A profound and proactive sales success book!
Although Maxwell Maltz is listed as the first author (he passed away in 1975), I know that Dan Kennedy has played a huge role in writing this book and making it happen. Dan Kennedy is currently President of the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation and has been one of my success mentors for years. His wisdom is easy to follow - but more than that it is right on! I started out as an engineer and a very timid salesman. Dan Kennedy is has helped to change that. Because of him I know myself better, which has helped me to better serve others in my business. I guarantee that if you read this book you will be a changed person - it's that incredible.

Kennedy covers all of the proactive bases: smart thinking, system thinking, futuristic thinking, and positive thinking. If you are truly seeking the kind of success and abundance that makes your life 100% livable - you must read this book. Many of his ideas are found in SUCCESS BOUND, another book built on learning how to live a proactively life that is God centered and fulfilling.

Everything that I have put into practice that Dan Kennedy has recommended in his books has worked. He has brought me success by focusing on what is important in selling and using my God given talents and my thinking ability to be a better salesman. Nearly every bit of our success starts in our minds including sales success. This book makes it very clear as to how to think in the right way so that your success is assured.

You will find that this exciting book becomes a part of you. Don't hold back - let it happen. In fact, I plan on spending 10 to 15 minutes every morning for the next several days focusing my thoughts on the truths of this book, thereby allowing them to seep deep into my subconscious mind. If you do this too I guarantee God's wisdom will most assuredly bring you the success and abundance you deserve.

Enjoy this book and your new proactive and successful life!

This is Powerfull Stuff!
What do you get when you put Dan S. Kennedy--the all-time, number one, best salesman and marketer in the world, and Maxwell Maltz--the world's leading innovator of self-image building, and blend them together--well, you guessed it...one powerfull piece of work. Invaluable to anyone needing to learn the inner game of selling, and by this I mean, one must master their inner self (Maltz) before they can master thier salesmanship and certainly bestow their conquering effects of marketing (Kennedy) on the world. Worth the read, very easy, flowing and has readily available and practical exercises for training your mind...to SELL! Top 10 sales book, on my list. Steve Adele

Perfect for ideas
This little book is well worth every penny. The pictures are gorgeous, and the breadth of ideas is incredible. Even if you just need occasional "help" in deciding what to wear or how to spice up an outfit, Chic Simple Accessories will help.

Outstanding! One of the best accessory books available.
At first glance, this may seem like merely a pretty picture book, but if you take the time to look closer, you will find advice for building a classic, comfortable, versatile wardrobe through the wise use of accessories.

My favorite part of this book is when the authors take one outfit (say, white blouse and black pants) and show it with different accessories. This tactic really illustrates what a difference accessories can make. It also makes me look at my own wardrobe and think how I can achieve different "looks" with accessories rather than buying different clothes.

The other gem of this book is the accessory checklist at the back of the book, divided into categories: basic gear, ornamentation, work, evening, summer, and winter. These two pages are worth the price of the book alone.

Accessories for the Librarian
I had been wanting for some time to break out of the dowdy Librarian mode. I decided to start my transformation with a book on the basics on accessories and Accessories (Chic Simple) fit the bill perfectly. It has wonderful pictures which enhance the copy making it more understandable and interesting. It also has information about where to purchase every item in the book and how to maintain the items after purchase. It tries to stay with the classics and tells you how to handle the trends. After reading this book, I feel ready to make accessory purchases that will make me look and feel confident

This is a very powerful book
This book shows How suffering can bring you closer to God. It is the story of ten people who experience tragedies in their lives, and how they made through with the help of Gods grace. Some of the people knew God before their experiences and they turned to God for strength, others didn't but came to know God through their suffering. This is a powerful book that will touch your heart.

An Awesome Book
This book is riveting and pierces right to one's heart. In this collection of 10 true stories, written by the very people who suffered severe heartache of one kind or another, everyone should be able to find a situation they can relate to. And they can be greatly helped in finding God in all things, including pain and suffering. It's a long, difficult road from the time a heartache or trauma occurs until our spirits heal. This book would be a great help in sustaining and "walking with" anyone who is making such a journey. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Very powerful stories that inspire hope
In the wake of September 11, 2001 and the recent sniper shootings, this book offers an answer to the question of why God allows suffering.

The 10 real life stories contained in the book do not make for easy reading. I guarantee that they will have you in tears.

They include:

- The story of Janet Moylan who lost her husband and 10-year-old daughter to a freak drowning accident.

- Debbie Harding, a former cheerleader for the New England Patriots that survived breast cancer and her marriage to a drug addict.

- Peggy Stoks, who was molested by her grandfather.

- Mike and Kathie Clarey, parents whose 11-year-old daughter was murdered while on her newspaper route.

- Grace MacKinnon, who faced and overcame her congenital disability.

- Thomas Howard, a teacher and author that suffered from disabling migraines.

- Dr. Kim Hardey, who suffered the death of his 9-year-old son.

