Excellent work
Mr. Gallo is a brialliant writer. He has an unique ability to pack up incredible amount of information in relatively limited space and yet to present this relatively new subject in a clear, concise and easy-to-understand manner. I purchased the book during my own health crisis and successfully applied some of the methods from this and other Mr. Gallo's books (Energy Psychology and Energy Tapping) in my path toward self-recovery. But above all, I'm fascinated with the authors sincere and autenthic devotion to his life goal- the alleviation of suffering of those who are psychologically distressed. Looking forward to your next work Mr. Gallo.

Complete know-how about the "tapping" psychology
Fred Gallo, Ph.D. did a great work in his latest book! With an approach of a scientist and an expirienced psychotherapist, he shared with us the complete knowledge on how to use body energy system to alleviate number of both psychological and physical disorders. But as far as I know, this is the only book about the new and emerging "tapping" psychology field that shows us how to DIAGNOSE. Other authors weren't willing to share with us this secret, therefore leaving us to be effective in 70-80% of cases. The Author invented his own method of Energy Diagnostic, and freely gave it to us. And this method works excellent. I applied EDxTM in few dozens of cases, and the results assured me that it is almost for sure not inferrior to better known (and many times more expensive) Voice Technology (VT) made by doctor Roger Callahan. This book is a must have for proffesionals in the field, but also to self helpers who are willing to invest some effort and uncover deeper level of the field of Energy Psychology (or Meridian Therapies as some would prefer to say). Big thanks to the author with a wish to uncover some more "secrets" in his next book.

Enough to avoid Finance mistakes
This new edition of the classical title looks very informative and meaningful. Perhaps a little bit more strong in the mathematical treatment will provide the customers with a text more atractive. Anyhow, it is still a good text for beginners.

Dr. Guillermo E. Martinez.

Excellant materials for the study of finance.
The book is fairly easy to understand. Students with little or no background in accounting were able to grasp the subject and understand the material. Thoroughly enjoyed using the text. Would have liked to see a web site available to use with the book. The test bank was effective and a time saver. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone wishing to use up-to-date materials with which to teach the subject of finance. Can be used in both a regular semester and a condensed class.

Excellent Introduction to Statistics
This is an excellent first course in statistics for people who want to understand how to perform and interpret statistics. Contains no calculus or higher math. The first half of the book covers the prerequisite probability theory (including the binomial and geometric distributions), and the second half covers statistics proper, with the empahasis placed on the normal and Student's distributions. The Chi-Square distribution is also covered. Linear regression, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing are given very heavy emphasis. The concentration is on practical problems and their solutions rather than with an abstract mathematical development of the theory. Highly recommended for people who have no prior knowledge of the subject.

Fred J. Rynerson ¿ Gemstone Mining & Lapidary Pioneer
There are certain books that seem to bring words to life, inspiring visions of the way things were, and the way things ought to be. Exploring and Mining Gems and Gold in the West - documents the personal history of Frederick James Rynerson, and his experiences during the boom years of San Diego's colored gemstone trade in the early 20th Century (ca 1900-1914). This book includes important photographs of the mines and people who helped make San Diego a global epicenter for Tourmaline. One of my all-time favorites!

An excellent look back at tourmaline mining in San Diego
This book is the personal history of the adventures of Fred Rynerson, one of the early tourmaline miners of San Diego County. Although he did not have a lot of formal education, he was a very intelligent man who had a keen eye for geology and for people. This is one of my all-time favorite books--if you have any interest at all in pegmatites or what conditions were like in early twentieth century southern California, I highly recommend this book.

Highly Recommended!
Fred Neubauer and Alden G. Lank take a long hard look at the family business, both as a powerful engine of economic development and as a fragile organism in need of constant care and attention. After an initial examination of family business' role in the global economy, Neubauer and Lank turn to an assessment of what makes some family concerns thrive while others disintegrate. Their answer: corporate governance, or the lack thereof. An academic tone permeates the book, resulting in both some patches of dry prose and an intellectual rigor lacking in most business books. We from getAbstract highly recommend this serious study of family business to any serious students of business in general.

An extremely useful book
Writen by two experts, both of them professors at IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland, this book offers family businesses very practical advice on setting up governance systems. It is a must for family companies that are trying to create a viable governance system.

