Account of the Black Charaibs in the Island of st Vincents

HONDURAS GARAFINA VIA ST VINCENTS AND AFRICA
This is the first book I have ever read which speaks to the origin of both St. Vincents Island and what today we call Honduras. The majesty of precolonial East African people lives on through the African slaves who were washed ashore on St. Vincents and lived to grow and thrive. So successful were they, that the mighty English military had to physically capture and deport them to Honduras, where they again grew and thrived.

The descendents of those very people now populate much of today's Honduras and St. Vincents Island. They fashioned their own language, which has survived and is now known as garifanu. This book is must reading for those who are serious about the real Central American History.

Fascinating book
I highly recommend this book. I picked it up at my grandparents' house and couldn't put it down. It tells the personal accounts of a devastating, unexpected Minnesota blizzard that caught hundreds of hunters out on what was expected to be a beautiful, mild Indian summer day. The details are memorable: women caught wearing sandals in the snow, people taking hours to walk 2 blocks, and more. This book is one of those valuable record-keepers of Minnesota history. Thanks to the publisher for publishing it.

Indispensible
This book is not terribly easy to use. But that's because Navajo is not terribly easy to speak -- or (looking at it the other way) to analyze. So I caution readers that they should spend some time learning the organization of the lexicon before they expect to be able to use it fluently.

However, this book is /the/ must-own book for anyone who studies Navajo language or culture. Its thoroughness (somewhere over twenty-five thousand entries, I think) is astounding.

A treasure chest of wonderful stories.
A book of encouraging stories and poems for our young generation to teach them everything from self-discipline, responsibility, honesty, loyalty etc. Read when George Washington was 14 year's old he wrote 110 best ways to act around people, he called it the "Rules of Civility". Read Walt Whitman's ode to Abe Lincoln, and my favourite by Frank Crane, entittled "Boy Wanted". Though the tittle of this book refers "for Young People" I think adults can without a doubt learn as well. I certainly have and I am in my fifth decade of my life.

eye-opening
I appreciated this book for its Christian perspective on a few of my favorite Shakespeare plays. The author explored not only the plots, but also the characters' relationships to Christ. The author made insightful parallels and comparisons between the characters and Christ and His church. I also appreciated the critiques of some of the film versions of the plays. I heartily recommend this eye-opening book!
