Laugh out loud
Hilarious. I can't wait for Cindy Vincent's next book. If you love Evanovich, Strohmeyer, Heller (Jane), Crusie, you'll adore Vincent. It's a mystery that's very funny. Great characters. A little bit of sexiness. You will laugh out loud, and boy that feels good! Thanks Cindy.

We need more books like this.
In today's world we could all use a little laughter and Makeover for Murder definitely provided that. The author did a wonderful job of intertwining mystery with comedy leaving the killer literally a mystery until the very end.

It was refreshing to see humour in things that usually raise blood pressure, like trying to deal with someone who takes their job too seriously, or the over-zealous, pretentious hostess. This book is riddled with everyday life situations with a comedic twist. My favorite part of the book was the scene where Kate Bundeen, the heroine, was trying to "pour herself" into spandex underwear. Just thinking about that description brings a smile back to my face.

Makeover for Murder was an easy, enjoyable read and I can't wait to read her next book. In the meantime, I will enjoy this book again the next time I need a good laugh.

Many Beautiful Things - An appropriate title
Every once in a while a book comes along that doesn't try to be dark and mysterious, or technical and scientific, or highfalutin in any way. Instead this book simply wants to tell some pleasant stories. Many Beautiful Things is a book that does just this, it shares great stories (and recipes) in a simple, yet unforgettable way.
In his new book, Vincent Schiavelli takes us along on his journey to Polizzi Generosa, a quaint Sicilian town. Along the way, we witness the natural beauty of Polizzi; meet its people, who find joy and happiness in the simple lives they lead; and taste Polizzi's exquisite culinary creations (don't worry, Mr. Schiavelli gives you the recipes for them all)!
Although Mr. Schiavelli has successfully taken on many roles as an actor, in Many Beautiful Things, he takes on a role in which he is equally successful - that of a masterful writer. Schiavelli brings to life the landscape, people, and food of Polizzi through vivid images that seem to come more from the strokes of an artist's brush than from an author's pen.
"...[S]emolina bread toasted in the wood-burning pizza oven and topped with the ripest chopped tomatoes mixed with fragrant fresh basil, and drizzled with local extra-virgin olive oil" makes a dish that is, basically, a typical "bruschetta" seem worthy of being displayed next to the Mona Lisa in the Louvre!
Those unfamiliar with Polizzi Generosa need only to read Schiavelli's words to understand what an incredible place it is; "Before us lay a mountain pasture, dotted with olive trees ...The room filled with clean, cold mountain air. It was scented with wild fennel, and bay laurel, and earth - rich, fertile earth."
Reading Many Beautiful Things seems to transport you to a different world where the only things important in life are helath, friends and family, and a good spread of food. This book is filled exactly with what the title says, "many beautiful things!" There is one problem, however, that you may have with this book after reading it - you won't know whether to hop a flight to Sicily or fire up the stove! Thanks Vincent for showing us "many beautiful things!"

"ManyBeatutiful Things" Beautiful book
The author/actor Vincent Schiavelli has done it again. His latest cookbook with stories and recipes is a real treat, not only for the tummy but for the soul too. The recipes I have tasted so far are wonderfully delicious. The stories are so touching to the heart that I found myself teary eyed over the pasta sauce. This beautiful book should be in everyone's cook library, and it can hold it's place in any other library as well. Bravo Mr. Schiavelli for another great installment of Sicilian cuisine and culture.
I highly recommend this book. 5 stars in my book.

A book of gracious living
After I saw the "Mad Magician" when I was 14, I became a Vincent Price fan forever. What a wonderful surprise to discover that he also loved art and cooking! I saw him lecture on art at the University of Kentucky and read his book "I Like What I Know." I was thrilled to buy his book in the late 60's--it has remained one of my most prized possessions. The recipes are just the best, but the real wonderment for me was to see the beautiful full page color plates of his house and his extensive collection of plates, glasses, pots, pans, etc. All sorts of things I had never heard of at the time. Just wonder-full. I enjoyed your life, too. Thank you and God bless you, Vincent!

Is the best cook book in America!
I've been looking for this book for many years, and infortunatly I coudln't find it. I hope, Amazon.com can to find it for me. I will be very glad for your help. thank you. (SORRY, BUT I'M LEARNING ENGLISH)

Excellant
Read this book and take a class from Dr. Lambordi is my recommedation to all who study at MSU.

