The best recipes for quick entertaining.
This is a recipe book for quick dips, spreads and appetizers that take less than 20 minutes to fix. Most of them serve 6 - 8 guests, but I have been able to increase it as needed. All of the recipes that I tried everyone loved and I have been asked for several recipes. This is THE cookbook that I reach for when I'm planning to have friends over. I highly recommend it.

excellent organization, concise yet complete
I bought it at a sports medicine conference where all the major publishers had similar titles, and this was was the best. This one has a great "break"down of what you need to know, to refer, to treat, to watch for. Best bang for your buck especially if you have another text to complement it.

FDR Goes to War with the Supreme Court
This is a very long book (563 pages of text), but it may well be the definitive study of the 1937 court-packing controversy. Professor McKenna, emeritus University of Calgary, has devoted many years to the research and writing of the volume. Her research is comprehensive and impeccable, involving not only published sources but original sources such as manuscript collections, oral histories, and interviews. The author develops some fresh insights in discussing the Court's decisions adverse to the New Deal that prompted FDR's reaction, drawing upon recent research by Barry Cushman and Ted White. Ms. McKenna is extremely critical of FDR, not only because she contends his administration's sloppily drafted laws helped cause the problems that irked the Court, but also in terms of a cavalier legislative strategy that the author feels guaranteed defeat of the proposal in Congress. While perhaps better editing could have reduced the book's length [the author admits that 100 pages already had been edited out by the publisher], this book offers some valuable insights into the court-packing controversy and should be required reading for anyone seriously interested in this topic.

Well-written and true to the era
Devon is one of the best regency writers writing. In a genre in which quality of writing doesn't seem to be at a premium, Marian Devon's books are truly refreshing. They are not as historically detailed as Heyer's, but are true to the Regency era in charactization and setting. Charming and recommended!

The Versatile Collie Surprises Again!
First and Foremost this is NOT a Childrens Book. It is a wonderful book written by a blind woman as a tribute to her Guide Dog, GUNTER. I purchased this book directly from Marian Modlin and was delighted to have an autographed picture of Marian and Gunter enclosed. She tells the story of her life with Gunter in a lovely and easy to understand manner but to restrict this to a childrens book is terribly wrong. As a Collie owner and lover I have included this book in my adult library. Please put it in the adults book section as this is a means of income for this pair. Thank You!

For anyone who has ever wondered why there are left handers
Marian Annett has produced in her second edition of her original work, an excellent and sophisticated explanation of how the prevalence of left handedness remains within our society.
Her work offers an explanation of how, and why there are a consistent minority of left handers in existence. The book focuses on her `right shift` theory, an extremely plausible account of Brain Asymetry. A must for any degree level student of Psychology.

Excellent resource for Health and Physical Educ. Teachers!
I am the SADD advisor in our school building and used Section 13 "Substance Abuse." It has great lists to hand to my students at the start of every meeting. This book offers a way for teachers, parents, etc. to find quick answers to questions about everything from "Systems of the Body" to "Violence Prevention." I recommend this book to anyone, especially those who teach about health.
