A weath of infomation.
I was lucky to find it in an antique store, but what a load of infomation it has provided me. It has given me more training advice and tips that I can use on western horses through to hunters. Starting from the foal to yearlings to finishing, he is practicle informative of training a well manered and obidient horse and is not bias in the breed of horses he uses. I found this a great book for any one who wants to lern more on riding and horsemanship. John Richard Young is a great horseman and knows and respects his horses.

A Timeless Work
I originally read this book almost 20 years ago (1983), along with John Richard Young's Schooling for Young Riders (also a must-read for beginners). The book is full of gentle, caring wisdom about the nature of horses and how best to partner with them. The author includes information about everything the novice horseman needs to know, from equipment to a variety of specific training and communication techniques. I have never encountered a better, more comprehensive text for the beginner who wishes to progess to confident competence. I highly recommend anything ever written by this author. It is a loss to us all that his books are no longer in print; he was ahead of his time 50 years ago, and he's still far more progressive than many contemporary trainers.

Truly romantic and funny
This has to be one of the best SVU books around! Jessica and Ben are now a couple, but that doesn't mean it's going to stay that way before next summer. When Jessica's foot gets split open by a knife in the sand ON THE BEACH Ben's right there not even caring about her blood on him. They are such a sweet couple! Elizabeth and Ryan eventually make-up with each other- more like MAKE-OUT actually. The Sweet Valley Shore team is being sabotaged by non-other then Rachel! In the end, which is entirely predictable, she gets into trouble, Elizabeth and Ryan get together, Jessica and Ben worry about keeping touch when their living miles away from each other. You'll have to see what happens in the next Lifeguard miniseries! You won't believe it!

This is GREAT!
This is a great book. I got it from the library and simply loved it. I think Jess and Ben make a cute couple. Todd and Elizabeth also do. I think it was romantic when Jess waz dripping blood on Ben, and he didn't care. He cared if he waz holdin her right.

Scary but well written!
Talons-an appropriate name. I love how John Peel described the creature that haunted Kari, its hunger for death, and how she had to resist joining it. I'm thankful that he didn't include any really gory aspects, just giving you an idea that lets you imagine the rest. I also liked how John Peel included some family problems, and letting Kari realize that Dr. Grant wasn't all that she thought she was. I think that this is the second best horror book for young adults that I've ever read! (Shattered, also by John Peel, comes first.)

Talons is a fun, exciting book.
Talons is a fun, exciting book. It has a cool, original plot and fluid, believable dialogue. The characters are well developed and likeable (or unlikeable, as the case may be). Peel does a masterful job of tossing in facts about Norse legends and history without them bogging down the story. Although for me it wasn't a problem, some people may find the magic-based concept a bit tough to swallow. All in all, it was a very good book, and I would recommend it to almost everyone, especially fans of Stephen King.

Extremely Strong!
Ryle's work is timeless. You will chuckle at some of the exhortations to stay away from books and newspapers that will lead to sin. If only Ryle could see us now, with cable tv and the internet.

Ryle's advice is biblical and practical. It is wise. It will help any young man who takes it seriously to live a more obedient, full life.

A Profound Exhortation
This is an excellent book for adolescent and teen boys to read. It encourages them to choose the high path of integrity rather than to yield to the many temptations to stray from that path. The author's style is one of a passionate appeal based on solid logic and the truth of the Scriptures.

The Ultimate Guide to the Sky: How to Find Constellations and Read the Night Sky Like a Pro

Excellent classroom resource!
I purchased this book when it first came out, and have been using each year while teaching my fifth grade students about the constellations. It is concise but easy to comprehend for this age level. Students enjoy using it so much, that it has ended up in several hiding places throughout my room in anticipation of other students wanted to use it. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!!!

Fun to Read but also excellent reference!
My 6 year old picked this book out at a book store and I was a little wary. But it is a great book. It gives information about each constellation and where to find it as well as some background on the mythical character. The star finder really does help to locate the constellations. My niece picked up the book and immediately had to borrow it and read it cover to cover - now I'm ordering her her own.

Bytheway puts dating phobias to rest
Trying to find the right companion, struggling with the dating game, or even thinks about marriage, John Bytheway knows how to fight the good fight. In his book What I Wish I'd Known When I Was Single, Bytheway teaches readers to see past the game and look for what is important in an eternal spouse.
This well-known motivational speaker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and author of LDS youth books such as What I Wish I'd Known When I Was in High School and Dating 911 uses his extensive knowledge of gospel doctrine and personal experiences to put common marriage phobias to rest. Bytheway communicates with singles after spending the years following his LDS mission in search of an eternal companion. Bytheway currently works as an institute teacher at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Using the format of a piano concerto, Bytheway starts with the "Program Notes" and continues until the "Finale: Crescendo." The nine movements give advice on everything from who you should and should not date to dealing with a failing relationship.
Although this is not a work by a church authority and is, therefore, the author's own ideas, readers can easily relate to the straightforward tales of love and relationships.
The insightful words of ecclesiastical leaders, parents, and entertainers combine to form a guide for readers who are clueless about single life.
Through humor and common sense, readers will be thrilled to learn that hope exists for all of us who are sick of that four letter word: Date.

