Thorough and practical
This book covers quality assurance of web systems beyond merely testing. It offers practical insight for designers, developers, project managers and quality assurance team members. A big bonus is the appendix which details and compares automated test tools.

A must-have for any web systems tester
This book is excellent for any web systems tester. It covers all areas of functional and non-functional testing related to the Web.
It covers how to most efficiently model a web application using a specific use case approach, in addition it covers how to test for security, performance, usability of a web site. The book has been very useful in our testing efforts.

Excellent book on various quality topics
This book was a joy to read. It gives a great overview of quality issues within "Web systems" - meaning Web applications and architectures. The book balances a too-specific look with a too-general look and succeeds quite well in a balanced treatment that will make the whole worth the attention of any quality assurance or quality tester professional in the Information Technology industry.

In particular, the second chapter, on the RSI Approach, is a nice addition as this is something that most practitioners of quality subjects will not find elsewhere and the general subject matter is generally that which is avoided in books of this type. Another topic often avoided in these books is that of usability and accessibility concerns and yet these are covered here in good detail chapter six.

In general, I think the book offered a great amount of detail just where it was needed and gave a lot of "mini best-practices" in each chapter with the use of bulleted lists to highlight specific points. The detail of the book extends to various topics, like performance, compatibility, usability, and security - all topics that are of high concern in the current world of making qualitly Web systems that customers and user respond to. The appendices in the book are also excellent. The "Test Tool Evaluations" section will be a welcome addition to those who wish there are more concise evaluation forms for automated tool solutions.

I highly recommend this book to quality assurance/testing professionals, quality assurance managers, and even those who work more in the project management and development spheres. Those latter will get benefit from the book because the book manages to highlight topics of concern to both groups and also gives them insight into the quality aspects of the projects and products that are developed within an organization.

The Wizard of "IS": The Short, Ugly Story of the Impeachment of Billy Jeff Clinton and His Trailer Park Presidency
Published in Paperback by Jerry Mander Press (01 June, 1999)
Author: Professor Jerry Mander

Educational & Funny
The good Professor is one funny guy. This book will have you rolling on the floor laughing out loud. And it will do so while educating you on the debacle/scandal that was and is the Clinton Years. From the bimbo eruptions to the servicing intern, it covers it all. If you want to indulge in the lighter side of "historical analysis," this is the book for you. Enjoy!

Tounge-in-cheek
Professor Jerry Mander's tounge-in-cheek 'review' of President Clinton's approach to President of The United States is an entertaining and enlightening view of today's politics. Very right-winged, the book is chock full of tidbits from the controversial Starr Report as well as pertinent stories, facts, and related conjecture. Not for the faint-of-heart or liberal minded or those others in opposition to the Vast Right-Winged Conspiracy.

Humor rooted in the truth
On the one hand this book is incredibly funny. Professor Jerry Mander examines the "Billy Jeff Clinton Trailer Park Presidency." A presidency so pathetic you just have to laugh. The Professor's own formula of humor and satirical wit will have you howling with laughter.

On the other hand, the book unveils the truth about the Clinton scandal and all its supporting players. If you didn't read any of the Starr report, this book provides some of the best excerpts. And, the Professor's humor is your Dramamine to help you through it. Read about Clinton apologists like Barney Frank and learn what it is to be a "homophobaphobe."

It's been said: "all good humor is rooted in the truth." Perhaps that's what makes this book so remarkably funny.

Jeff knows how to do it!
Don't even think of writing a book proposal without reading this book. Jeff Herman gives you everything you need to know. Buy this book and Michael Larsen's "How to Write a Book Proposal" and you will not get turned down...

EXCELLENT PRIMER
This book gives excellent examples, with quick and concise advice on getting a proposal written. I sold my first nonfiction book, "In the Saddle: Exploits of the 5th Georgia Cavalry During the Civil War" in 1999 using "Write The Perfect Book Proposal." And last month I used it to prepare a proposal for my second book "Rebels, Saints & Sinners: Savannah Personalities of the Past." Yet, as useful as "How To Write A Perfect Book Proposal" is, I would also recommend reading one or two others to help flesh out more detail where Herman and Adams are somewhat vague. In this game the more knowledge you have, the better your chances of success.

