in touch with the problems teenagers face
outstanding i own the book and have read it several times it is very well writen and show that teens do have problems expressing emtions to parents, so they have to pretend to be something else to deal with the problems they face

An outstanding story of teenaged problems
This ALA Noteable book tells the story of 16 year old Paul who tries to fit in at home and in school by studying the relationships and similarities between humans and animals. Paul sees his father as a "great Ant." He sees himself as a preditor, a generic male animal, and follows his instincts until he actually becomes various animals. A truly imaginitive way of dealing with feelings of alienation and isolation

Hiking in Kansas has never been as simple as it is now.
The Hiking Guide to Kansas is a high-quality guide to hiking trails in Kansas. There is no stone unturned. If you are going to be hiking in Kansas, you better bring this book with you! It is THE hiking guide for Kansas throughout the entire world!

This is the perfect book for when I hike Kansas trails.
I have always loved hiking in Kansas, but there has never been a really good book with the extensive detail that "Hiking Guide to Kansas" gives. The maps Young makes are very accurate, and the trail descriptions by Kate Hauber are excelent. I fully recommend this book to anyone who loves the outdoors in Kansas and wants an outstanding guide book.

Superb!
Legends of Lone Wolf are so good, that I seriously hope that the publishers would begin re-printing them again!

Another Successful Achievement by Joe Dever in Paper and Ink
Fans of the Lone Wolf series will love this incredible book. The conclusion of the Berkely-Pacer Legends series, the book masterfully puts in novel form Lone Wolf 3: The Caverns of Kalte. From the icy glaciers Lone Wolf and his three guides must face to the final confrontation between our hero and the evil Vonotar, adventure is put into prose that takes the reader's breath away. The syntax, the words, and the general tones Joe Dever sets makes this icy adventure one to get

A Great Book with Heart
Ranking my favorite running books is like choosing favorite children. You love 'em all equally, right? While the Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is a better literary achievement and Once a Runner is a more believable account of what it is like to be a runner, there is something special about Iron Duke that sets it apart. A good read for young adults and runners Iron Duke has that rare combination of great story and heart; Tunis certainly caught Lightning in a bottle with this one! But don't take my word, read for yourself.

Duke Wellington goes to Harvard with high expectations
Tis is what u call a great book. It can be really funny at times, but also very serious. Tunis' writing styles effect his book tremendously. I really enjoyed it and i can almost guarentee u will love it to.

Third Book in the Blue Ribbon Series
In "Kate's Challenge", 16-year-old Kate Wiley and one of her good friends, Dara Cooper, are leaving their home state for a month to attend Langwald's Training Camp in Vermont. While there, Kate is pushed to her limit by Tommy Langwald (aka "Fangwald", the instructor and owner of the estate), who not only gives Kate a hard time (though he is just as hard on some of his other students), but uses his crop on her horse, Night Owl, at one point in the story. This final action causes Kate to reconsider whether or not she wants to remain at Langwald's, despite her longtime dream of being an Olympic equesterian.

In addition to her problems with Langwald, Kate has to deal with Trevor Williams, one of her classmates who has a crush on her. Kate feels something for him in return, but she also has a boyfriend back in Connecticut. Will Kate remain loyal to Pete (her boyfriend), or will her newfound feelings for Trevor override that relationship?

The one part of the book I began to have my doubts about was concerning Casey O'Connell, another of Langwald's students, who begins to develop an eating disorder halfway into the book. While this story line could have turned into a poor example for young girls by showing that starvation is the only way to make you happier and more likable, the author thankfully avoided this mistake by creating a more acceptable resolve to Casey's overindulgence.

Overall, I thought "Kate's Challenge" was a great book for preteen girls. This series is also ideal for horse lovers. There's a glossary in the back of the book (which is customary in all Blue Ribbon books) with equestrian terminology, something I'd recommend more novice readers peruse beforehand if you're unfamiliar with horses; otherwise, you might find yourself flipping back and forth through the book.

