This book is a 5 Star Gem and I'd give it 10 if I could!
After 5 years of searching ( and wondering if I could afford it) I finally found a copy of this book here on Amazin.com for $$$ and decided WHAT THE HECK and bought it on the hopeful chance that it would be worth it (The most expensive book I'd ever bought previously was $$$ , so this was a REAL stretch) but when I got it, I was FLOORED-literally! I had to sit down when I opened the package! Just reading the introduction told me that this book was worth every penny of its price, and MORE! And the more I looked through it, the more convinced I was that this book was worth its price and then some. So if you are a Lincoln Assassination enthusiast, this book is a MUST for your collection. It is expensive, but the photographs, in their rarity alone are worth it, and the text is a treasure. Buy it if you can find a copy, and Amazon isa great place to start! Thank you SO MUCH, Richard and Kellie Gutman!!!

excellent for everyone is is really interested.
A comprehensive and beautiful book. I have read it over and over again. It is a potential collectors item. A real keeper!

Man in the Glass Booth
Published in Textbook Binding by Harcourt (June, 1967)
Author: Robert Shaw

Now I want to see the play!
Being a fan of Robert Shaw from his acting career, I decided to pick up The Man in the Glass Booth. Robert Shaw's story takes place twenty years after the holocaust. In this story the reader finds a successful Jewish real-estate man, Arthur Goldman, who is chauffered around by a rabbi named Charlie Cohen. Cohen serves as a type of assistant to Goldman and constantly listens to his sometimes incoherent speeches and thoughts as he babbles on through the first part of the book. A majority of this book is dialogue. (I read that there is a play based on this book. This I must see)
During the dramatic second part of the book, Arthur Goldman is discovered wearing an S.S. uniform by an unsuspecting Charlie Cohen and is soon taken to Israel with war crime charges. This leads the reader, who becomes a juror, to wonder just who Arthur Goldman really is.
During the trial, Arthur Goldman gives an intense testimony of days in the concentration camp that is guaranteed to keep the reader's attention. It is at this trial that Goldman is put in a glass booth to testify, and his testimony is both shocking and unforgettable.
This book is highly intense and worth reading. Mr. Shaw is multi-talented as an actor and author, and this book deserves much merit.

Timeless drama looks at society's own holocaust culpability.
In 1964, the Israeli intellignece group, the Mossad, kidnaps Jewish businessman, Arthur Goldman from his New York City apartment and accuses him of heinous war crimes. During the trial that follows, this man will offer a defense that will shock you, provoke you, and force you, the reader, to become the judge of him, his actions, and yourself. Originally staged in NYC in the '60's, the play was revised in New York City at the Cocteau Theater in 1998. This is a testament to the timeless nature of the drama. Historical references to the Pope's edict, concentration camps, and ethnic cleansing are repeated in recent history. Interesting metaphors are employed in the use of certain music references and references to certain paintings. The reference to Poussin's "Arcadia" bring to mind the scholarly interpretation of the painting "Here too (in paradise), is death." Arcadia is paradise neglected and fallen into ruins. The full title is "Et in Arcadia," which is actually meant as a riddle. Since there is no verb, the reader is meant to infer the meaning. So too is the main character, Arthur Goldman, a riddle, leaving the reader to guess at his true nature. Ultimately the reader is shocked by a surprise twist ending in the script, which reveals Arthur Goldman to be someone wholly different from whom he himself was pretending to be. Often performed with the audience being the jury of the trial, the audience is then forced to make a life or death decision about this man, unwittingly being lead to make the wrong conclusions. The play is a well crafted, dark drama. The gruesome talk of Nazi atrocities, with our main character admitting to shooting a person in the nape of the neck, allowed me to truly hate our main character, and yet to be also fully surprised by the climatic twist. If you're into the dark and gritty, buy this play.

Mandy
Mandy is a young girl who is hearing-impaired. This story tells of things Mandy enjoys in her life and the things she dislikes. It also tells how Mandy uses her other senses. The story is about Mandy going out at night during a storm to look for her beloved grandmother's lost pin. The pin is special to her grandmother because Mandy's grandfather had given it to her on their 25th wedding anniversary. Mandy finds the pin and makes her grandmother very happy.

Teacher Notes: Mandy would be a wonderful book to read to remind students that people are different and that we should respect that diversity. This would be a good read-aloud book for kindergarten and first grade. Second and third graders could read it on their own.

An Inspiration!
Mandy is a really unique picture book dealing with the issue of deafness. It is a heart warming story about a young deaf girl and her grandmother. It is filled with profound statements expressing Mandy's "Deaf" perspective of the hearing world she lives in. While ending a dance in the kitchen with Grandma, Mandy describes "...one of the silly rules of the Hearing World. It makes more sense to stop dancing when you wanted to stop, instead of letting that box (radio) decide." Later, she wonders how the sunlight sounds as it passes through the trees. She concludes that the woods must be a very loud place to be, which is why she and Grandma never see any other people there! This story really makes you stop and think how a young Deaf child might view pieces of the Hearing world. It also makes you think about different ways Hearing people use auditory cues to perceive their world.