Great examples and explanations. Excellent!
I bought this book on writing proposals at the suggestion of my literary agent who told me my proposal for my first book *really* needed help. I studied the examples in the book and the suggestions in the text and re-wrote my proposal, using what I had learned. Six weeks later, my agent called to tell me she had four offers on my book. The information here is excellent, clear, and easy to translate to suit your own book. It will stimulate your thinking about your proposal in new ways. I frequently recommend it to people in my classes and workshops who ask for advice about how to get published. ~~Joan Mazza, author of DREAM BACK YOUR LIFE; DREAMING YOUR REAL SELF; WHO'S CRAZY ANYWAY?; and 3 books in The Guided Journal Series with Writer's Digest Books.

9-11: Emergency Relief

A Touching Reminder Of A Day That United All Of America....
Where were YOU on the morning of September 11th, 2001? I was at work when Howard Stern reported that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center Towers. Having been born and raised in The Bronx before moving to Rochester, N.Y., my workday immediately ended as I focused my full attention on Howard's show; He became my only link to the city I loved and would always call home. Later on came the TV reports and the images that will never leave my mind, but for those first few hours, I sat listening in shock as the man who makes me laugh every workday became my only connection to family, friends, and loved ones who were suddenly living in a war-zone.

9-11: Emergency Relief is a benefit book that is filled with true stories from September 11th. They range from touching, to infuriating, to thought-provoking, and the list of creators reads like a who's who of Indy Comics: James Kochalka, Will Eisner, Tony Millionaire, Harvey Pekar, Tom Hart, Joyce Brabner, Ted Rall, and literally DOZENS of others. Besides being entertaining, and raising money for the Red Cross, the book fulfills another important purpose: It stands as a reminder of a day we must NEVER forget. God Bless America!

Amazing, dense and horrifying
Easily the best of the comics industry's myriad responses to the tragedy of September 11th, this book gets down into the nitty-gritty of human experiences and reactions to tragedy. No superheroes. No larger-than-life expostulation. Just real people - talented artists - telling amazing stories. Higlights include Gregory Benton's "Treasure," an untitled Hutch Owen story by Tom Hart that manages to toe the fine line between rage and sentiment and "Citadel Of The Night" by K. Thor Jensen and Chris Knowle. Honestly, though, the book is so full of great material that nobody should be without it.

Every community library in the country should acquire a copy
After the September 11th terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and in the skies over Pennsylvania, some 50 graphic novelists and cartoonist ranging from such legendary names as Will Eisner and Harvey Pekar, to newer talents such as Frank Cho and James Kochalka, came together in a very special project as a way of expressing their grief, patriotism, and support of the American people in the face of naked, lethal, ideologically driven aggression. The result is 9-11: Emergency Relief, a powerful graphic novel. The proceeds will go to benefit the American Red Cross. Simply put, every school and every community library in the country should acquire a copy of 9-11: Emergency Relief for the edification of their students and their patrons.

Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide CD-ROM and Internet Resource

An Outstanding Reference
Jeff Savage has done an outstanding job in putting together a convenient database for the clock collector. Thousands of clock sales can be accessed using key words to narrow the search. This reference is probably the best way to determine/estimate the value of clocks. It also provides links to dozens of useful internet sites for the clock collector. It is the best reference that I have found and worth its price many times over. I would also recommend that collectors contact Jeff Savage to learn about his even more complete database which is offered through a yearly subscription.

"Everyone Has an Antique Clock!"
I am a personal property appraiser in Birmingham, AL, with a specialty in antiques. It seems to me that in almost every appraisal I have there is at least one clock. Most old clocks are not only very beautiful, but they run forever! They are passed down from one generation to another, and everyone wants to know a little history about their clock and its value today. Jeff Savage has opened a new tool of research for individual owners or professional appraisers. This book supplies a tremendous amount of information about the history of clocks, helps in identification, names of makers, etc., PLUS the unique feature of being able to go to a special web site and see pictures of thousands of clocks and with their up-to-date values.

I have already used it several times in my appraisal work. It is very easy to use. You do not have to be a computer expert to navigate the web site.

Everyone has an antique clock. Find out about the one you have...or call an appraiser to do it for you!

