ago and am amazed! This book presents the major wireless topics in a clear manner. It also covers the major emerging wireless technlogies like WAP, Bluetooth, etc. And, it even provides some informative exercises to get the knoweledge down "pat". I have read many books lately, but this one is a real "keeper" (and I am generally hard to please).
