Literary Lovers
This is a great book for someone with eclectic reading habits who is interested in better understanding authors. One gains insights into the personal lives of some of the great writers. Because of the short vignettes, this is a good book for those who tend not to have long blocks of time for reading.

Nashville
Published in Hardcover by Little Brown UK Ltd (August, 2000)
Author: Pat Booth
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Pretty good
I enjoyed reading this book, especially since I love country music. This book managed to potray the image of Nashville well and the writing carries it off brilliantly. The plot is interesting and if there's a flaw in this book, it's only that the main character Savanna is too darned perfect. Looks, talent, courage and wealth. The little snippets of imagined country songs are also one of the important element that supports the sincerity of this book. Kudos!

Very good, get it if you can find it
I don't program in Clipper any more, but the information in this book is valuable to programmers of other languages as well. If you are still writing DOS programs and need specialized support for Netware and NetBIOS networks, this book is a must.

An amusing, entertaining read.
Curt Smith replicates the format of his earlier "The Storytellers," this time turning the "mikes" over to football rather than baseball announcers. Personally, I liked the earlier collection better, perhaps because I prefer the diamond to the gridiron. And Smith's own passages, in the announcer profiles and chapter introductions, once again show a lot of duplication from his earlier books like the aforementioned "Storytellers" and "Voices Of The Game." Nonetheless, there's no shortage of great anecdotes here and this book should be more than welcome for fans of football or broadcasting.

Positioning the Missionary: John Booth Good and the Colonial Confluence of Cultures
Published in Paperback by Univ of British Columbia (March, 1999)
Author: Brett Christophers
Amazon base price: $27.95
Average review score:

Positioned for success
A challenging but interesting and ultimately rewarding read. Christophers develops his theme with an almost lyrical style, the evolutionary passages setting the scene for his later analysis with his trademark deconstuctionist prose. His insights carry one successfully to a level of understanding which makes one almost embarrassed to have become so involved in such a remarkably obscure topic - but perhaps not for much longer! If this remarkable literary and research talent never writes again at least we shall have Positioning The Missionary as both a stunning debut and worthy legacy.

Rocks and Minerals: The New Compact Study Guide and Identifier (Identifying Guide Series)
Published in Hardcover by Book Sales (May, 1993)
Author: Basil Booth
Amazon base price: $7.99
Used price: $5.65
Average review score:

A Book in Needed
It's a nice book full of recent illustrations that are very helpful to understand how some rocks or minerals look. It included everything I was looking for except maybe for a few things like clastic rocks. It's a thin book easy to carry around and include things like the hardness of a mineral and what it's use for. Over all, this is a great book for those who are intrested in rocks and minerals with the very basic ideas to get you started. I liked this book and it has done me a great deal even when it's real thin.
