Fresh and Intriguing!
I loved Kit Shannon! She immediately captivated me with her spunk and determination. The time period was fresh and new to me as well and the legal side of life in that era was intriguing. This was a new type of story for me and one I'll read over again and share with my friends. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

Unique and captivating
This book was very unique and intriguing. It was set in the 1900's in the city of L.A. and contained a little bit of everything; murder, courtroom drama, romance, and happy endings. I love Tracie Peterson and this book was just as good as many of her others. This is the first book by James Scott Bell that I have read, and now I want to read more. I can't wait to read the next book!

Great Christian Book!
I love Tracie Peterson but with James Scott Bell, something happens. I couldn't lay it down. Just had to finish it before anything else got done. Great insight into the Courts at the turn of the 20th century. Can't wait to read the others in the saga.

A Must Read!
Ms. Breggie is an excellent writer. This is good book just like the first book, "Sister Secrets". The story line was just awesome as well as the characters. The character Debra or Della whichever one she really is was off the hook, she was a bad mama. I know Ms. Breggie is gonna have a sequel to this one, she can't keep a sistah hanging. I want to know who Lisa father really is.

Great Sequel
Will there be a third part? I truely enjoyed the story lines in both Ms. James' books. "Beyond" explored the girls' as adults several years after college. It answered the question of the rift between Barb, Debra, Catherine and Marilyn. It also explored the backround of their male counterparts. It was amazing to me that Debran and Della were Ms. Mattie's children. Excellent writing! We still do not know who Lisa's father is and at this point it does not matter. Maybe I missed who Lisa's mother was (Debra or Della). But I do have one question for Ms. James-who was Caleb Arvell? In "Secrets" Ms. Mattie was on target. In "Beyond" it was Debra. She was a BAD woman. She made sure that all sinners paid their dues. GREAT JOB!

Beautifully written
This books was absolutely interesting. There was some very interesting characters. I finished reading it in 24 hours. I always wanted to be a soror but never did. It made me laugh, cry, get mad and try to get even. I would recommend this to any and everyone that likes a good read.

Five Stars from this ol' Misfit :)
This book is wonderful. It's a very fast read; I finished it in just a couple hours. Yet those few hours were amazing, as I was transported into the long-forgotten world of middle school, and enjoyed a few moments of laughter, some tears, and a truly warm feeling in my heart. Honestly, I don't think your time will be wasted if you pick up this amazing work.

The narrator of this story is Bobby, a 12-year old who describes himself rather bluntly: "A boy like me is fat." His story centers around some major events in the 7th-grade year for him and his three best friends: Addie, who's tall and smart; Joe, who's a little "too creative"; and Skeezie, who resembles the greasers of old. None of them are popular, and all of them have been given numerous nick-names by their fellow classmates.

When student council elections are announced, Addie is determined to start... This book just gives me hope that new generations will do better than ours, and not have to face the cruel truth of Bobby's slogan: "Sticks and stones may break our bones, but names will break our spirit."

If you have time, and don't mind strolling down memory lane a few decades ago, I think you'll enjoy it. For younger generations, slow down a bit and just see where this takes you. Hopefully, you'll feel the same way.

A Must Read Book...
A Must Read Book?

This book is great; it tells about this group of friends who don?t fit in. That?s mostly why the title is called, ?The Misfits?. They are just like a normal group of friends who want to fit in. One character in this book decides to not recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the class. It ends up that she gets in trouble and gets sent down to the counselor to have a little talk. Another character is the class clown and gets in trouble because he makes rude comments about the character whom gets in trouble because she doesn?t recite the Pledge of Alliance. The group of friends goes to a restaurant and they debate about stuff at school and other stuff like politics, etc. This group of friends are best buds and change their nicknames more often than their shoes. I must give this book five stars because it is the best book I?ve ever read in my life!!!