Clocks for Everyone
Anyone with an interest in antique clocks will throughly enjoy this book. Perhaps the most comprehensive and useful clock reference I own. As a residential contents appraiser, specializing in antiques; I own many types of clock price guides, value guides and reference books. This will certainly be one of my favorite and most used.
It includes an exceptionally well written history of clocks, with tips to dating clocks, patent numbers, British registered design numbers. The glossary of types is illustrated with comprehensive discriptions.
The authors include many wonderful on line links to dealers, museums, shops, organizations and other resources.
Values shown are the actual auction realized prices. This is so helpful for buyers, sellers, appraisers, or anyone who loves old clocks.
Other particularly interesting areas are tips on buying and selling, determining age, types of value and what a clock appraisal should include.
4000 clocks with thousands of color photographs, American, English and Continental; this book is a must have for my library.

The Scoutig Way
I am the Proffessional Staff member for Scouting New Zealand with the responsibility for Resource Development, Youth Programme Delivery and Adult Leader Resources and Training

I have subscribed to the Scouting Way Newsletter and as a result of that I purchased a copy of the Scouting Way Book in November 2001

This book embodies the true Ethic and Values which form the basis for Scouting anywhere in the world, it supports the Promise and Law which are at the very core of our purpose

I find the examples in the Scouting Way to be fresh, thoughtful and above all else examples of very good practice expressed by work face adult Scout Masters, messages are simple to understand and show the values that young people and adults adopt as members of Scouting

If this book were available and being used by all Youth Workers both volunteers and proffessionals eg teachers the communities from which they worked in would be immeasurably improved

Acceptance of a values based programme by more young people would enhance their lives and that of their future families, this book gives them this opportunity

Scouting Worldwide will make use of this resource as it is a very valuable tool for youth development

I congratulate Sanfra and Jeff Schwartz on their publication of the Scouting Way Book and I look forward to further issues

This book is a true inspiration
When one sees the title The Scouting Way: A Daily Guide to Living With Scout Values, they might assume that it is a book about the life of a boy scout. This book is so much more. It is an inspirational guide to living a life full of the values and ideals similar to those of scouts.

The accounts from various professionals give it a well-rounded feel - a remarkable insight into every day life. Whether speaking of happiness, teamwork, honesty, or reverence, there is a viewpoint and a story that will literally lift you from your chair. Sporadic lists and activities, including lists of things to make you happy, give it a particular uniqueness.

Tom Jones, a space shuttle astronaut, demonstrates how to turn disappointment into happiness. He was successful in "dealing with adversity and overcoming it mentally." What a great concept, right?

Letitia Baldridge tells of her childhood struggle when moving to a new town and dealing with the sadness associated with feeling left out. Even the story of her 7th birthday party could force any adult to see the importance of friendliness.

This book is a true inspiration. It's an emotional and intellectual effort to demonstrate the ways in which the values of scouting can be applied to the life of every reader. Although the style is simple, you will be overwhelmed (in a good way) with sentiment. It is a must-read and it will be sure to get your priorities and perspectives in order.

Thirty different positive values are examined in depth
The Scouting Way: A Daily Guide To Living With Scout Values is an inspirational guide to living one's life by the principles, virtues, and values of Scouting. From Cheerfulness and Patriotism to Honesty, Continual Learning and Reverence of God, thirty different positive values are examined in depth with informative and compelling essays, thoughts, examples, and encouragements to live one's life in better terms than ever. Evocative of fond memories from one's scouting days, The Scouting Way is an upbeat, first-class highly recommended guide to physical and spiritual self-improvement.

Enjoyable for the inexperienced and experienced
This is a pleasant read. Brought a smile when I didn't expect it. Though it didn't tell me "how to" create a beautiful garden it expressed the way I work in the earth. When I leave my tools laying about tucked in the flowers this book showed me others think the same and do the same. Practical info: the chapters are short and you can skip around chapter wise. The book is nicely presented with good quality paper. This would also make a wonerful gift.

Magical!
There is a sense of amazement at Taylor's reminiscences. A simple story of a wheelbarrow turns into laughter and fond memories of your own gardening experiences. Truly a feel good book for everyone who's ever kicked at dirt with their toe to those that have green thumbs.

The Best of the Best
I've been an organic gardener for 35 years and Jeff Taylor's "Tools of the Earth" is hands down the best book on what gardening is really about that I have ever read! His wit, style and humor leave me wanting to find this guy and just follow him around for a couple of months to see how much I can learn. He is amazing and I love his writing!

