Read Entire Book in One Sitting
I remember in 1991 sitting in the airport waiting for my flight back to Seattle. I went into the bookstore and saw Bo Jackson's book. Not having anything else to read, I bought the book and immediately began reading it. I read during my flight home and finished it at Sea-Tac Airport.

It was a very engrossing book. It told of Bo Jackson's early years as a child then as a teenager then adult. Then Jackson told of the forever tragedy that would end his sports career: a hip-injury during a 1990 playoff game.

I remember growing up watching Bo Jackson dominate baseball then football. He became someone I looked up to as a teenager. Then as I became an adult, my own injury put me in Bo Jackson's own shoes. We each had difficult bouts of walking "normally" again. Although Bo Jackson never played football again, he returned to baseball with less than average results. But he kept his head up high and moved on from sports.

Bo Jackson's autobiography gives the reader that sense of accomplishment; that sense of overcoming obstacles when the odds are against you. I view Bo Jackson's book as a preview of his will to overcome his hip injury and become the man he is today.

A very good book
this is a good book bo took you into his world and let you see the life from the point of view from the greatest two sport athlete of all time.

This book was fantastic.
I thought the book was great and truly honest. I think Bo Jackson is a great role model for children.

Devilboy is my hero!
This book was way cool! I have been a fan of Steven's art for a few years now and all of his work is great. Devilboy is a really cool character he's my hero for now... And the story about the old woman in the shoe is great. I recommend this book to anyone who has a great twisted sense of humor. You will definatley enjoy it!

Crap is good!
This book was great! I have been a fan of Steven's art for a few years now and really like his work. I have shown the book to a few close friends and they are looking forward getting their own copy. Check out [publisher's website] for other cool stuff like T-Shirts.

Shel Silverstein from hell....
I first stumbled across Steven's work on the internet while just messing around. The man is an incredible artist, and even better, he is sick in the head. I always loved the simple, strange child like style of Silverstein, but it never went quite far enough. Steven Vincent takes us over the edge and straight into the ground with a sickening splat. Illustrations that by themselves alone just make you laugh because you are either worried by them that much, or you are as sick as Vincent himself. His stories and rhymes will amuse anyone with a decent sense of humor, and will pleasantly offend anyone without one. All my friends I've shown his books to would gladly buy their own copies ... .

FUNdamental Soccer - Practice

Making practice fun
FUNdamental Soccer Practice is chock-o-block filled with fun drills to make practice more like a party than a chore. There are many activities which keep young players giggling while working hard to improve their skills. I used suggestions from this book for three years to plan practices and took a travelling team of girls from the cellar of division four up to a contender in division two; laughing all the way. This is a creative and fun book!

The FUNdamental SOCCER Method worked for me!!!
...Written by Karl Dewazien, California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) director of coaching since 1978, this book showed me 'how to' develop, organize and run a successful youth practice. The book has apparently been translated into 'Spanish and Chinese' and is currently used by coaches in the People's Republic of China. It is also being used by CYSA as a coaching school manual -I know this for a fact since that is where I received my first copy. The pages are delightfully illustrated with games and activities that can be easily implemented by anyone. After I started to apply the FUNdamental Soccer method my players didn't want to leave our practices. I have learned to disguise the hard work that it takes to become a good soccer player and youth soccer team. This book gets my 'two thumbs' up!!!

Essential to the beginning coach
Recently I received a telephone call from a friend in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was looking for a soccer book suitable for beginning coaches and beginning players.

I thought that such a request was easy to fill. I have several shelves of books from various parts of the United States and Europe. But as I examined the books, I realized that I was wrong.

Most authors assume that the reader is an experienced coach. Thus, terms are used without definition. The mechanics of technique were alluded to but never illstrated.

I was becoming frustrated.

Then I came upon Karl Dewazien's book FUNdamental SOCCER -Practice. It was perfect for my friend in Tulsa. The book is clearly written and the illustrations by Joseph G.Garcia appear on almost every page. There are no assumptions; it is all there!

What makes this book so useful?

If a coach wants to teach soccer he must start with some concepts of pedagogy, which is the title of Section 1. From there Dewazien outlines the organization and necessities of a practice session.

Following this, Dewazien develops themes that should be introduced into the practice. The themes are developmental and sequential, beginning with dribbling, and ending with 'controlling flighted ball' and the throw-in.

The book ends with a section on small sided games followed by modified laws of the game for players under six, eight, ten or twelve.

Dewazien approaches soccer training as an educator. As a result, he is well organized, clear, and most concerned with participant having FUN.

The core of the book is the section on small sided games. He is an expert, and if children are to have fun, they must have FUN GAMES.

I highly recommend this book for all coaches. For the inexperienced coach of young players, it will become a must book. For experienced coaches, it offers hints of organization that may have been forgotten. One example is the "Six step approach for Improving the Player." Any coach can benifit from reviewing the six steps.

