A Fascinating Lifestyle
I really enjoyed this book. The Cahuilla Indians led a fascinating existence living in the mountains and deserts of Southern California (near Palm Springs). The book describes the way that they adapted to their environment and live in the mountains in the summer and the desert in the winter. This is a very good educational book.

Excellent book. Real life situations that teach successfully
This book is practical, and includes real life situations.
My students found it not only interesting because of the
authors writing style, but because they could understand
the pitfalls and other minefields that they will have to
face when they enter the field of business. I think the author did an excellent job.

A great supplement to any study of biology
This book provides a fascinating introduction to the operations of cells. It is intellectually honest. John Young points out where the gaps between what is known and unknown pertaining to cellular function are. Many if not most biology texts avoid such discussions. It is also an example of great science writing. The book inspires and informs at the same time. I was hooked when I read the sections regarding protein transport. If you're studying biology at the high school or college level and really want to understand what's going on, buy this book. Avoid this book if you're looking for a way to get a better grade on a standardized test or a mid-term.

One of the best!
An excellent book detailing the perils and possibilities of Blackness in America. While there are references to African American/New York-centric institutions (such as the I-Be-Damn News) that may escape some readers, it provides a viciously funny, historically accurate and insightful look at a community in transition.

A great lift the flap book for Elmo lovers
Our toddler loves this book. Particuarly the confusion between "flamingo" and "flamenco". Now when he sees flamingos in real life he says no and vigorously shakes his head. "Not the flamingo, the flamenco Dorothy" ;-)

I loved this book, its the best yet.
This book was the best I have ever read. The epilogue left me hanging. I think John Hall should write a Dear Sister 2: The revenge of Trisha. I loved the way it always left you hanging, and it made you think it was Joanna was the killer. I never thought it would be Trisha! I think John Hall should definately write a sequel! Thanks for the best book yet!

Practical insights about "rebooting" technical staff
Information Technology organizations too often assume that they can solve productivity and effectiveness problems simply by installing new tools and mandating their use. Mr. Merlyn, et. al., offer powerful insights into why you can't reboot systems *people* as easily as you can reboot the systems they work on. This book provides theoretical/philosophical context coupled with practical advice for addressing the challeges of change management in a technology context. I highly recommend this book for CIOs and technology leaders at any level.

Intro to Science Dream
I am teaching Physical Science, an intro to science freshman course, at a high school in NH. I asked my students to find some information on who discovered the parts of the atom for homework. Most of my students didn't have much success with the internet, their science text book, or other text books. However, one of my students brought in this book. It had a full page on the information that I was looking for, plus other references on other aspects of the atom. The atom wasn't the only topic that I was impressed with. In general it contains an excellent, basic description of most fundamentals of science. For a teacher that is trying to find new ways of presenting information, it is truely a find. It is also a great companion for the student that might have a little trouble in the sciences. There are wonderful, full-color illustrations to accompany simple, yet well written and content filled text. In short, I was very impressed with this book. Not to mention the author was also involved in another of my favorite books "The Way Things Work". If I could require this book for my students, and reccommend it to all science teachers, I would.
