Terrific Transitions lives up to it's name!
Although "practical" is an overused word it suits this book to a "T". The ideas help with classroom management and provide unique learning opportunities for the children. The book contains a nice mix of transition tips. There are suggestions for wild fun and also for quieting an overly exuberant bunch. The ideas can be implemented immediately and easily. That's a big plus for busy teachers. This is a great selection for new and experienced educators. I think Terrific Transitions lead to a terrific day!

Terrific Transitions- Terrific Ideas
What a wonderful book! This book is the ultimate must have of any pre-k to 1st teacher. It gives different transition examples for just about any type of activity. It is well categorized into different types of activities. It even gives extensions and different types of ways to do each transitions. I teach kindergarten and have found this book to work miracles when changing topics, to lining up for lunch, or simply getting the wiggles out. I highly recommend this book.

A book to refer back to again and again!
I can not say enough positive things about this outstanding book. As a child therapist, who works with many children in the foster care system and increasing numbers of adopted children, Theraplay has become the single most important tool in my repertoire of therapy modalities. It is very exciting to find a method of working with children that offers practical and impactful strategies to try, which are very different from what you may already be doing. I have also attended the Theraplay trainings at the Theraplay Institute in Chicago and am near completion of the Theraplay Certification process. Even if I am not using Theraplay with a particular child, the foundation and understanding of attachment that this model has given me pervade my work. Parents of children that I am using Theraplay with often report dramatic progress in their child's behavior and attachment to them in a short period of time. One father of an internationally adopted child that I am using Theraplay with said it best. He stated, "We finally came to realize that our child was not going to be able to fully benefit from all the supportive services we were taking him to (including occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy) until he was able to form an attachment with us. Theraplay has allowed that attachment to form and we are now seeing much more progress in other areas of development."

The model of using parents as co-therapists, as presented in the book, is very empowering to parents and the parents I use Theraplay with have many positive comments to say about this. One foster/adoptive mother recently told me she thinks that every foster or adoptive parent should be required to learn Theraplay. She adds "It has given me a whole new understanding of my adopted children and their needs."

Theraplay is not only useful for children with attachment and bonding difficulties, but I have found it particularly useful for children diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. This is a comprehensive book that you will refer back to again and again.

This book offers elegant solutions to complex problems.
Jernberg and Booth explore attachment beginning in the nursery, what it looks like when all goes well and when it doesn't. Difficult concepts are presented in ways that make them highly accessable. The beauty of this work, is in the solutions that are offered. As I read this book, I found my self saying repeatedly, "this make too much sense." After reading Theraplay, I registered for the next training offered in Chicago. Anyone working with children in most any capacity would benefit from this well researched, time-tested work. Reading this book and attending the training has had a tremendous, positive impact on my work as a child therapist.

Excellent Canadian Anthology of Poetry!
As a teacher in Canada, it is nice to know that there are talented Canadian poets and this book, compiled by David Booth ( who also wrote the teacher friendly 'Poems Please" )is a fantastic anthology to showcase the talent. The selected poems range from subjects of nature to family and friendship. I especially appreciate " A Mosquito in the Cabin " by Myra Stilborn- a poem read with relish on a recent camping trip! This is a must have for teachers teaching poetry.

One of the best poem books you can read!
This is a really great book. I recommend reading at least one poem a night for your children, I epecially enjoy "unicorn," with its great use of Rococo and style. All the poems are great!

The Right One
An excellent guide. I was familiar with Copenhagen as a student 10 years ago and this book helped me right back into step. The general feel is spot-on and it's written for a more adventurous traveler than one just off the cruise ship. The book is irrepressibly positive, and perhaps overstates the charm and style of some sites - just like a guide book usually does. I thought the maps to be good, and they thoroughly cross-reference the entries. The addresses and hours seem to be correct. Copenhagen is an underrated European city; virtually untouched by the past ravages of war and living very much in the present day. If you're destination shopping, the city rates an 8+, and so does the guide. Bring, rent or buy a bicycle if you really want to go local.

