Excellent Book for Exam Revision
I have just spent the last month revising for my medical exams and have found Bray et al an indespensible component of my study regime. The book presents complex topics in a simple understandable format. I would not hesitate to recommend it to any of my fellow students. It gets a double thumbs up from me!!

Forget the rest, Bray is the best.
Bray et.al is the best physiology text avaliable today. This text clearly presents a range of physiological topics and is well written by the learned staff of the Otago University Physiology Dept. Prof. Bray is to be commended for his concise and accurate editorial style. I found the figures particularly understandable and loved thier minimalistic style. A MUST for every med student and those interested in how the body functions. I look forward to the next edition.

My new relationship with my children
Thank you so much for reminding me of the important things in my life. My parenting has changed tremendously. I am no longer the anxiety filled mother of two trying to juggle all of the responsibilities, feeling like nothing was getting all of the attention it should. I am now a mom that loves each and every minute that I spend with my children. And worry about all of the less important stuff, that will still be waiting patiently at the end of my day, out of my mind. I can't express just how much it changed my life in 1,000 words or less, but, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This book gives a wonderful view from a childs perspective!
My mother in law gave me this book and I pass it on to other moms as a gift. It helped to remind me that the things I think are important aren't always what matters to a child. I also thought it expresses beautifully the way children view the world. One very special passage helped to show me that the things I do "right" for my child far outweigh all the things I feel guilty about. This book is bound to touch the heart of any mom.

Roland Johnson helps us all "find a voice"
Roland Johnson's LOST IN A DESERT WORLD, An Autobiography (as-told-to Karl Williams) captures the reader in understanding the root of leadership...in a new kind of civil rights movement: The self-advocacy movement for people with disabilities.

Each time I read Roland's story, I have a new lesson to learn about a hard life, but about a life that surfaced it's way toward "finding a voice" for all of us. Remarkably, while Roland tells his story: how his parent's decided it was necessary to place Roland at a state institution and how he was treated there, the reader can "see" Roland's insight as if he was understanding all sides to his own story and that he did not succumb to the decisions made for him by others. Roland, instead, rose to every occasion, personal event and tragedy and taught us all that the grimmer side of a life can be turned around. Through Roland's autobiography, he showed us that self-reflection and focusing on a speck of light through seemingly whole darkness can lead us in a more positive direction. Roland talked about "a shyness within himself", and I believe we all contain that, in part, as a way to develop our inner self-esteem and self-respect. That inner shyness has its rewards - as Roland showed us - that once we develop that voice, once we find it, we can make things happen for ourselves - for people with disabilities.

LOST IN A DESERT WORLD, also available on audio, provides an opportunity for listeners and readers to learn about a significant national self-advocacy leader and to reflect on our individual lives in ways that may be ordinarily difficult. Anyone who reads Roland's story should find hope and inspiration, and perhaps, a new way to take direction for him or herself. Karl Williams masterfully puts Roland's story down in a deservingly and highly respectable manner, using Roland's authentic voice - only putting order to Roland's hard but eloquent words as he spoke.

Roland's Johnson's autobiography, LOST IN A DESERT WORLD: Reading or hearing this story provides a wonderful message for people to learn about the self-advocacy movement while also allowing the reader to absorb in a powerfully concrete method for self-reflection - for who they are, where they came from and for deciding the direction in which they should lead - or - follow.

Must-read for anyone in the MH/MR field
Karl Williams brings Roland Johnson to life--exactly as I knew him more than 25 years ago, but what I learned about Roland from reading the book brought me to tears and anger about what we used to do to people who were lableled "different", and yet joy at what he was able to accomplish through a positive attitude and a willingness to put himself in a leadership role to help others. I recommend as must reading to any Human Service student or worker who wants an entertaining short history of where the mental retardation field was just 2 generations ago and where we're going thanks to self-help pioneers like Roland. For all of us who have toiled in this vineyard for more than 20 or 30 years, it will remind us why we entered this field in the first place. A great read!!!!

Must have reference!
Want to know a little more about hurricanes? Air pollution? Thunderstorms? Stull presents terrific synopses of many meteorological topics. He doesn't try to be the expert in every sub-specialty in the field; instead, he provides the basic material and encourages the reader to seek additional information from expert books and web sites. I'm currently taking a class in atmospheric transport and diffusion. Stull summarizes the course material and leads me to references I didn't know existed. I'm ordering this book as a reference now and as a starting point for future study.

Excellent all-encompassing book!
This is the most complete introductory-advanced book I have seen to date. It covers many pertinient subjects. Important meteorological concepts are explained in enough detail to satisfy even the more advanced users, but simple enough to give the beginner excellent insight. These concepts do not have to be presented in a difficult fashion to make the author appear intelligent - he makes a bold, simple statement by taking tough concepts and making them understandable to the masses!

Mindtraps: Mastering the Inner World of Investing

So Good I Republished It.
This book covers the psychological topic of judgemental heuristics and behavioral finance in a way that most people will have no trouble understanding it. The author covers 88 different mindtraps, ranging from the need to be "in control" to the need to be right. It's a must for any serious investor.

This book is so good that my company republished it in 1996.

This book is the first investment any investor should make!
This book is the very best there is concerning the psychology of investing. It is based on actual research by clinical psychologists in the area of decision making and investing. Even though it has a very meaty and serious undertone it is also very witty. You will find yourself laughing and thinking "Oh god I've done that" at the same time. The book is also well written and easy to read without losing context. If you are ever going to invest during your life you should buy this book!