The Misfits
The story is about friends who are made fun of. The main charactures are Addie, Skeezie, Joe, and Jordan. They kept there spirits high even if someone made fun of them. My favorite character was Addie because she is orginized and fun to be with. Icould relate to all of them because i have been made fun of too. I have felt the same way that some of them felt.

I loved the book because they go to the candy store every week and make a skit of what they talk about instead of talking it out.

I would recommend this book to a person who gets made fun of. I would recommend this book because it has a good format and the book is worded well. James Howe is a wounderful writer and i hope to read more teen books by him.

Why is it important to follow God's will
Dr. James Dobson opens the reader's eyes in this short, but potent work. I read this book in just one afternoon; in this time my view about my future and my own personal goals and aspirations was altered significantly.

Learning how to fit God into my future is one of the most difficult problems that I, as a Christian, struggle with. Reading this book helped me to realize how important it is that God not fit into my agenda, but rather, my agenda should fit around God's.

Please understand that this book will not give you an easy pathway to God's will for your life. It will, however, give to you the reason why it is so important that your life be focused around God. As Christians, we know that God's will is best for our future. However, as humans it is in our nature to do what we want and feel is best for our own life. Dobson's goal in this book is help the reader realize that in the long run of life, it is not our own meek achievements that will matter; in fact they will soon be forgotten. He succeeds in illustrating that searching for and following God's will is the only way that any person can hope to have a life of satisfaction and significance.

A must read for all young adults
I'm a 24-year-old college graduate. I studied physics and mathematics while attending Wheaton College in Norton Massachusetts and I pride myself on my intelligence and my maturity. I can honestly say that after reading Dr. James Dobson's book "Life on the Edge" I had a completely different look at the world around me, and I immediately dropped my egotistical attitude. I have recently lost whom I believed to be my soul mate and it was this loss that prompted me to try and make some sense of my life. My mother obviously noticed how much I had been hurting by the experience and she gave me this book to read. Once I read the chapters on relationships and love, I became well aware of why our relationship went sour. I had failed to understand the exact psychology and the wonderful differences between men and women and how these differences can be understood and used to compliment your partner. Men and women are absolutely created equal but we are extremely different in many, many ways. It's actually these differences that make men and women so compatible and it was my ignorance to these natural and biological differences that made me lose the girl of my dreams. Don't let this happen to you. We must learn from others' mistakes because there isn't enough time for us to make all of them for ourselves. This book deals with the decisions of finding a college, deciding on a career, understanding the ins and outs of an intimate relationship, and Dr. James Dobson describes in great detail what it REALLY takes to make a relationship last a lifetime. This should be used as a guide for all young adults to live your life for the better in almost every possible way. Dr. James Dobson is a gift from God and he should be taken very seriously. His insight into the young adult psyche is an unmistakable sign that he has been blessed with an ability that most of us need to find within ourselves. We all can learn something from this book, and if we allow our hearts to open up to the goodness of God, we can live our lives according to his Will. I lost the woman that I loved, and then I discovered Dr. James Dobson's book "Life on the Edge." I honestly believe that if I had known then what I know now, I could've avoided this tragedy and I would be getting married to the women of my dreams. I can only hope that she reads this and recognizes herself in my sincere message. Friendship, trust, respect, admiration, and understanding are all very necessary to the growth and nourishment of a life long and loving relationship. Trust me, read this book and you will be transformed into a new [better] person. God bless Dr. James Dobson and God bless women everywhere.

Don't make the same mistake I did. Read this book now!

Thanks To My Mother
Thanks To My Mother is a heart-wrenching, sad story of a young girl, Susie Weksler, and her family in the Holocaust. Together, they faced the horrors of prejudice and hate, being forced to live in a ghetto. The family survived the ghetto, living through a series of "actions", selections of various groups of people sent to their death. Soon, togther with other survivors, they were seperated and sent to various concentration camps. Susie remained with her mother, who succeeded in smuggling in Susie, who was hidden in a knapsack. Miraculously, the two survived the terrors of Kaiserwald, mostly thanks to the wisdom and courage of Raja, the mother. Raja protected and cared for Susie, at the risk of being killed at the camps they were sent to. Together, they endured the abuse, the malnurishment, and the worst- the death march. I read on, captivated by the horrific details of the concentration camps. This was an extremely moving book, and I couldn't put it down, although it took a while to get into. It gave me a better understanding of the Holocaust. All in all, it's one of the best books I have read.