An experience! d soccer friend borrowed my copy of the book to review the small-sided games. Something for everyone.

Dewazien and Garcia have achieved a good blend creating a book well written and clearly illustrated. A rare accomplishment. "FUNdamental SOCCER Pratice" is the best buy on the soccer book market and essential to the begining coach.

Gunshot Wounds: Practical Aspects of Firearms, Ballistics, and Forensic Techniques (CRC Series in Practical Aspects of Criminal and Forensic Investi)

Shocking
Very informative about the destructive power a bullet can have. As wrong as this may sound, if you own guns and have children, this is a good book to buy. It is difficult to explain to a child what a bullet can do to a human being. With this, you can show them.

An excellent textbook on the subject of firearm injuries
This text should be in the library of any reader who has an interest in the topic of guns and the injuries they produce. While written with the practising forensic pathologist in mind, the book is appropriate for investigators, attorneys and other healthcare providers. The discussions of firearms and their features are very good and should help those with limited knowledge about guns understand what they do, how they do it and the terminology used in the field.

The only book you will ever need on the topic.
As a criminal defense attorney, my clients freedom often rests on my ability to understand the technical aspects of a case. While I will seldom, if ever, know more than the "expert" opposing me, understanding the topic in a straight forward and simple manner makes my interaction with that expert a benefit to my client. This to the point of knowing when not to say anything. This book provides a one-stop resource for all aspects of firearms, gunshot wounds, and the related forensic techniques and methods. A must for anyone who needs to understand, in plain language, the issues that come into play in gunshot injury and firearm cases. The photographs, x-rays, and diagrams provide an excellent point of reference for the text.

Doctors Prefer Dinner Meetings For Learning
All the studies available show that MD's prefer peer forums and meetings over sales rep presentations. I recently read a report that showed that 65% of physicians surveyed preferred MD forums over sales rep visits.
As sales manager for a pharmaceutical company, I made the decision to purchase "How To Conduct Doctor Dinner Meetings," for all of my district managers and sales reps.
This book provides all of the latest AMA/PhRMA/FDA Guidelines, the "How To" of contacting physicians and other healthcare to set up the meetings.
This is a great book and it is standard issue to all of my sales reps.

This Book Cost Me Nothing!
This is a great book on how to conduct doctor dinner meetings, but what makes it even greater is that it was essentially free! After I bought the book, I went to their website listed in the book, downloaded the forms for a 360 Degree Selling Consultant sales planning tool, and faxed them to the publisher. Within twenty four hours I received a free 360 Degree Sales Strategy Report on one of my doctors. The report is valued at twenty five dollars, so the book cost me nothing. I have never seen any other selling book make such an offer.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Dinner Meetings
This book covers everything you need to know about doctor dinner meetings, from pre-meeting planning to post meeting follow-up activities.

Honest Truth
Norman Vincent Peale is a true desciple of our Christian faith. Dr. Peale understands not only people but he understands the meaning of God. Dr. Peale is a remarkable man. I wish I had met him. Dr. Peale's book, "In God We Trust" has a truly special place in my small personal library of great literature. Thank you Sir, for your insight and help.

peace of mind
Before I read this book I thought that I was going to loose my mind. This book taught me to believe what I have forgotten. That through faith you can conquer all. I needed something that was straight to the point and powerful. Loved this book immenesely; it truely gave me a peace of mind.

Another winner from Norman Vincent Peale
I have read 95% of his books and they have all been wonderful. This one is no exception. Although this one is more updated than many of his older works thereby making it easier to relate to. Dr. Peale was a very inspiring preacher/author and any book you can get your hands on with his name on it is worth every effort.

This book will inspire and uplift you. It doesn't contain complicated theological jargon, but clear cut principles that everyone can relate to.

Not a hard read by any means.

Essential Reading
Yes, essential for all the faithful who are frustrated and anguished at the sight of Holy Mother Church secularized, desacralized, and weakened, while the forces of barbarism gain strength through an ever-increasing number of adherents. Bear in mind that Father Miceli wrote "The Antichrist" 20 years ago; the world is far more awash in sewage today than it was in 1981.

To be sure, Father Miceli can get carried away on occasion, and his condemnation of Communism was more appropriate two decades ago than it is currently. Nevertheless, he makes a powerful case, and one that is at least as fresh and relevant today as it was 20 years ago.

This book can be found. Find it.

Truly insightful
Many would like to believe that evil is a myth and that all things can be controlled by humans. Read this, and see what your conclusions might be. I found it to be a real eye opener.

The Antichrist-Micelli
Although published nearly 20 years ago, the subject matter is an object of faith and time plays only a small role. Fr. Micelli provides thoughtful guidance through the centuries on the types that forshadow the antichrist (the person). It is clear that we live today in an age of apostacy, and have already experienced the 20th Centuries plagues, wars, and the like. The faithless West and the Atheistic East are busy paving the way for the ultimate revelation, the Second Coming.