What I Wish I'd Known When I Was Single- How To Do LIfe As A
John has done it again. This is full of humor and good advice for anyone who has been there. His parable of the piano is one we can all relate to. John lends his credibility to the subject and does so in a manner that will have you nodding your head in agreement and rolling with laughter!

The X Window System: Programming and Applications With XT (Open Look Edition)

Excellent Introduction to Motif programming
This well written book, with numerous coded examples (that work!) is one of the best computer reference book I've encountered. Although it has not been updated to included Motif 2.1, most applications are still being written in Motif 1.2 anyway. It also includes the necessary Xt and X11 background to write GUIs. I went from zero experience with windows programming to writing full featured X-windows applications solely with the aid of this text and elementary knowledge of C. The author, who worked at Silicon Graphics, went on to write the Open Inventor library (which unfortunately is in C++). Great book!

One of the best for Xt/Motif Programming
Once upon a time, when I moved from Windows programming environment to X-Windows.. I found things were so diffiult for me.

Lucky me, one day I went to the library and found this book. It helped me to get start with X programming in s considerable short time. The step of this book is quite easy to follow, and not difficult to understand. At least it made X more friendly to me. Although it was Japanese edition and my Japanese isn't that good. (And I will buy the English edition soon).

If you want to program in X, this one is a must, Along O'Reilly X Reference Series (which I think is the best of X-Ref).

Good story, lots of action, & Sabretooth vs. Wolverine!!!
A good story with good art, featuring the first appearence of the Marauders, the foundation for Excalibur, the loss of Angel's wings, and the deaths of most of the Morlocks! There are two Wolvie vs. Sabretooth battles and some sub plots featuring X-Factor, Power Pack, Thor, and the New Mutants.

Claremont's X-Men at his best
This is a complete collection of what is probably the first crossover storyline ever in the X-Men titles. Claremont wrote this one long before Marvel's current economic straits, when good writing came first and foremost. Includes the hard-to-find Thor and Power Pack issues as well.

The Young John Muir: An Environmental Biography
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Wisconsin Pr (01 January, 1999)
Author: Steven J. Holmes

Masterfully, Intricately-Done Biography
Environmental History is a growing and much-needed field of Academia. John Muir, a peaceful yet titanic figure in America's own enviromental movement, like Rachel Carson, like, in his own right-Teddy Roosevelt, is a Pioneer of this movement. Professor Steven J.Holmes. Lecturer in History and Literature at Harvard University, has produced a deeply poignant book about this deeply thoughtful man, i.e. in Muir's "formative" years, wherein his Scottish roots clashed, then melded and germinated beautifully with the ever-more wild Wisconsin of Muir's American years. Yet this child of Dunbar, Scotland, was to, even at the "tadpole's age" of five, begin having transformative and even existential experiences, mostly derived from and spawned by the "Wilderness," by Nature, but too by Muir's love for his beloved mother. According to Holmes' carefully-documented and sourced biographical history of Muir, the young Lad had, even at a VERY young(before age 2)age, an UNCANNY ability to interact with, respond to, and above all, Deeply TRUST his Mother-especially, began when John Muir was just two months of age. Yet to me, with Mother Earth being THE all-powerful and nurturing, kindly force that this species MUST needs be recognize(i.e., Patriarchal societies are NOW too destructive, for Mother Earth to sustain, much longer), these Youthful, formative instinctive developments on Muir's part would become incredibly important in and to that "ecocentric perspective,"(182) as Holmes terms it, that would dominate this quixotically wild but peace-loving man's entire Life's viewpoint, all to the LONG-TERM betterment(IF we can only LISTEN-NOW, if not SOONER) of this Nation-State, and this species.

An Excellent Biography!
I have been an admirer of John Muir since I was a young child. This book is excellent in the way in which Steven J. Holmes captures the essence of a man who continues to inspire persons of all ages and backgrounds with his life. It offers intimate glimpses into Muir's experiences as well as a new perspective into understanding Muir as a universalist humanitarian and hero.

Young Men With Unlimited Capital: The Story of Woodstock
Published in Paperback by Scrivenery Press (1999)
Authors: Joel Rosenman, John Roberts, and Robert Pilpel
Amazon base price: $15.00
Average review score:

Read it twice
I am not a book reader, probably to my discredit. But not only did I read this one, I read it twice. It is a truly fascinating account of how Woodstock came to be. After reading it, one will be more amazed than ever that the event happened at all, once one sees all that these two guys overcame or endured to bring it about. It is a captivating and entertaining book.

Been There; Didn't Know That
I was at the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair. I was young.

This book is an amazing, and surprisingly humorous, inside look at the machinations I never saw. The sometimes bizarre efforts that made Woodstock possible.

Even if you don't agree with the Woodstock sentiment, you should buy this book as a reference to THE icon of 1960s America.
