Great Book On All US Tracked Vehicles
This is the Best Book I have read on US Tracked Vehicles. The Details and pictures are great. I Worked for the US Army for 30 years and served 6 years in the army, and I can tell you from first hand knowledge of many of the vehicles in this book that it very good at details. It covers many one of a kind vehicles that were prototype and experamental. This book is a must for the person that is interested in US Tracked Vehicles.

Excellent Photo Dictionary of US Tracked Vehicles
Fred Crismon has turned a lifetime of photographing military vehicles and rummaging through archives into a pair of superb reference books, "U.S. Military Tracked Vehicles," and its companion, "U.S. Military Wheeled Vehicles" (he also published a third, paperback volume recently that brings the series up to date). There are hundreds of photos of all types of armored and unarmored vehicles. If you are just interested in the famous vehicles, then this book is only slightly useful--for instance, there are much better references on the Sherman tank available. But for an overview of all vehicles, including obscure machines that never served in frontline combat, this is a unique reference. Where else could you find photos of arctic snow tractors of the 1950's, or experimental light tanks of the 1930's, or airfield tractors of the US Air Force? Most types or subtypes receive a long paragraph and a single b&w photo. Should be in the library of every serious military vehicle historian.

The most comprehensive book on tracked vehicles available
Staggering in it's scope, this book covers the development of every tracked vehicle in the U.S. Army. Never before seen pictures of vehicles, many that never went into production. What makes the book truly special is the author's personal antecdotes about the vehicles that he gleaned from a lifetime of study and a career as an ordinance officer.

To the point
Sports is an important topic in many families and schools in the USA and abroad. Engh takes a courageous position and that is to say, we, as parents and amateur coaches have twisted the idea of organized sports competition and made it into a grueling exercise for its innocent victims: our children. Engh rightly points out that parents and ignorant coaches who use their amateur leadership position to wrongly influence our children as to what fair sportsmanship is all about. Engh points out that "winning" has unfortunately become the Holy Grail of youth competition. I'd rather prefer what I heard one Chinese table tennis champion say a few years back, "Winning is temporary, friendship is permanent." You only have to attend a local sports event or pick up a newspaper to hear about the tragic ways children are exposed to bickering parents, foul-mouthed opponents, loud mouth fans, unrewarded referees. Engh places himself in a vulnerable position to put the spotlighht on the very people he is asking to support his organization nationwide: the coaches, schools, youth organizations and parents. In youth sports, the child is supposed to come first, like it was in sandlot baseball and other sports in the past. But now "the organization" comes first, and corporate sponsors. children in youth sports have become a commodity. I wouldn't be surpised if some youth organizations try to ban his book because it exposes some of the politics, in-fighting and complete insensitivity that exists in youth sports today. There are many good, sensitive parents and single persons who are engaged in helping youth sports. I hope everyone of them buys a couple dozen of Engh's book and distributes them to their local libraries. Good luck, Mr. Engh ! We hope your book enlightenens the next person who comes along planning to use an amateur coach position or parent-fan to fullfill his or her unrealized dreams of athletic greatness. H T White

Excellent viewpoint on sports
This book did not disappoint me. Professional sports are indeed a black eye on this country and a threat to the future of our young people.

A must read for all parents with children in youth sports
Fred Engh has hit the nail on the head with his book,"Why Johnny Hates Sports". Our children today are in the hands of Adminstrators,Coaches and parents that have only one goal, win at any cost. Mr. Engh points out in page after page that we are hurting the ones we most love, our kids. I'm going to buy a copy for every board member in my little league.Thank you Mr. Engh, I felt I was the only parent on my team that thought winning was less important that instruction and learning. Before you put your children at risk of a underskilled, overreacting coach read this book.

One Of The Most Detailed Examinations Of Windows 98!
Windows 98 is alive and doing quite well despite government and competitor attempts to block its full implementation. It is standard on new computers systems worldwide and its impact has been breathtaking. Although a number of books have been written on this new operating system to help users, several standout as being among the better ones available. The Windows 98 Bible written by Fred Davis and Kip Crosby is one of them. This single book offers one of the most detailed examinations of Windows 98 on the market.      This comprehensive guide will provide readers with in-depth understanding of desktop controls, including the start menu, fonts and font use, display settings, multitasking, the use of pointing devices, installing software programs, installation and use of printers and other hardware devices, multimedia tools, system tools, network operation, the use of other languages, and upgrading computers. Readers will learn how to use Internet Explorer and Outlook Express included with the operating system.     The authors provide readers with an explanation of the improvements and advance features of this new operating system that will greatly enhance their computing experience. The most useful features of this book in my estimation are the coverage of desktop interfacing with the Internet, multitasking among programs, and file management that are so important for business use today.     Another feature of this book that will appeal to more advanced users is the coverage of the Registry, the file database that stores all the information about one's computer, installed hardware, and software programs. While most users will not require immediate information about this important system feature, it is available at hands' reach when such times may arise!     As readers make their way through this nearly 1,000 page book they will gain more than adequate knowledge about Windows 98. In fact, companies that depend upon this operating system will do well to read up on it and familiarize themselves with what it can accomplish for them. This friendly book, laced with wit and wisdom, offers loads of helpful instruction, some in the form of tips, tricks, and tweaks, to make the most productive use of it. This book is highly recommended for intermediate and advanced users!     Best quote from the book: "What's this Windows 98 thing?!" It's what Windows 3.x never could have been. It's what Windows 95 always should have been. It's what will come pre-installed on your next computer. And because Windows 98 is all those things, it's also what we wrote this book about. We hope you like it. - from the foreword