The art work in Mandy is touching and enhances the story with its beauty.

One of the things I enjoy most about this book, is that it exposes the readers to Deaf Culuture while immersing them in a sensitive story about two special people. Mandy and Grandma share such fun together, dancing, cooking walking in the woods. However, when Grandma loses a very special pin that Grandpa gave her before he died, it was Mandy who saved the day!

As a teacher of the Deaf, I read as much literature as possible on this subject to share with students, families, teachers and all interested parties. This book on Deaf Culture is inspiring because of how well it is written and because it is the only piece of literature on this subject that I have read that does NOT focus on what the Deaf can and cannot do, or describe a day in the life of a Deaf person. It tells a heartwarming adventure, weaving into the story inspiring perspectives on Deafness that really make the reader/listener think.

In my mind, this is one of the best children's books I've read about Deafness. It is not one that is well-known, but it is a real treasure!

Pat Booth has what it takes!!!!!
I bought this from my bookclub and hoped it was a steamy novel like the rest of her books. It wasn't, but it was superb in a different way. These three women in the book will win your heart from the start. Don't hesitate, this one's a keeper!

Not what I expected!
Pat Booth's new book "Marry Me" is not like her previous books. I expected it to contain adult contents. I am only half way through but I can't put it down. If only I had all the time in the world I could finish it in one sitting. It always upsets me when I have to put it down. Definitly a page turner.

Miami

a sexy, thrilling novel.
Pat Booth does it again with a sexy, thrilling romp about life in the Sin City of the '90s. With plenty of double-dealing rascals and hard-hearted heroines (who always happen to be beautiful), Booth takes us to places we've always wanted to go, and occasionally, to places we'd never want to. The dialogue is as sharp as a scythe. Characters, although glamorous, waver between the self-absorbed and just plain cruel. Although Booth's novel takes us far from reality, isn't that what we most often want a book to do? The perfect escape.

A Must!
For all you Pat Booth fans, Miami is a must. If you loved Palm Beach, then go south to Miami. Pat Booth's ability to articulate in words the sights and sounds, heat and passion of Miami makes this book truly a piece of art. If you can't afford to take that vacation to Florida, then bring Miami to you. You'll be whisked away to a place you'll never want to leave. Enjoy.

Poetry from every angle: great selections, great commentary
When a friend gave me the Third Edition of this fine book some years ago, I couldn't have guessed how much pleasure I would get out of it. I now keep a copy in my office at work. At spare moments I pick a poem at random. I often find myself reading the poems around it, and the editor's commentary as well. Just reading the section introductions sucks you into reading all the poems in a section. This is the best collection for instilling or maintaining a love of poetry--I'm giving my doughter a copy today.

Excellent survey of artists and forms
This is a nice way to settle back in with poetry if you have been away from it for a while. Hunter gives us a collection of outstanding writings from the western tradition. There is enough about form and structure to add to our appreciation of the artists' work without distracting from the meaning and emotion. There are a few chapters at the end that are very "textbookish" but they are brief and do not invade too much on the worth of the volume as a collection for people who do not plan to write "about poetry".

The Sisters
Outstanding writing, a real page turner that keeps you from putting it down. Her best work (have read 4 other novels from Pat). You will not be disappointed!

SISTER DEAREST by M. Boucher
Pat Booth is in the same league as Jackie Collins. She writes steamy, no holds barred, page-turners about the rich and famous. THE SISTERS is a compelling roman à clef of two famous siblings. One's a bestselling author; the other is a well-known actress (hummm...who could they be ?). Both have a secret to hide, and one will try to destroy the other in every way possible. Set in Hollywood, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles, THE SISTERS is sure to grab you from page one. The author delivers a well-written, fast-paced, steamy story that surely will make you read into the wee hours of the night! A not-to-be miss international bestseller!

Spiritual Navigation in the 21st Century
Just plain outstanding and informative. A powerful preacher, a powerful message, a powerful book. Dr. Thomas is truly an anointed man of God. The brother has done it yet again.

Spiritual Navigation for the 21st Century
I am familiar with Dr. Thomas' down to earth yet keenly insightful preaching. This book is equally as powerful. Dr. Thomas helps us understand the paths to problem resolution through the power of Jesus Christ. Dr. Thomas imparts his wisdom through a series of sermons which address "everyday" situations. I was able to use the book for morning devotions and I intend on utilizing it as a reference point throughout my own ministy.
