The grand fallacy
yes, I've never read this book, i've never even seen it. Yet... Yet, I must say that Reachin, Blowout Comb, Low End Theory, and People's Instinctive, are some of the most accurate and impressive examples of the bop jazz fusion of the early 90s. Buy the book please, then recommend it to me. But before you purchase this book (albeit probably splendid) please buy the best album ever MC 900 FT Jesus- One Step Ahead of the Spider

A superior reference for anyone involved in Youth Ministry !
Of the thousands of references I've used during my ten years in youth ministry, Quick Studies, "Acts & Romans" would have to be the best. It is always effective. The questions that are asked to support each chapter are intellectually stimulating as well as age appropriate. So often, youth ministry resources that claim to be for high schoolers are better suited for junior high children. Not so with this wonderfully researched Bible Study. Getting kids to enthusiastically focus on Romans used to be like pulling teeth, but the authors of this reference hit the mark. Alot of the 'Opening Acts' are less than adequate, subsequently I rarely use them. The questions are excellent. Adults are asking to join my high school class, and a major reason is because of the resources I use, such as this one. Tom Van Wyen : Youth Director - Willow Street Mennonite Church

Stayed up all night to read about what happened to this boy.
I'm just a housewife in North Dakota with not much time to read. But once I started reading The Rawleigh Man Told Me in the evening I could not put it down until I found out what happened to this boy. I had heard about the Orphan Trains, but this is the first time I read a personal story about one of the passengers. I recommend this book to every family, especially to children who may not know how good they really have it. It touched my heart.

The X-Files: Regeneration
This is a book of The X-Files episode "Leonard Betts". It is one of the scariest episodes, and the end of it leads to the revelation of Scully's cancer, which is obviously a very important event in the history of The X-Files, as any fan of the show will know. It is also hardback, which I greatly appreciated, and is well worth the money.

The Revenge of the Wizard's Ghost (Dial Books for Young Readers)

It was a fun-filled and entertaining book. It had character.
I think this book is great for all ages even though the reading level is not very difficult. An adult could have fun with it because it is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your chair. I would reccomend this book as a good book for a class. They could share their insights and tell each other if they thought that they figured out the mystery. This book is great for a discussion. This is an imaginative and literate mystery that I have fully enjoyed. It really makes you think and explore your mind.

Schooling for Young Riders: A Handbook for the Horsemen of Tomorrow
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Oklahoma Pr (Trd) (1985)
Author: John Richard Young
Amazon base price: $29.95

memorable and enriching narrative
The book, Schooling For Young Riders, was a bok that I read 15 years ago as I was beginning my adventure as a horse educator. Richard Young 's memorable narrative about a spoiled pony that he purchased to train with his daughter, covers many of the same problems that I have encountered in the years since I read the book. He shares a common sense way of thinking like a horse to solve those problems and bring a young rider and horse both to their potential. This perspective has blended into my own methods that have come to include many natural horsemanship techniques. I would say that John Richard Young was ahead of his time, and shared that well in this book.

What a Springboard for a Writing Assignment and Empathy
I read the book to my middle school classes and then had them fill in an "I AM" writing assignment I picked up at a writing conference. There are 18 2-word sentence starters. The kids were to choose to be one of the four characters in the story and write from that point of view. The papers are some of the best I have ever gotten out any English class. Boys wrote with the most emotion that I have ever seen. The book also lends itself to the dicussion of abandonment and foster care, of which I am a foster mother myself. It was great to see these kids feel the character they chose, and express thoughts "beyond the print", a Six Traits of Writing Program phrase for an advanced skill in reading. I teach remedial kids all day long, and this book captured them. I never showed them the pictures so they could see the characters in their own minds. They understood how the tail lights of the car looked liked mean red eyes as it sped away.
Asking the kids if they could fit all of their possessions in a shopping bag gave many a real cause for pause.
It was a real story for kids to relate to. The next day, we made a Valentine gift for their moms. I had the best week of this year because I took a chance and jused this book. It is a must for caseworkers and foster parents.

Brilliant !
I have read this book back in 1977(I guess it was the very first edition); It was a great introduction to the Pop History and it was also my very first book in English. John Byrne was a multi-talented man; he was my "english teacher" in a language school in Bristol,UK but my best memories of him(lost his track since)are always linked with the tunes on his guitar !

Predator vs. Judge Dredd
Published in Paperback by Dark Horse Comics (11 November, 1998)
Authors: John Wagner and Enrique Alcatena
Amazon base price: $9.95
Average review score:

Not too bad
First off...I can't really say I'm a fan of Judge Dredd. Great concept, but I could never get into the comic. Being a Predator fan and knowing a little bit about Dredd I thought it would be an entertaining read, and it actually was.

Far in the future, when a post-apocalyptic earth is mired in lawlessness, three 'Mega-Cities' come from the darkness. The last remnants of humanity come together in these cities, and to enforce the law, the Judges are set loose on the streets. When a Predator comes to Earth for the hunt, Judges start disappearing and are found to be the victims of the Predator's grislty hunt. Dredd takes it upon himself to hunt this killer down, only he has no idea what he's up against, and it could very well be the fight of his life.

Its a surprisingly decent story...I wasn't expecting much out of it but it kept me reading. I really enjoyed it, and the art work was pretty good too. The cover is pretty hilarious...and don't worry, no giant Predator eats Judge Dredd. But as for odd things, Dark Horse is usually right there with bizarre, almost ridiculous plot turns. One of the characters in the book is a descendant of Dutch Schaefer, Arnold's character form the Predator film. Dark Horse has a penchant for just putting these bizarre twists in their stories which don't make them better, but actually take the quality of the story down. But overall, Dredd vs. Pred is pretty good and I recommend it to any Dredd or Predator fan.

Hopefully Dark Horse will improve its comics...Dark Horse has utterly ruined the Terminator comic franchise with ridiculous stories, and Predator and Alien have done nothing but take a big plummet the past few years.

Dredd fans will love this!
What would happen if the ultimate Law Enforcer would meet the Ultimate hunting creature? This book gives the answer, creating a dark, wet Maegacity at the mercy of the Predator. However, in the end, hardcore Dredd fans may be dissapointed, since it was not Dredd's combat superiority that led him to victory. But, for more detail on this, you have to read the book.