A Truly Enlightening Story
I loved this book! It is a really touching story about World War II and some experiences a girl had. This story is unbelievable. This story is about a girl named Susinka whose mother is the reason she stayed alive. Susinka is actually Schoschana Rabinovici.

Courage to Live
This book is a compelling story about a girl who lives through the Holocaust. It really is her mother who pushes Susie along throughout the book. Some other people, old and young, had helped the Jews and told them what they could do to help themselves stay alive. When a selection was made in a Christian Cemetery in Rossa, the Jewish women saw three young people running along the top of the wall. As Susie remembers, "This is what the young people had meant: the young people who had warned us and who had died on the wall for us. They had shouted, "Jews, go to the right." They meant: on the right side is life." Susie's mother, Raja, had told Susie many very important sayings about how to survive the Kaiserwald camp. When Raja was sick, Susie was only 9 years old and she had to live without her mother or anyone watching over her. She began to gradually give up, and her personal and mental appearance had gone downhill. When she visited her mother in the sick house, Raja saw her and exclaimed, "Mussulman!" This made Susie change her condition and get it back to where it was before she got sick. During this incident she remembers, "Throughout our time in the ghetto and in the camp, my mother had always said you couldn't neglect yourself, that you always had to believe that one day your troubles would pass. If you gave up, it was a waste of all the trouble you had already endured. You had to look after your appearance and must not become a Mussulman." This was probably the most important saying Susie learned throughout her stay at the camp. I encourage everyone and anyone to read this book. It gives you a new outlook on life and makes you think about your outlook on life. When the camp was liberated, all the horrors of Susie's life during the Holocaust were imprinted in her memory forever.

Another warm winner from Herriot
James Herriot has an easy-going and warm writing style that is incredibly suited to his stories. He chronicles the animals and people he helps as an active veternarian in Yorkshire, England. As such, the stories are usually more about the people and their attachment to their pets and livestock than they are about the animals themselves. Although the time period is not explicitly mentioned and he jumps around in time a great deal, this book seems to cover the period right after his preceeding book (The Lord God Made Them All), the late 50s and early 60s. Herriot's children are now 6-10 years old and play an increasing role in his practice. He also includes a touching series of stories about his and his wife's attempts to tame some farm cats. Every Living Thing was Herriot's final full-length original book, and it is an excellent end to an excellent series.

A Wonderful End to a Fantastic Series of Books!
I have read each of James Herriot's books many times (including this one) and still enjoy them every time I read them! This book is one of my favorite books of the series, and is highly recommended by me. If you have read the other books you will love this one just as much if not more! If you have not read any of the other books, this book would also be a good one to start off with. After reading it I can assure you that you will want to read all the others. NOTE: I also have all five of these books on audio tape (by Christopher Timothy) and would recommend these as well! It is great to listen to them while you do hobbies since you can actually do two things at the same time, and Christopher Timothy (who played James Herriot in the BBC series) really brings the characters to life, using different voices and accents.

Every Living Thing is written with real love and feeling.
Beautiful language and descriptions are combined in James Herriot's Every Living Thing. His clear love of the spectacular Yorkshire dales and his job make this book a rare masterpiece. Tricki Woo,Jake, Roy, Jock and Gyp are only a few of the pet dogs that James Herriot encounters on his daily rounds. Yet each dog has a seperate personality, has feelings and emotions. James Herriot has captured the wonderful image of the Yorkshire dales so well that as you are driving through the dirty, polluted city you can picture the green rising fells and smell the fresh smell of Spring.