A clever balance of wit, wisdom and in-depth information.
What an enjoyable read is this book! Most books on such technical subjects are mostly re-telling what can be found in the manual or on-line help. This book really takes you inside Microsoft's operating system and pulls no punches while offering both praise and criticism of everything from Microsoft's attitudes to its system tools. Along the way, details emerge that I haven't found in any other source including a wonderful glossary called "Microsoft's Networking Vocabulary" that offers even a breakdown of what T1 stands for, not just the speed it represents. It's the attention to the details that sets this book apart from the rest. I can't imagine a better resource to have; why the index alone (almost 40 pages) is worth the price of the book!

This has to be the best book on Windows 98!
I run a small business and I depend on computers every day - but that doesn't mean I know everything about them. The Windows 98 Bible was written for people like me, especially because Microsoft doesn't bother to write manuals any more. I guess it would cost them too much :-).

EVERYTHING about Windows 98 is in this book, and it's clear, logical, easy to read, and sometimes even funny. Unlike some of the Windows books I've read, it's not entirely pro-Microsoft, but Microsoft will like it anyway, because it will convince people to upgrade from Windows 95. It's convinced me; I'm going to upgrade as soon as I can buy the software.

'Dough' yourself a favor, read this book!
Wink is one of humanity's gems. A brilliant man, genius perhaps. Where would the world be without 'Gambit' I wonder? My only response to the question is a nervous shudder.

Wink's Book A Must For Game Show Fans! (& Everyone Else!)
Wink Martindale is one of TV's best Game Show hosts! From the popular 70's "Gambit" (which I liked so much I used "Gambit" as my CB 'handle' back then) to the most recent "Debt", Wink has kept us playing for so many years! Hopefully we will see more of Wink as host in the future! Meanwhile, this book is a great read as it lets you get to know one of America's favorite hosts a bit better. It also gives you a great insider's look at TV game shows! (Chock full of exclusive "behind the scenes" photos!

Very entertaining and well written reflection from Wink
To many of us who are still in college, we may only know Wink Martindale from his gameshow "Tic Tac Dough". But there is a lot more to this very talented and gifted man.

Next to the 19 gameshows that he hosted, he had a very sucessfull career in radio, getting his very first start on his hometown's own radio station. He also went on to have a million selling single "Deck Of Cards". Then began his long and still current career as gameshow emcee.

He begins by telling of his childhood in Jackson, Tenessee. He mentions his love and fascination of radio, and his longing to one day be the one announcing the news and playing the music that was heard by everyone for miles around. He also tells of the major influence his brothers and sister had on him, as well as his parents. Also, he tells how he got his nickname of "Wink".

Without giving away too much, I can honestly say, that if you are a fan of Wink, that you will really like this book. Wink is a fantastic writer and keeps you glued to every page. When I first started reading his book, I looked at the clock a while later and didn't realize that an hour and a half had passed!

There are also A LOT of photos and a nice collection of color photos in the center of the book.

I give this book 5 stars, because of the many autobiographies that I have read lately, this one is not only informative, but also heartwarming and entertaining.

Highly Recommended

Interesting Read
The role of the women who were involved in the Birth and Death of the Order has largely been overlooked.

It is highly recommendable if you would like a differing view of the rise and fall of the Order; it is an interesting combination of romance, drama, gossip, and historical information (Although I cannot attest to its accuracy). You are exposed to the flaws of the founders, and their weaknesses. While some of the interaction between members could come right out of Jerry Springer, it is still highly commendable.

I must admit I had a difficult time putting this book down.

An entertaining and scholarly book
Women of the Golden Dawn addresses a subject that is rarely touched on in other books on the Occult Revival: the role of the women in this movement. Mary K. Greer weaves a tapestry of astrology, tarot, metaphysics, biography, and history. The book elucidates many magickal principles as skillfully as it recounts the story of four uncommon women. The extensive endnotes are especially intriguing; tarot readers will be very interested at the in-depth records of Golden Dawn tarot readings and interpretations.