Beautiful philosophy
This book is probably one of the most revolutionary books written in the past twenty years. It provides very rich philosophy, and at the same time keeps the reader engaged to the compelling story of a young girl accused of killing her mother who experiences a spiritual transformation with the help of a humanistic psychologist. Also, I have Professor Lombardi for a class at Michigan Sate University and have to say that the man incredibly well versed in many forms of philosophy and metapsychological viewpoints. My reccomendation is to read this book and take in all that it teaches, and use it in your life.

Meet the Hormones
Published in Paperback by Upfront Publishing (2002)
Author: Paul Vincent
Amazon base price: $14.00
Average review score:

A delight and a page turner.
This is the first book in a long time that I have read in one go.
It kept me amused for a flight and the first day of my holiday. Very funny, very light and just a little bit gritty to give it spice.

ENORMOUS FUN
This book is very funny and very quick to read. It is a comedy done from the perspective of people's hormones, who represent our conflicting impulses and baser thoughts. The humans are totally clueless and stumble through a life of bad relationships and bad jobs, while the hormones do their level best to make life even more problematic. I loved it. I laughed over and over again, and I don't laugh easy.

After studying with Mr. Bredice for a few years, I can say hands down this is one of the best methods out there for mastering the fretboard. In his words, "If you can do all the exerscises in this book you are literally a virtuoso."

Amazing!
As a guitarist I have sought out various books to help me in my endevour to learn the guitar. This book is astounding!

I have always wanted to just pick up a guitar and play, or play lead while another person is playing rhythem.

I highly recommend this book for anybody seeking to learn scales, chords, and just about anything else!

I love it!

A Winner!
Every counselor and educator should own this clearly written, easy to read book about the prevalence of alcohol addiction and marketing in America. Covers specific groups as well as population in general. Comprehensive, up to date, superbly outlined and indexed, it hits hard at the problem. Excellent section on treatment. Invaluable also for family members of any age, as well as professionals. Factual, provocative, alarming, educational, helpful -- this book is first rate in every way.

Great Job Vince, Bernie & Gary!!
This is a great, long awaited text! I may be biased, since I helped with some of it for my Graduate work!! This book should be purchased by anyone who is interested in knowing how we as Americans came to have such a problem with Alcohol. It should be purchased & read by all students in social work, counseling, psychology & other social studies fields if they plan to work with addicted clients. It reads relatively easy & has several references to help the lay person understand the terminology used when dealing with those who are addicted & their families.

The New Complete Van Gogh : Paintings, Drawings, Sketche

An absolute must-have book for Van Gogh enthusiasts.
Dr. Jan Hulsker's 1996 catalogue raisonné of Van Gogh's complete works is a treasure for anyone interested in the life and works of Vincent van Gogh.

Jan Hulsker is one of the world's foremost scholars on Vincent van Gogh and this book is the first new catalogue of the complete works to come along in 26 years. The listings are updated and the commentary--as one would expect from Dr. Hulsker--is crisp and insightful.

This book is an invaluable part of my Van Gogh library--I honestly couldn't get along without it in my own studies of Van Gogh's art.

Hey, Save your teeth!
If you thought you knew how to brush your teeth yet your gums were bleeding and teeth were getting wobbly and bridges at the best were in store, read this book to fight off this "aging" process. Many of his suggestions have since been incorporated into toothpaste formulas, proxabrushes, etc.

Basics your parents AND dentist never taught you
This was a great book and I notice on today's grocery shelves that finally many manufacturers are following Dr. Cali's simple recomendations from more than 14 years ago. Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide diluted by half as a mouth wash, tooth brushes and brushing, it's amazing how much you never knew before and no one bothered to tell you. Everyone knows how to brush their teeth. Right? Wrong!(I'm a prime example of more than 40 years ignorance on the subject) and Dr. Cali's book gives you the simple tips to effectively brush your teeth--and gums. Since that's what we're talking about here, the gum disease that's the most common cause of tooth loss after the age of 40. Expensive and timely stuff crowns, bridges, implants, dentures-- and often not necessary if you follow Dr. Cali's simple advice early enough. I hope it can be updated for the end of this millenium and re-published.