Book assignment on a great book!
This is a really great book and the only biography I've really ever liked. It's about a guy (James Herriot) who is a country vet. This has stories about his work at a pet show, him when he's trying to court his future wife, and it has a lot about the personalities of the animals he treated. It also has a lot of his blunders, like when he got drunk (accidentally, I think) and went out to a farm. The people there were really religious, and he found out the next day the despised drinking! He didn't go out there again. All in all, it was a really good book, and I recommend it for any animal lovers or future vets out there.

The BEST book I have ever read
This book is GREAT !! I loved from the beginning to the end.
It is about a Country vet. named James Herriot. Through out this book you have humor, adventure, everything you would want to find in a book! If you are a vet. , you love animals or you just want to read something good this, this book is for you!!

Great book. One of Jim Herriot's best.
An absolutely smashing read from everybody's favourite vet. James Herriot carries on with his wonderful stories of veterinary successes and failures. The usual host of characters like Siegfried and his brother Tristan along with the infamous Dales farmers produce tales that never fail to tickle. Herriot also tells us more about his courtship with Helen and how the two of them finally professed their love for each other.

Nice reads
Before I go on, I want to say that I'm don't watch Buffy often. I've seen a few episodes but I'm not much of an avid fan. So what I say, I hope, is unbiased. I'm a person from the outside rather than inside.

The Buffy Trials book is volume one of the the novelization of the teleplays about the beautiful but wild slayer named Faith. These four tells chronicle the life of Faith from the first time she entered Sunnydale to her deal with the Mayor.

In "Faith, Trick, & Hope" we see Faith entering into the world of Sunnydale. This story is an establishment of her as a character. She's the "new slayer in town" as Oz puts it. In "Revelations" Faith gets a new Watcher and that turns out diastrous. In "Bad Girls" we see Faith influencing Buffy with her "bad" ways. But Faith's wild attitude causes somebody to die. The last story, "Consequences", Faith turns to the evil side runned by the Mayor.

From a person that doesn't watch the Buffy show (out of the four, I've only seen one), I found the whole book an enjoyable read. You don't need to watch the episodes because the author has everything you need to know in the stories. In some ways, the novelizations has the upperhand. You get actual thought perceptions of characters.

It doesn't matter if you watch Buffy or not, this book is a fun and fascinating read into the world of Faith the Slayer.

Five by five and livin' large: The Faith Trials, Volume 1
Having focused on Angel, Xander and Willow in previous collections of novelized episodes from "Buffy the Vampire Series," we now come to the first volume of "The Faith Trials," featuring a quartet of episodes from the series' third season. If Kendra, the first "other" Slayer was too devoted to duty, then certainly Faith is too much of the free spirit. This was clear from the start with her first appearance in "Faith, Hope & Trick" where it was clear there was a new Slayer in town with a totally new attitude. The other episodes novelized by James Laurence are "Revelations," with the "bad" watcher Gwendolyn Post, "Bad Girls," where Faith accidentally kills the Mayor's assistant during a girl's night out that goes horribly wrong, and "Consequences," where an unrepentant Faith joins forces with the Mayor. Obviously this leaves room for further episodes from the Faith the Rogue Slayer story arc for the next volume of "The Faith Trials." If you missed these episodes or like to read over the stories from favorite episodes not available on tape, you will want to pick up this book. Not as good as some of the original stories offered in Buffy books, but still worth owning. There are also some excellent full page color shots of Eliza Dushku as Faith. Note: The cover claims that one of the teleplays novelized in this volume "Enemies," but it really is "Revelations." Fortunately, both were written by Douglas Petrie, so he did not lose a cover credit.

Five by five
This book collects four of the best Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes that feature Faith, the rogue vampire slayer. The character is introduced in Faith, Hope and Trick. She is a sexy, sassy slayer on the run. She is a person who has always lived on the edge. She loves slaying and the power that comes with the slayer strength. In Bad Girls Faith introduces Buffy to the "See, Want, Take" principle. Their reckless behavior results in the death of a human. Faith's solution is to blame Buffy in Consequences. When the plan backfires the council steps in and drives Faith to the dark side. Faith, working for the mayor, tries to steal Angel's soul by giving him that one moment of happiness in Enemies.