- Debbie, a mother that has suffered eight miscarriages.

- Joan Ulicny, whose life was dramatically altered by an accident with a semi-truck.

- Carl Cleveland, a New Orleans lawyer that faced 10 years in prison for unfounded legal charges.

Even more compelling than the stories, however, are how each individual responds to the cross that they were given. Their responses of healing and hope show how good can come of evil.

"Christ had to suffer and die," says co-editor Jeff Cavins. "Salvation isn't just about Jesus' dying: otherwise he could have been sacrificed as a baby. Suffering - even Christ's own suffering - was part of the Father's plan, and we are called to cooperate with that plan."

Most readers of the book will realize how good their lives currently are. Not only does the book offer insight into suffering, but it prepares readers for potential future suffering, and helps them to know how to respond to others that are suffering.

I wholeheartedly recommend this first book in the Amazing Grace series - a kind of Catholic "Chicken Soup for the Soul". It's unlike anything I've ever seen or read before.

Atkinson Exit

Author: Jeff Hartman
Amazon base price: $15.95
Used price: $8.95
Average review score:

In the Summer Time When the Weather is the Fine. . . .
I've never been to the Oregon coast, but it has definitely moved into the Top 10 of my travel wish list. Based on Hartman's well phrased descriptions, I have an idea of how beautiful it must be. He also reminded me of what small town life is like, especially during the summer. Softball games, parties, new love - more than a few readers probably have flashbacks to the times they've had like these. I know that I did. And I loved reliving those moments as well as following the interesting, often quirky characters of Atkinson Exit as they lived through a rockin' summer. What's more, I now know what a dory fishermen is! Definitely worth a read

"Cannery Row" on the Oregon Coast
This is one of the most pleasant short novels I have read in years, evoking images similar to Steinbeck's classics, "Cannery Row" and "Sweet Thursday." This novel gives the reader a view into the heart and mind of typical people struggling with the joys and sorrows of everyday life, especially the turmoils of love among friends and partners. Hartman writes with a great insight into the human mind, and his words bring out feelings that alternately draw tears and laughter from the reader.

A Dory Story
An unusual first novel about commercial dory fishing with an underlying current of romance. After a few pages, you're hooked!

Baseball Card Team Checklist/No 7
Published in Paperback by Edgewater Book Co (1995)
Author: Jeff Fritsch
Amazon base price: $13.95

Find all the cards for your favorite team year by year
Obliviously "Baseball Card Team Checklist" is going to be useful to those of us who are trying to collect the cards for our favorite team. I now have less than 10 cards to go to have all of the Topps New York Yankees and am now starting to work on Bowman cards. This book covers everything out there from the old Tobacco cards to Goudey and Play Ball, Fleer and Donruss, Sportsflics and Upper Deck, and on and on. It will definitely help you know what to look for and even tells you when the front of the card has a player with Team A and the back has the player with Team B. Then you can decide if you have to have it for your collection or not.

However, I also use this book to help me with my complete sets. What I do with each year of Topps cards is to arrange them in the binder to reflect what happened that year. This means I start with the World Series cards, and then have the cards for the World Champions followed by the rest of the teams in that league/division in the order they finished. I do the same thing for the other league, putting All-Star Cards in-between and the Rookie/Update cards at the end. Of course, with all the sub-sets within a set that they have today there are other options. This book is helpful with this, but, of course, it does not list all the non-team cards that are with a set. Those you have to track down through a more traditional checklist if you are trying to put together a complete set.

Over the years I have found a few omissions in this book, so it is not perfect. But while I did spend one night trying to figure out what one card from the 1968 Topps set I was missing (Ray Oyler) it did let me know that #259 Sparky Lyle and #676 Danny Cater both appear as Red Sox and neither is a Yankee in the 1972 Topps set because they were traded for each other. On balance, I have found this a useful book and take it to every sports card show I attend.

Excellent Book
I have been looking for a book like this for years, and finally found it. It gives you the card numbers for each years team sets. I hope they will publish one that will update the years for us. This one only goes up to 1996. This book is worth every penny and more. If you have alot of common cards....this is to book to get to make them into team sets!

The Best source for building team sets!
Breaks down every manufacturer, year by year, and lists each card number (and its player)under the team name. Even includes traded and updates!

Get Your Tiki Party Going!
Just when my "grog log" was beginning to fall apart in curacao-stained tatters, the Beachbum comes out with the new edition. Intoxica is even BETTER than the first. Timeless recipes and unending fun await. For anyone who wishes to delve into the world of exotic drinks, this is the BEST book that I've come across. In no time at all you will be mixing the most amazing and tasty concoctions in your own kitchen. You will never order a tropical drink at a bar again. Get This Book!

Intoxica is the perfect name!
More great tiki drink recipes from Beachbum Berry and a great follow up to his previous book. A must buy if you want to wow your friends and your next party.

