The Toadstool Millionaires: A Social History of Patent Medicines in America Before Federal Regulation

THE classic on patent medicines
This is the seminal history of patent medicines in the United States. Especially interesting are attempts at painkilling prior to the 19th century, leading one to speculate on how patent medicine usage may have changed attitudes about pain, or possibly reflected them. This book is a great resource for today's cultural historians who want a nice empirical ground on which to base their more modern analyses.

A Story That You Will Never Forget
This story is about a girl named Chan who is 15 and has been homeless for 2 years after running away from home. She is always moving around from place to place. Staying with people she doesn't know if she can trust. Until she meets 11 year old Elizabeth, another run away girl who she cares for more than anything. This story is about their adventure as a team, through the rough streets of New York. I loved this book because it truly made me fall in love with the character. I loved how the plot was well planned and there was always something new and exciting coming into Chan's world.

A captivating story of the power of love
It's not easy being fifteen and living on the streets of New York. It's especially not easy when you have a little girl to take care of too. Chan thinks she has it made until young Elizabeth wanders into her life. Chan instantly takes Elizabeth under her wing, protecting her as if she was her own child. The two develop a bond like no other, relying on eachother for everything, but what happens when you start to grow up? What happens when you fall in love? What happens when it is time to let go? Is there bond truly strong enough to last forever? This page turner will keep you up all night long pondering love, family, and life. This is truly a book you do not want to miss.

UNHOLY INDEED!
This book is an absolute necessity if you follow UTAH/BYU football. The rivalry is vividly painted with the book. It is almost an entire history of this tense rivalry. Rosetta and Miller are particularly good at taking the UTAH or BYU view in each chapter. The book synopsis is correct on the cover of the book--each chapter makes you laugh and cry, disagree and agree, and protest and cheer (it all depends on which side you are on!). This book does not take sides, UTAH/BYU fans will love one part of the book, and hate another part of the book. READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they

This book covers the subject "the brush country very well" .
After having read "A Vaquero of the Brush Country" , I have a question. Where in Dawson County did Mr. Young deliver the 700 steers and what route did he take and to whom did they belong? The book is very good.

The common soldier
This work gives and excellent, all be it brief, look into the ideas behind the Civil War. It shows the willingness of men to remain to fight when all hope was lost and die fighting for their cause. The true sense of a man's Patriotism shows forth in this book as well his loyalty to an oath and his countries flag.

This is a short work and and can read in one sitting if so desired. It's flows well and is a good beginning for budding Civil War buff as well as those who have trampled the grasses on many a battlefield.