Great reference source -- highly recommended
I own this book as well as its companion canon on lunar eclipses. I find them both to be convenient and valuable references whenever I need to find information about past or present eclipses (which I do a lot more often than you might imagine).

What I find most useful are the maps of individual eclipses over a 50-year span and the maps of all total and annular eclipses worldwide over the much longer period of 1901-2100.

It's not called a Canon for nothing.
This is the definitive book to take to eclipses. Espenak is the eclipse expert for NASA and has all the math and software to generate the tables which make up this canon.

Everything else one hears or reads about where and when the eclipse will be, is just third through twelfth hand recounting and mis-recounting of the information in this book. It is not fun reading - it is a book of tables of numbers.

But careful reading and interpolation with an accurate map (or a GPS) and an accurate watch will get you the exact local time of second and third contacts and the actual location of centerline.

That doesn't seem like such a big deal until one is actually on the ground the day before the eclipse. One had been unconsciously expecting that somebody locally would have all the information, and then you find out that they had been assuming that you, the rich, educated foreigner, would know.

The actual real information is to be found only in this book. Don't leave home for an eclipse without it.

A wonderful book about a wonderful man
This book is an autobiography by Phillip Berrigan, a man that hated war and murder by nations and people. He fought for peace and justice but the state continually locked him up in prison for his beliefs. But that did not stop him from spreading the word of the Gospel and being and activist for peace, against war, invuluntary inlistment into the army and nuclear weapons.

UNNERVING, PROPHETIC NON DRAMATIC telling of a life
Philip Berrigan, who beacame {in}famous for being the first Catholic priest jailed ON PRINCIPLE{for his destroying of draft files in Baltimore in 1967},has penned a sort of autobiography. Philip Berrigan has always been a huge burr in the side of everyone in power:religious superiors, wardens, govenment officials{his encounter with Rober McNamara during the war is telling}et,al. He has courage that is beyond my comprehension, continually going forth to non violently protest the ongoing nuclear threat{often by hammering a submarine,or desnt the hollow nose cone od a missle, the pouring blood as a symbol over the objects] For these protest, he has served the majority of the past 30 years in tough penitentaries. What would make this talented handsome intelligent man do such things? The story that he tells, almost mundanely is captivating. Childhood on the Iron range in Minnesota,Stern Irish father and sweet, loving german mother, brood of brothers, athlete, decorated soldier in WWII[they didnt give medals out for laying in foxholes},the he joined the only Roman Catholic order dedicated to serving Black americans, the josephites.{S.S.J} His older brother Daniel,Jesuit priest and famous poet and peace activist, was his role model on this. Throughot the momoir, Phillip Berrigan recounts the good life and hrad times of the next 35 years of his life. His eventual leaving the priesthood, his marriage to Elizabeth McCallister{a former nun , which coused much idiotic tounge wagging back then},his three daughters, his life in Jonah House in Baltimore,Md.{a kind of catholic woker house}, and his dogged, relentless pursuit of the Gospel truth as he sees it. Whether or not one agrees with Berrigan{and in the current climate, thew number of sympathizers must have shruken dramatically}, his almost sisyphusian struggle is admirable. Time alone will decide whethere or not Philip Berrigan has been a prophet or not. What he is is a courageous, honorable man who is willing to put his life, NOT YOURS, on the line for his beliefs. Now that is quite extraordianry.Good book, well written{if almost purposely low-keyed},simply astonishing story.

Great Book
This is a unique chess book that has something for everyone. It has amusing and intersting stories that apply to people who have litereary interests as well as chess interests and it has a striong theme throufghout that although chess is wonderful, it is really secondary to life. It also has fascinating stats, stories, and great game collections and puzzles to solve. Really it is a perfect chess book to go over and read by the fireside on a cold night or any night for that matter. Buy it or pick it up at a library, and if you love chess, you will love this book..

chernev's best
Irving Chernev wrote many chess books, all of them good. But the Fireside Book of Chess is unique. It is not an instructional manual. Rather it is anecdotes, historical stuff and fiction about the long and glorious history of the game. It's an old book, hence there's nothing in it about Fisher, Karpov, Kasparov and others of the last 25 years, but this book is timeless. It is also the only such book of its kind.