Intoxica! & companion book Grog Log
These two volumes will make you never want to order a high priced, poorly mixed, tropical drink from the bar again!! I highly recommend these books to anyone who wants to have a cocktail from an era when making a drink was an art form. Why I say, "Buy both of these books!!" -

1. Vintage tropical drinks from the 1930's to 1970's featuring Don the Beachcomber.
2. Has easy to follow receipes, a strenghth scale so you dont get too tipsy, & a handy conversion table that makes measuring so simple.
3.W/ just a few ingredients, you can make a variety of drinks, so you don't need to spend your whole paycheck getting started.
4.Calls for fresh fruit juice...squeezing your own lemons & limes is fun & good excerise :) Seriously...fresh juice makes the difference!!
5.I had Mai Tais while I was in the Hawaiian islands. Actually, I had one at every bar & hotel I stopped at ;) hee hee, but NONE compared to the two vintage receipes found in these logs.

Kudos to the cool cats involved w/ creating this great collection!!
I am eagerly awaiting Volume #3
Mahalo nui loa, a hui hou!

The Big Picture Book of Family Values

This book made my life so much more sane!
As a mother of 6 children, I am always looking for better ways to do things.

My kids have always been pretty good kids. They are naturally helpful and happy, but this book has helped me to reinforce positive behaviors in my children even more.

It comes with a gameboard that sticks to the fridge, and little magnetic pieces. We had to get some extra pieces, since we had 5 kids playing the game and only 2 pieces that came with it. We just got some little magnets from Radio Shack, which work great.

Here's how it works: each left-hand page shows a negative behavior (such as a kid throwing his dirty clothes on the floor) and on the opposite side is the positive behavior (the kid putting the clothes in the hamper). No words -- just the pictures.

This may seem boring, but my kids have spent HOURS perusing this book, ON THEIR OWN, and discussing the actions with one another.

We use the game by moving each child's piece forward one square everytime they do something helpful and positive. We don't "punish" for negative behaviors, just reward the positive ones. When they get to the end of the game they get a prize -- I keep a box of books, candy, little toys, etc., that they can choose from.

This is a WONDERFUL system and a WONDERFUL book. Anyone with a houseful of children could use this one! (I imagine it works just as well with one or two kids, too.)

Fabulous book for teaching children of all ages!
This is a well-drawn book illustrating both the right and the wrong way do do countless things. It presents the concepts in a clear, humorous and easily understood manner that should hold the interest of even very young children (in this case, 4 years old). As a teaching tool, it is fantastic!

Exciting and fun! An entirely new concept in "reading"!
A terrific family book! An easy way for parents and grandparents to show kids the differences between right and wrong. I've never seen a book done entirely in concepts before. There are no words. It has cartoons that show kids being bad on one page, and shows the appropriate good action on the next. The cartoons are very well done and easy to understand. This was a great book to share with my grandson! We laughed over the antics of the cartoon characters. He decided he wants to play with the game board shown in the book to win rewards for being good! What more could a grannie ask! This book is terrific! If you're a parent or a grandparent, DON'T MISS IT!

Building a Recording Studio

Extremely clear and helpful book!
As someone unfamiliar with construction techniques, this book was a god send to me. The writing is clear and straightforward, and it contains a series of easy to understand illustrations showing construction details. From my simplistic laymen's perspective, I can say that after reading this book, I was able to have intelligent and informed conversations with architects and contractors regarding my studio. I'm sure readers who know how to swing a hammer will feel prepared to do a lot more than just talk.

building a recording studio
This book was excellant. I have read many studio books- this one takes a few extra steps to setup a more professional envirionment then just converting a garage. I am in my 4th phase-building a house with an addition for the studio; and used this book for development of the floor plan

Practical Studio Design Tips
Cooper's book is an excelent source of practical tips on studio design. He covers all aspects of soundproofing (isolating the studio from sound transmission) as well as improving the acoustics of interior of the studio and control room.

Particularly useful are the illustrations showing different ways to construct the walls and flooring. I use these as examples in courses that I teach in Acoustics.

The book is highly readable, without a lot of unnecessary formulas and theory that one commonly finds in bools on this topic. I highly recommend this book to someone interested in building a home, project, or even a commercial recording studio. The small investment made in purchasing this book is worthwhile compared to the expense of having to correct acoustical problems down the road.

GREAT PRONGS BOOK!
If you were like me and were looking for a good Pronger book, your search ends! This had a lot of great information on Pronger. Let's Go Blues!

If Pronger's your fav, get this book!
This book was really good - it showed his whole life. The pictures were great and the tips accurate. It really shows the life of a player and how hard you have to try to make it big. It was a great thing for me---you should check it out.

A must have for any fan of this star defenseman!!!
The worst thing about this book is it doesn't have enough pages...I found myself wanting to read more. There are a lot of tips for young players and some bio information which is interesting. The pictures are great, espescially the younger ones. Thanks to Chris for sharing them with all of us.