Love It!!
I love this book !!! I love eventing and I had the exact same thing happen to me as my horse was going to go much higher !!! But I wish Kate would realise that Northern Spy was the horse 4 her!!

HEART renching story
This novel was amazing. It was so real and in your face about what a young man might go through when facing the trama Mac faces in the book.
Brings out issues that are so prevalent in todays world all teachers and students should read this eye opening book.
I'm becoming an English teacher and thought this book would be a great book for students to read in class.

This Book Is Great!!
Hey,
I just read Mac, about a week ago, and I loved it!! I read it in about an hour (i love to read, and im a fast reader!!) I think that it was an execellent (in not good a spelling) concept to write about, considering, sexual abuse is ofton ignored in wirting, and also, that the victim was male, b.c not all victims are women. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I think it was an execellent book, I recommend it to anyone!!!
I also must say that the book "You Don't Know Me" is just as good, i read that in an hour too!!! its my favorite book!!!!!!!!!

I Really Love this book!
I don't have children, but I found this in a children's asile in my local bookstore and I had to buy it! This is the book I have on my backyard picnic table right now and I read thru it daily and love it! It's NUMBER 1 on my list of books to read right now with summer here. The photos are wonderful; the small editorials are written so that anyone can understand them, and as an adult I don't see the "child -like" reading here, but rather a book that everyone can enjoy and learn from and all of Time Life Books are finely manufactured. For a book I'd rate them as "Excellent Quality" and suggest this along with the other's from this series would make a wonderful gift for children and adults alike. You'll learn alot about gardening, how to attract butterflies or hummingbirds to your backyard; wild flowering, A-Z, way too much to mention.

A beautiful lay-out makes this book a pleasure to read.
This book is beautifully designed and well organized. Full color photography enhances each page. It includes basic information on gardening with native plants, planning a garden, attracting birds, butterflies, and other wildlife to your yard. Photographs and desriptions of plants and trees, organized by geographic location, are accompanied by maps, field notes, tips, and drawings of animals prefered by each. Lots of references are included in the back. It may be geared more towards the layperson than the expert, but this book really opened my eyes to the possibilities of gardening. Gardening is not just picking pretty flowers anymore! Natural Gardening a joy to browse through and to read.

BEST BUY
Thanks to Edward Le Comte's great biographical introduction, and annotations, this is the best version of this classic work. Unfortunately it is hard to find, because it's 42 years old now. This old Mentor edition was a high quality printing though, so if you find one it stands a good chance of being a best buy!

The best paperback Milton
A superb edition of the greatest poem in the language. Edward Le Comte performs an invaluable job of editing, providing copious annotations which give an encyclopedic overview of Milton's Biblical, Classical, theological, and personal allusions throughout "Paradise Lost" as well as "Samson Agonistes" and "Lycidas", which are the other poems of the title. The back-cover write-up gets it right-- here is the indispensable peer of Vergil, Dante, Homer. These are poetic monuments, cathedrals of sound and sense that are bound to exhilarate anyone who gives them even passing attention: Milton's reverence, rage, and sensuality burn through each line. Never mind even Harold Bloom's protestations to the contrary-- the poetry of the English tradition revolves around a double star, and this is Shakespeare's giant twin in greatness.

Not the Dismal Science
Certainly, one of the better books in the Portable MBA series. Each chapter offer useful insights applicable to understanding the competitive environment and the factors that influence that environment. The book was easy to comprehend for the non-economist.

Good, clear intro to economics and its applications
I thought this was a very good book. It was easy to read, relevant and included applications of economics, some of which have already helped me in the stock market. It included examples and numerical data/graphs, where necessary. Note that besides basic college and HS courses (years ago), I have no background in economics; someone with a more extensive background in economics may have thought differently of this book, as this is definitely an intro. to economics. My only complaint is the book could have been longer, as I've noticed most of the other books in the "Portable MBA" series are significantly longer.