The Only Guide You'll Need in Copenhagen
Before going to Copenhagen, I purchased several guides...this is the one I used. Covers the usual castle, museum stuff but excels in the less usual stuff like club-life, small restaurants (try Ban-Gaw for Thai food and watch the human traffic on in the tacky old sex district of Istedgade),....prices are up-to-date, good info on train travel, good section on nearby Malmo.Lots of opinions...mostly right on. Could use a better map.

Buy it!
This book is basically a guide to "new experimental typography". A bit of intro by the author and the rest are just pictures. But don't get me wrong. I know I said it casually but after viewing (I can't say reading when it comes to pictures, can I?) the content of this book, my head almost burst! So many ideas suddenly popped up!

This book however does not teach you how to create great designs, or how great designs are created. It doesn't tell you the rules of typography etc. All it does is showing you the designs related to typography by some designers. If you're looking for ideas, this is the book for you.

An Automotive Gallery of Masterpieces
This 1993 Könemann book (text by Hartmut Lehbrink) presents a photographic history of sports cars. It is by no means an exhaustive encyclopædia of sports cars; nor is it a list of the most important, fastest or most beautiful sports cars of the period. Nevertheless each of the 227 cars lovingly photographed and researched is in some way a classic. Both the photography and histories are excellent, detailed and honest (pointing out the shortcomings of each). At least 2 pages are devoted to each car, one large photo page to each page with history and data (and more photos). This is no pocket guide either, but a very large book, both in the number (467) and size (nearly 10½"x12") of the pages. Altogether a superb book, and well worth the expense.

a man of mystery
Vivaldi's life and personality are fascinating, especially because there are so many mysteries unsolved. Even the author of this book, John Booth, is a mystery. Who is this person? It says on the cover that this is the first music-related book this man has written. Well, he has done a terrific job! :-)

Entertaining!
For Vivaldi lovers who don't like dry and scholastic biographies, this can be confidently recommended as the first book, or even the only book, to read about the composer. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The author really tells the story of this fascinating composer in a very engaging way! Bravo!

In fact, I would recommend every biography in this series. Pictures and photos about the composer's life and times really give the readers a lot of atmospheres and extra feelings. It's far more enjoyable this way when one reads a biography!

a bolt from the blue
How do I begin to describe the power of this book? I was at the Oulu library (Finland), spotted an attractive paperback whose title promised something more than light intellectual fare, and I proceeded to read the first page. I must have been there, standing in the middle of the library, absorbed, for something like 30 minutes solid before my wife (who'd been anxiously searching for me) tore me away me away from the most fulfilling "conversation" I've had in yonks. This happened to be my first and most formative encounter with Booth's delightful, witty and utterly engaging manner. I'll never forget it. The powerful insights coupled with a disarming style is one of the many features that has made Booth a favorite among my intellectual friends (in the form of books). Anyone who reads a single page of this fascinating book will recognize that he or she is in the presence of an accomplished rhetorician. It is a pleasure and an inspiration to "dialogue" with such a writer-thinker, deeply engaged as he is with a subject that he loves so passionately and shares so eloquently.

A wonderful book
Mr. Booth's book is exquisite--a thoughtful contemplation of what it means to teach English, how one teacher went about doing it, and his reflections on his successes and failures (not too many failures in here; would that we could all teach so well). I felt inspired after reading this book, just in time for the beginning of a new semester, and 50 new students!

Wow. This is a great book.
I was pleased at the way this book chronicles the lives of William and Catherine Booth. What a pair! I mean this man had a very hard life and basically was an indentured servant during his apprenticeship. They both new the meaning of self sacrifice and being our brother's keeper. What an awesome couple. Definitely read this one. It will give you a new perspective on your own life.

Heroes of the Faith Series
This book is a must have for anyone in the Salvation Army. You will enjoy the great story of the beginnig of the Salvation Army as you learn about the lives of the William and Catherine Booth. This book touched my heart and I'm sure it will touch yours. I give this book 5/5 stars.

My current favorite
I was only able to view this book for a few minutes, but I'm in love. As soon as the Holiday season is over I'm planning on buying it for myself. Beautiful images that are warm, rich, and extremely textural. Mr Booth, in my opinion was able to capture emotion and expression in a way that most photographers who deal with the figure as a subject never do.