James Laurence weaves a nice back-story to tie the four episodes together. I enjoyed reading the book even though I have seen the episodes. Also I think that readers who have not seen the TV series would enjoy these four tales of power and corruption.

excellent for beginners and the budding Olympic hopefuls!
This book is very comprehensive. If you are in the UK, it is one of the best books you can buy. It does not go into details about skating background/history in other countries. It is a book for skaters. It tells and shows you with excellent diagrams how to get basics right, it takes you, using 'step' diagrams, from single through to triple jumps, it also gives you 'step' diagrams for the basics of field moves and extensive details on spins and spirals.

My daughter found the book extremely helpful, particularly the double and triple jump diagrams and is now more able to understand what her coach is trying to get her to achieve.

Many thanks to Peter Morrisey and James Young for providing a wonderful off-ice coaching tool!

An excellent book for figure skating fans.
Having read this book through I was delighted to read such a well detailed and easy to read book without the usual complicated jargon. My children have read the book and enjoyed the pictures and diagrams and have said that what their Coaches have been saying to them has become much clearer.
Many thanks to Peter Morrissey and James Young for an excellent book.

This book is almost as good as having a personal coach !
This book is great ! Its diagrams shows all the important points pertaining to the different moves in figure skating. I'm an inline speedskater who admires figure skaters. But I have come to believe I'll never be able to figure skate properly because of scoliosis of the spine, a flat footed left foot and a high-arched right foot. Furthermore, the technical terms of figure skating is just confusing. I could never understand why figure skating is so much more confusing than say, the relatively easier Double-Push technique for speedskating. Thanks to Figure Skating School, all that has changed. Within two months, I've progressed from basic Three Turns to the Single Axle ! And all that was without any coaching. I simply read the book ! Isn't it amazing ? There's much more advanced moves to be learnt from this book. So get your copy now !

No Bugs : Johnny Quest vs. The Evil Step-Mother
Mr. Hogan did a fantastic job with the physics in this book. That is the one thing that kept me reading more than anything else. What I was disappointed in, is that fact that with a title of "Bug Park", there are so few insects/arthropods of any kind in the story, it is like eating a McD's cherry pie, and finding only one cherry...very disappointing indeed. The story should be re-titled.

Also, one point to nit-pick, for scientific names of any organism, when spelling the binomial name out, the genus is capitalized and the species is *always* lower case. On page396, "Limenitis lorquini"is what I am referring too, and the editors should be ashamed of themselves, because this is not the author's fault.

The story was enjoyable, the plot moves well, but the family structure was almost a direct parallel to Johnny Quest, including Bandit, I mean Batcat. I kept becoming distracted from the story as I read "Hoggi" instead of Taki etc., and like any good J.Q. story, the villain perishes in their own nefarious trap, leaving the hero's hands clean.

Finally, I enjoyed the little "Microcosm" joke at the end, I'm sure you will too.

Good juvenile hard-science sf
As I was reading this novel I thought, "This reminds me of Heinlein's juveniles." Sure enough, a few pages later Hogan uses the word, "Heinleinesque." Even though this book is ostensibly aimed at teenagers, it can be enjoyed by adults. Hogan does a wonderful job of describing reality from a bug's point of view. The hard science is good, and there is a great scene where the two boys, using nanorobots, attack a centipide the way a couple of knights would attack a dragon. And they're even saving a damsel in distress, although, since she is using a nanorobot, her body is safely someplace else. There's budding love, evil
villains, murderous nanorobots, two teenage heros, and all kinds of goodies.

Spielberg, make this into a movie!
Bug Park was a really fun read. As usual, Hogan comes from a base of hard science, which helps makes the premise believable. The only thing I found that bothered me was the contrived bit with one of the kid's tie to organised crime. Still, loved the book and it would make a great family movie. Someone needs to give a copy to Steven.