An excellent resource
The "New Jerome Biblical Handbook" remains one of the most important books to come out of religious publishing in some time. It is an absolute essential for the busy clergyman who does not have the time for the in-depth reading and studying required for the far more academic "New Jerome Biblical Commentary". It will also make a worthy addition to the personal shelf of any informed layperson who wishes to become more biblically literate. It should also be found in every parish library.

What the "Handbook" does, is condense and distill the dense and academic material in the "Commentary" and present it in an easily recoverable fashion. The reader will gain insights into every book of the Bible, as well as into the basics of modern critical methodology, without requiring the technical training of the academic or seminarian.

From a theological standpoint, the "Handbook" could best be described as "moderate", rejecting both the anti-intellectualism of the fundamentalist far right as well as the deconstructionist tendencies of the far left. The editors did their work well in presenting a balanced picture of the best of modern biblical scholarship in an easy to read and comprehend format.

Certainly worth 5 stars.

The Best Companion for the Best Bible Commentary
I heartily recommend this book to all those who wanted a quick reference about the Bible! Maybe viewed as a supplementary to the NJBC, I find this book a handy one to bring along during my theology classes, and a useful tool for easy reading. The best handbook made for the best bible commentary! It has charts and visuals not usually found in the NJBC, which I think helps summarize and condense the immense scholarly works found in the NJBC.A great Companion to NJBC!

The New Oxford Annotated Bible
Since there are so many versions of the Bible today I asked my Pastor to suggest a 'good study' bible. She suggested the The New Oxford Annotated Bible. I have found it easy to read with excellent explanations included. I esspecially like that it is a version of many scholars working together to interpret every word in a manner that reflects the intention of the 'original text'. I think they did an excelent job. My only regret is that I did not purchase the edition with the apocrypha.

A SCHOLARLY BIBLE MADE FOR EVERYONE
You won't waste your money if you buy this bible. YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. This bible is an ecumenical work of different denomination scholars, well known theologians.

FORGOTTEN CLASSIC
I recently revisited Roland Penrose's tasteful and pacy biography of Picasso and was jolted anew by its incisiveness and lasting value. Penrose himself was an artist, of course, but he had a diarist nature and a keen ear and these traits brilliantly conspire to give us the quotidian and flesh-and-blood Picasso. This book was written while Picasso was alive and it is energized by association with the vortex. How curious and satisfying to find a biography written in the subject's autumn years that speaks so lustily of his future hopes! [Footnote: Penrose's role in delivering Picasso iconography is sometimes forgotten. It was he who purchased the legendary Dora Maar "Weeping Woman" from the master and moved it ultimately to the Tate: for the rest of the century it remained, with "Les Desmoiselles d'Avignon", the most widely disseminated image of art innovation.] The reader sated on contemporary hyper-analysis will find a great, novelistic read, and much stimulation, in these pages.

The best picassian review of all times.
Not only because they were good friends but because they shared an astonishing good life in the Còte d'azur in the best of moments for Picasso's creative activity. And he contacted all of his best friends. For he was a surrealistic painter as well and he knew about all the art intrigues at the time. You can get every detail on Picasso's life and his way of living, all of his tips, even the cars he had, his life with his relatives who came to visit him. A very personal and human aspect of a great genius is what this book gives you...

This is a truly incredible book, and I don't say that often.
This is the greatest single book on eschatological theory I have ever read. Before reading this book, I knew that there were serious problems with the Pre-Trib theory, but I thought the case for Post-Trib was even worse. I believed it was impossible to be certain about the position of the Rapture because of ambiguities in key texts. Yet I believed that Mid-Trib was (by far) the scholar?s best bet. I was firmly Mid-Trib in my perspective, and I didn?t think anyone ever going to be able to shake me on this topic.

Roland Rassmusen utterly demolished my perspective on this topic. I believe that Rassumusen conclusively proved his case for the Post-Trib Rapture in this book. While I hate the implications of this case as much as the next man, I must tell you that there can be no reply to it. The evidence is devastating. It?s pretty much an open and shut case.

Although we all hate to hear about Dr. Freud in the Evangelical and Fundamentalist camps, I have to say this book is proof positive that we are suffering from a monumental case of Freudian denial right now. We can?t accept the clear teaching of the Bible on the subject of the Rapture because the implications are terrifying.

It is amazing to see how much doctrinal confusion and difficulty disappears the moment you accept this schema. All events in the roadmap of the 70th week snap into position, and a clear vista appears. That is always the sign of a good theory. Just about everything should snap into place with minimal difficulty if the theory is good. Further, the unnecessary confusion introduced by both the Pre-Trib and Mid-Trib doctrines is proof that there are erroneous.

This is not a perfect book. Rassmusen does get bogged down in a quagmire or two on the way through. This is primarily because of his KJV-Only bias. Nevertheless, this is an amazingly well done book with an important point to drive home.

Thinking Man's Christianity
Roland Rasmussen is without doubt one of the most well-read, intelligent men who I have had the honor to speak with in person. His biblical research is thorough, beyond comprehensive, and even multi-lingual.

Whether or not you're "a believer," it's a fascinating intellectual journey. For Christians, Pastor Roland brings things to vivid, facutal life.

Red, fresh and yet delicious
Lady Mcbeth said it well: " Nor even all the parfumes of arabia, can clean this little hands..."

in other words,

Buy this wonderfull book. Be drunk with royal blood.

Simply marvelous
It was a wonderful retelling of a medieval tale. The illustrations were quite detailed, though some would find the blood and gore a bit disturbing.

While the armour is not correct for the period, it does not detract from the overall atmosphere.