It's docious-ali-expi-listic-fragi-cali-roopus backwards!
What a great book about in my opinion the best songwriters! The Shermans had the opportunity to be with Disney during what I believe was the peak of the Disney Co. Their songs have warmed the hearts of millions of people across the world. My mother had never heard of the Shermans but whenever I sing their songs she says "I love that song, I didn't know they wrote that..." I can count on their songs being family friendly and joyful. I love Winnie the Pooh was not at all surprised when I discovered who wrote the songs! I never get tired of reading Walt's Time. The pictures are great and layout is so different. It is fun to read the background stories that is behind each song. Such as A Spoon full of Sugar and how Robert's son gave them the inspiration. I know the price makes it difficult for some of us. I personally do not own the book, but I love to borrow it from my library. It is a must read for every Disney and Sherman fan out there!

It's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
This book is truly the gem of my library... A beautiful look at the careers of Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman! Reading this book brought back so many memories! Little did I realize that so many of my favorite Disney (and even non-Disney) musical films all had one special thing in common... the music of the Sherman Brothers.

This wonderful book is formatted like a huge scrapbook... its fun to read, and just packed with rare photos, cartoons and other memorabilia that would delight any reader.

"Nowhere is there a more happier book!"
Wow!, What a feast of fun! Here's the story of two of this century's most prolific and popular songwriters, the Sherman Brothers, finally cronicled in a superb scrapbook. Discover the Sherman Brothers' insights into the enigma that was Walt Disney, and learn of their dream job with this man.. who nurtured their talent, producing a sound that is truly instantly recognisable, the world over. These are the guys who created "the biggest word you ever heard", who left us singing of a "small, small world".. and gave lyrical life to a "fantasmagorical machine" called Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

This is a lovingly remembered book by the Dick and Bob, put together with the help of a few amazingly dedicated fans. Bruce & David and Jeff have produced another gem of a book. With them, too much is never enough.. the photographic treasures, the office cartoons all give the impression of being invited to dinner with the Shermans. I was lucky enough to hear the Shermans at the piano for a preview of this book at a Disney fan's convention last year. That was a night I'll never forget.. as the brothers sang their way through the songs of my childhood. Now the feeling of that night (and my childhood) has been captured in print, and I can't be happier! Thanks guys, it's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious !

Some good advice
Here are three things I liked the most: -The concept is interesting (bring the lessons of adventure down to everyday life). - The last chapter seemed superb and worth the price of the book. -The author seemed to have a good sense of humor and a reasonably joyful approach to describing his adventures. Here are three things I liked the least: - The author seemed a bit wordy. -Many insights came from people who appeared more entertaining than profound (although even then, I don't know if disembowelling live guinea pigs is necessary to illustrate competent and compassionate faith healing). - This area ("self-help") is an extremely crowded one, and to rate five stars, I think the book would need to be a classic. In summary, I think it is a good first work, and the author has generously left plenty of room for others who would like to try their hands at describing the benefits of adventurous transformation. Here's another thing to consider: when you read this kind of book, you may put a significant part of your world-view in the hands of your "teacher," and because time is limited, you forego an opportunity to learn from someone else.

SEEKING ADVENTURE?
I SAW THIS BOOK WHILE I WAS ON CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SPREE AND I BOUGHT IT AS A GIFT. I STARTED READING IT AND I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN.I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH THAT I HAD TO RETURN TO THE BOOKSTORE AND BUY TWO MORE COPIES. THIS BOOK STIRS THE ADVENTUROUS PART OF THE SOUL. GREAT READ!!

Adventures in Everyday Life
Salz tone of high adventure combined with self-deprecation (he actually advocates falling off your horse as an excellent way to establish rapport with the natives) definitely makes for an entertaining read.

While his of the Andes and Patagonia (from which one can learn an astounding number of ways to use one's hands when they are frozen solid) are gripping, Salz should be more readily compared to Richard Bach than Sebastian Junger.

Salz manages to give concrete ways of getting the spirit of adventure into your life without having to get your passport stamped... or even leaving your own backyard!

I'd recommend this book highly to anyone who feels like the grind of everyday life is getting them down. I look forward to his next book!