Fr. Micelli's account is scholarly with annotations that are understandable. And while some may stumble on a few meanings, i.e., eschatology, soteriolgy, etc. the use of a dictionary may be of some use.

I, a simple laymen, would encourage every Catholic and Christian to read this account. It will help redirect the meaning of his life and guide one to a greater awareness of directions we are quickly moving.

Cancer Principles & Practice of Oncology (Two Volumes)
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (1997)
Authors: Vincent T., Jr., Md. Devita, Samuel, MD Hellman, and Steven A., MD Rosenberg
Amazon base price: $255.00
Used price: $12.50
Average review score:

Cumbersome organization
Although the Devita text is a good resource, it has important drawbacks. In every edition, including the latest one, too much information has been out of date even at the first day of publication. Several other major oncology texts somehow manage to avoid this problem much better. Also, since the text comes out every two years, information in the current edition is already at least 3 years old or older. Beyond this, the index is detailed but it still is hard to find specific information, i.e., the book is clumsily organized. Finally, the CD version has the worst search program that I have ever used. You can enter information with any degree of specificity and the search will retrieve (at best) a list of chapters and major chapter sections in which to look. You then have to read through miles of text to find the information that you wanted. Searchability is one of the main reasons for buying a CD and I consider the Devita CD virtually worthless.

Simply THE source.
As a resident, I use this book as a first resource for almost all Oncology reading. By your second year of residency you should be getting a lot of your data from the literature rather than texts, but it is still very useful to have a text summery to start from. Take prostate cancer as an example. You can read the DeVita chapter in a (long) afternoon and have an excellent base to expand from. Furthermore, the hundreds of references for each chapter are essentially a list of every landmark article on that topic. If you are an intern or MS4 and you are going to go Rad-Onc, Internal then Med-Onc, OB-Gyn Onc, or even Surgery or Dermatology then you simply need this book. There is nothing else that comes close. To be honest, if you are building any type of medical library whatsoever, you need this book. By the way, mine came with the CD-Rom version on the inside of the back cover for free! Check with your retailer to see if yours will, too. Best of luck, study hard- CURE CANCER!

quit enough source
this book is considered one of the text...that make the specialest so much satisfied by the quality and quantity of the information it contain and the it is discussed. but for us in middle east it is very [pricey]. you will understand that when you know that my monthly salary as an assesstent lecturer inradiation oncology dept.; Alazhar university, Cairo, Egypt;... a low price edition will be much helpful and very wise to prevent illegal copying of the book. thanks a lote

The Complete Letters of Vincent Van Gogh
Published in Hardcover by Bulfinch Press (1991)
Amazon base price: $
Collectible price: $585.00
Average review score:

If you have the time...
I've seen Van Gogh's paintings many times in various museums and I find him one of the most fascinating characters in the history of art. Vincent's letters correspondence with his brother Theo are both revealing and transformative. Vincent writes as he painted--with great passion as he tries to communicate his inspirations, insights and frustrations to his dear brother Theo. The result of reading them is that they make you, the reader, see things in a new light.

This three-volume compendium is essentially everything you'd ever want to know about Vincent and then some. Frankly, for me though it was too much. To wade through Vincent's endless letters and replies was more work than pleasure. Though I didn't feel comfortable settling for any of the abridged collections that various biographers have published recently.

The only one of such books that I would recommend is "Stranger on the Earth : A Psychological Biography of Vincent Van Gogh" by Albert J. Lubin, which is a fascinating and, thankfully, shorter insight into Vincent's fascinatingly fragile personality.

Vincent Van Gogh correspondence
This beautiful set of Van Gogh's letters starts with an introduction by his nephew (Theo's son) and a biography of Vincent Van Gogh by his sister-in-law , Theo's widow. It is a special set of books. The boxed set is very beautiful and I have it on display in my living room. I was fortunate enough to have seen the Van Gogh exhibit in Amsterdam ..., (and to have seen the Van Gogh exhibit when it came to the U.S. over 30 years ago. ...). I feel the artist's extraordinary family did so much to bring his art and writing to us, including this lovely book set. I thought the ... price was most reasonable considering what I got, and it made my trip to Holland even more special!

An invaluable Van Gogh resource
This three volume set is an absolutely invaluable reference for any Van Gogh enthusiast. Van Gogh's letters offer tremendous insights into his life and works. That's why a complete set of the letters is a must--most of the other versions are heavily edited ("butchered" some would say). Dr. Jan Hulsker (one of the world's foremost Van Gogh scholars) once wrote: "[His letters] enable us to know more about Van Gogh's life and mentality than we do of any other artist. The letters form a running commentary on his work, and a human document without parallel."

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is working on an exciting and ambitious project to issue a completely new and revised set of the letters, but until that extraordinary reference is available, this set is the next best thing. Even for those not especially interested in Van Gogh's art, the letters are a striking, and sometimes painful, exploration of a man consumed with doubt, filled with compassion and profoundly troubled.
