A real winner!
This book was a total surprise. From beginning to end, I never knew what was coming next. Each story had such a twist at the end, just like an Alfred Hitchock film. It's a perfect book to take to the beach or for a quiet read on a rainy night. I liked the book because I don't have much time to read, and I found I could finish a short story in no time, even on my lunch hour. I'd recommend this to everyone.

An intriguing read
As the write-up on the back cover of this book states, these stories really do tease the senses. I've never read such a collection of tales that spark the imagination. Each story has a surprise ending, and it's fun to see if you can outwit the writer and guess the endings. A really fun book for one's own enjoyment or as a gift to someone who may need a little uplifting and a chuckle or two.

If you like Hitchcock endings, you'll love this book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book of short tales. The endings surprised me every time. A wonderful read for those stormy days or for that trip to the beach in the warmth of summer. In fact, it seems to me to be a perfect gift for a "shut-in" or someone in the hospital.

Shcocking and true
I was scared and upset when I finally realized what the title of the book meant. I am a mexican-american, born on the U.S. side of the border. This book reminded me just how far away America is from Mexico, even though we are neigbors, we are worlds away. This book is blunt. Although it was a harsh reality check for me, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Chilling look at the other side.
We, as United States citizens take for granted all that we have and this book is a solemn reminder of all that we do have to be thankful for. Urrea gives character sketches of sorts on the impoverished families and orphaned children that live unseen by the world in their own world of the Mexican garbage dumps. A very sad tale about the suffering in Mexico that goes unnoticed. Thank you Urrea for opening my eyes and my heart to these children.

The diamond touch : how to get what you want by giving people what they uniquely desire

Really good
The book approaches sales from a relationship management perspective. It specifically focuses on selling to people by devising what it is that they truly desire. For example, if someone desires a candy bar, is that because they desire something sweet, some sort of comfort, or for some other reason. The book teaches you how to figure that out and what to do about it. It's a really good book. It'll be good for business people, spouses, or anyone else having trouble with a relationship.

The Diamond Touch
The Diamond Touch is an excellent book for anyone to read. I purchased the book after listening to Dr. Booth speak. I enjoyed reading the book and learned a ton of things that helped me be a better dad, husband, businessperson, friend, and leader. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone you know who needs to learn how to relate to people better. Young people entering the business world could learn a lot from this book.

By George, it's Booth
Lee Lorenz has indeed captured the essential George Booth. Not only has he given Booth's adoring fans a beautiful collection of his work, he introduces us to the sources of his brilliance - his smart, talented, humorous, proudly individualistic parents - and he spices the book with just the right number and types of Boothianic stories to make us yearn for more. This is a rare find.

George Booth is a National Treasure
This collection of Booth cartoons is brilliant and off the wall. There is no end to the "windmills of his mind". I bought two copies to share with my similarly weird friends and may buy more. This man knows cats and a whole lot about the world that I've always wondered about. Keep on truckin' Mrs. Ritterhouse!

A Must Read
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. In very
clear and insightful language, Booth reveals the wonder
of "experiencing" the art of living. Over and over
again, I experienced "Ah, Hah" moments while reading
this book. This book would make an ideal gift.

Inspirational
This book was an unexpected gem! From the opening words, through the very last chapter, I was caught up in how well the author was able to translate the sometimes esoteric world of creativity for the everyday person. His down-to-earth style helped the subject come alive and after reading the Everyday Work of Art, I feel I can start living more creatively. As a side note, the book's cover, with it's clever cut-outs, compliments the book very well. A supurb package and read!

a keeper
A wonderful book -- low key and well written. The stories speak for themselves without author intrusion or fictionalized "oo-wee-spooky" add-ins. The Hubbards obviously enjoyed this project, and it shows. If you want ectoplasm dripping from the walls and bloody apparitions, you won't find them here; but you will meet real ghosts and the people who live with them discussing the subtle, cumulatively unsettling experience of being haunted.

I own 300 or so nonfiction ghost collections, and wrote my own ("Mobile Ghosts, Alabama's Haunted Port City.")I've sent an awful lot of ghost books on to the library, but this is one I enjoy rereading, and have it on the "keeper" shelf. --Elizabeth Parker

I couldn't put this book down
This is an outstanding book. I was hooked on the first page and couldn't stop reading until I was finished. The photography is every bit as exceptional as the writing. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever had even the slightest interest in ghosts. If you are from the south it is a must!

A religous refugee thinks twice with this one!
I have claimed to be an agnostic for years with a strict penticostal background and according to my therapist a grudge with Jesus. A friend gave me this book to read who herself is a "recovering catholic" who shuns most religous-osity. I hesitated opening up the cover which has God in bright blue letters across the cover. But I was hooked before the end of the first chapter.

This book takes everything I ever learned and loathed about God, spirituality, and religion and twist it around, throws it out or clears it up in a mere 176 pages. All the things that have kept me stuck and stunted in my spirituality were addressed by Father Leo in a realistic and nurturing way. He suggest we clear out our "God Box" those things that keep us beat down, guilty and judged in our religions and work on co-creating our destinies with God. I now know I have a lot of work to do with my spiritual side... I've simply been lazy due to my fears. Who knows if I'll ever claim the description of christian again... but I know I'll be more spiritually sound in what ever path I take. Thank you Father Leo!

Required reading in an age of mass market sectarianism
Leo Booth's book describes just how addicting conventional religion can become when it is taken as a final step in the spiritual life rather than what it really is meant to be: a first step in adult faith development. In an age when adults are turning to conventional piety in greater numbers, it seems, Booth's book is a practical guide for developing authentic adult spirituality rooted in wisdom when the "God Box" offered in contemporary forms of True Believerism loses its allure.

I consider works like Booth's (and many others) to be a kind of "warning label" on the real dangers of devotion associated with the resurgent fundamentalism and parochialism found today in most religious institutions and spiritual movements. Booth's work meets a growing need for spiritual recovery among adults who become disillusioned with the polarization, polemics and proselytism too ofetn associated with naive forms of religious enthusiasm, however orthodox and "grown-up" in nature.

Chapter by chapter, Booth leads the reader in recovery from the "numbing effects of... religiosity" (page 11), to the "reclaiming of spiritual power lost to dysfunctional or outmoded religious messages." (page 13).

Thanks to Leo Booth for encouraging us all to "experience 'The Way' demonstrated not just by Jesus, but by so many great spiritual leaders and teachers in all cultures and walks of life. Writing a new story for ourselves helps us discover the sacred in the secular that reveals God at work in so many diverse places- not only in the traditional religious scriptures, but in the words of ordinary people who challenge us to connect with our world." (page 183)

A gifted collections of nudes young/old & dramatic images
This collection runs the beautiful gamet between nudes , young and old, and the shocking image that some of us jump back from. Gearon in the beginning pages does young nudes in a artful and unposed way.The kind of photos you say to yourself are so common but so stunningly beautiful. An old man with a mask scares a young boy. Others shock with the tragedies of life. This is a must see for serioius collectors of photography.

Best contemporary photo all in one book
this is contemporary photo. and there is plenty of it. great book.