Good for fans of magic and the Golden Dawn
The Golden Dawn magical order was founded in 1888. Although it admitted women, they have been often overlooked in histories of the GD.Mary Greer redresses this oversight. The four women in question are Annie Horniman, actress and writer Florence Farr, freedom fighter for Ireland Maud Gonne and the mystical Moina Bergson Mathers.Greer claims that these women were the true heart and soul of the Golden Dawn, and it is hard not to agree with her. Each woman had exceptional talents, and each made her own unique contribution to this magical Order.Much research has gone into this book and it is packed with information not easily found on the subjects.Interesting details of some of the magical workings are given, including some by Maud Gonne and W.B.Yeats.The personal relationships, the bickering, the magic--it's all here.

The Young Savages
'The Young Savages' by Fred Mustard Stewart is well written and very entertaining. It puts you in the nineteenth century into adventure after adventure. You ride a steam locomotive train and experience San Francisco during the Gold Rush. Even Teddy Roosevelt is in this book. You travel from New York to Italy and China. This book has it all. There is a train robbery, cattledrives, romance, murder, greed, espionage, prejudices, kidnapping, and even fencing duels. It is certainly an action-packed book and I recommend it.

RIVITING HISTORICAL FAMILY SAGA
This story takes place in the late 1800's in which the Savage family and the Rothschild family are united when Julie Savage marries Felix Rothschild......Johnny Savage, Rachel's brother is a dashing character who goes out to conquer the "wild west" with Teddy Roosevelt......Justin Savage, the father of Julie and Johnny is a very rich bank owner who with his partner, Ben Lieberman are wonderful family men who do everything they can to help their family and friends.....Rachel, Ben's very beautiful daughter faught against her family's attempt to form a Jewish dynasty and therefore almost lost her life and the only man she ever loved.

Fabulous
I recently read Stewart's prequel to this book, "The Magnificent Savages" and when I heard the the sequel was coming out I couldn't wait. This book is absolutely wonderful. If you loved his first book you'll enjoy this one too. It is full of history and adventure and love. I hope he continues with this family. They are wonderfully interesting.

A Great Baseball Book
This is really a very exclusive club. Less than twenty-five players amassed this many hits. Lots of very fine hitters never quite made it to 3,000. It takes a long and fruitful career to make it. There are a lot of good stories about each one in this book.

A ten star rating!
Greats like Sam Crawford, Sam Rice, Rogers Hornsby, Al Simmons, Mel Ott, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, Mike Schmidt, Ernie Banks and Carlton Fisk and so many other have failed to do what 24 players have done - get 3,000 hits.

From Rose to Clemente this exclusive fraternity of two dozen of baseball best is covered n this one of a kind collectors book. This must have for every baseball fan of all ages breaks down each of the 24 and gives you a short glimpse into what has made them great.

In 213 pages you'll read about men like Aaron, Brett, Boggs, Gwynn, Ripken, Cobb, Rose, Musial, Waner, Winfield, Carew, Anson, Mays, Murray, Brock, Clemente and eight others. Simply one of the best books on baseball I have ever read.

Under $15.00 is well worth the price; I would have paid double for this book. Congratulations to the 24 best hitters in baseball and also to Sports Publishing Inc. for allowing me to read this book.

What it was like - Constructing a Government
This was an eye opener for learning how many options were considered and how many compromises were made to resolve the regional and economic differences of the fifty-five delagates. Very sobering, to consider how close the USA came to making very different choices. Highly reccommended for all! This is real history, as recorded by Madison, exactly as it evolved.

So easy, so common sense, and it works!
Positive reinforcement has always worked, but this book shows you specifics of how to use that tool. It teaches the parent a fair yet extremely effective way to train your child to behave. The concept is simple and easy and it works so quickly because of those things. A common sense tool for those of us who feel they've lost theirs! A+++!

Best parenting book I have ever read and used!
Fred Lybrand hits the nail on the head with his common sense approach to parenting. I read the book in one (long) sitting and have benifited greatly from the tips he offers. The complete approach to parenting is fresh and helpful. My own parenting skills are better now and my relationship with my kids is stronger. My husband even read the book and raves

This is the place to start when it comes to Al Capone. Written at the height of Capone's glory as America's most famous and successful mobster, and when he was widely viewed as he saw himself--as a successful businessman. You can't get a much fresher look at Al than this.

An Excellent Book!
The great biography of the American gangster, Al Capone. Facts about his childhood, St. Valentine's Day Massacre, and his death. This book also includes never before seen photos and other artifacts of the gangster.
