Palm Organizers Visual QuickStart Guide
This is an excellent book that will transform the reader from novice to near-power user. The author details the product offerings, basic features, more advanced features, and third party offerings that increase the value of the Palm. With this book as a primer, I knew exactly what I was doing when I first picked up a Palm.

I scanned the Palm For Dummies book before settling on this book. In my opinion, the Dummies book was comparatively confusing and overly brief.

Great training resource for Palm OS devices
I work in the training field for Palm OS devices - training call center agents for technical and customer support. This book is the best hands-on tool you can buy for Palm OS devices to give to students. It has a great format: 50% visual and 50% text. It differentiates the Palm OS variants from 3.1 to 3.5 very clearly and it presents lots of numbered step-by-step instructions which can be used to describe procedures to clients on the phone. The O'Reilly series books are really good too but do not cover all the newer devices and OS variants. The Osborne published, How to do everything with your Palm, covers more recent devices such as the Visor but lacks the usability and accessibility of this book. My company has bought lots of copies and its pretty cheap on Amazon compared to all the other books. Only downside is the lack of a cover CD with lots of shareware but for this price...

Palm Organizers
I picked up this book to help me decide which Palm to buy for a Mother's Day gift. The first chapter provided great info on each system's features and benefits. The rest of the book proved to be a valuable resource for add-on programs that greatly enhanced the usefulness of my Palm, and it clearly went over the basics of the built in applications. Well done and concise!

Wildly hilarious - you won't put it down
Very funny collection of stories. Ms Morizio's witty tales will keep you entertained throughout.

Absolutely hilarious
Great book, full of hilarious stories -- all true!

What really goes on a mile high in the air
This book is a thoroughly enjoyable collection of stories about some of the things that are seen by flight attendants over years of air travel. Some of the stories are funny enough to make one laugh out loud, and some can truly touch the heart. I will never fly again without smiling at some of the situations and stories in this book. Mrs. Morizio has really captured a point of view that I had never considered before. Everyone who travels by air should read this book! I will be a better traveler for having read this work.

Great new fiction!
This anthology, actually the first issue of what one hopes will be a highly successful literary magazine, is chock full of treasures. One could do a lot worse to discover the voices of tomorrow than look herein. Let's hope this issue garners its contributors some recognition, some prizes and careers to make readers heads swim for decades to come.

Fabulous!!
I absolutely love this book. It is a fine collection of stories by current, up and coming, new and established, honest and intellegent writers who write because they have always written. And while I've read it cover to cover, I still flip through for inspiration and laughs. Keep it by the bed, keep it under your pillow, but keep it near by if you can't read it until later, like after dinner, or whatever, just keep it around, because this little gem deserves a read.

beautifully produced, brilliantly eclectic selections
This is a fine collection of new writings. Jeff Boison and Whitney Pastorek have outdone themselves. The selections by Bob Beier, Thisbe Nissen and the novelist Tom Bradley particularly stand out. Tom Bradley takes us deep into the Chinese jungle, to the lair of a witch who listens to Lennie Tristano on a transistor radio. PINDELDYBOZ is a must-read!

I've loved this book for years
I'm a morning DJ in Atlanta that went through a divorce 5 years ago. At the time of my divorce a complimentary copy of "Putting Kids First" cmae across my desk. I thought, just another in a continuing series of self help books. I was wrong. The main problem I was experiencing was getting my son (9 at the time) to open up and talk with me about what he was feeling. Michael's book, specifically chapter 7, what the kids are thinking, allowed me to approach my son with a project. "Son, can we go through this part together?" For the next 3 hours, we sat on my bed, where we laughed, cried, got mad, and vented about how unfair it all was. It was the most healing thing he and I could have done. I've since become good friends with Michael Oddenino, and his new family. In many ways this book saved my relationship with my son, and strengthened my relationship with his mother. I've personally thanked Michael many times, and I humbly thank him again in this forum. MOBY KICKS 101.5 Radio Atlanta, Ga.

MUST reading if you're dealing with divorce.
I found this to be a well-written book filled with excellent, common-sense advice for divorcing parents. Helps you to find more positive solutions to create a 'child-centered' result during the divorce process. Another book you need to check out: Perfect Parenting The Dictionary of 1000 Parent Tips by Elizabeth Pantley (To keep you sane during the process!)

Should be mandatory for divorce attorneys, judges & parents
A very insightful book by a divorce attorney who has seen the detrimental affects divorce can have on children. I read this book when I was going through a divorce. It inspired me to take the higher road, which has gone a long way in restoring civility between my ex. & I. This has no doubt had an enormous affect on our children and their adjustment to the divorce.

SCE Omnibus Book 3: Some Assembly Required
Published in Digital by Pocket Books ()
Authors: Greg Brodeur, Jeff Mariotte, and Keith R. A. DeCandido
Amazon base price: $5.99
Average review score:

I Continue To Gush.
I believe I've said this already, but I think this S.C.E. idea was about the best ever (you GO, DeCandido!), and this next batch was no exception to that idea. Waiting for the paperbacks puts me woefully behind the eBooks, this I know, but my patience has been consistently rewarded with each new publication.

In Book Three, we get eBook stories 9-12, and each one is a separate little thrill ride into the S.C.E. universe. And I guess what I'm most impressed with is the continuity of character development and growth throughout each author's writing. That can't be an easy task, especially when the authors are also charged with writing a compelling plot.

If you're like me and don't really care for the eBook format, but are interested in learning about the Starfleet team that goes in to clean up the messes, I *highly* recommend these books. Fast-paced but complex, with great character development and depth.

Good job, I say! Don't stop!

ST-SCE Book #3: Some Assembly Required
Star Trek-Starfleet Corps of Engineers Book #3: Some Assembly Required is an anthology of four stort stories involving the the corps of engineers first appearing as ebooks and now is in printed form.

"Some Assembly Required" contains:

"The Riddled Post" written by Aaron Rosenberg
"Here, There be Monsters" written by Keith R.A. Decandido
"Ambush" written by Dave Galanter and Greg Brodeur
"Some Assembly Required" written by Scott Ciencin and Dave Jolley

In this book the stories contain high-tech action-adventure and it will keep your attention. The stories are written as short stories and they are written as building on one another. As the stories building to an exciting climax and they have some very clever solutions.

I liked the way the stories are written and the way plot is laid out and the action moves quickly... but the character development is not lacking and it gives the reader a sense of being within the confines of the story... like your in the middle of all of the action.

As each story is written as a complete stand alone story, there are references in each to past adventures making for intresting reading. You'll be engrossed in the story and wanting the characters to succed in each adventure.

This anthology covers story #9 through #12 of the ebook series and the corps of engineers work at solving problems. This is a fresh addition to the Star Trek series and you'll be fascinated as a group of giant monsters fall through an interdimensional gateway, the engineers work on a planetary computer system, solve a mystery of an outpost riddled by a strange new weapon, and defeat a foe who has the corps outgunned in an exciting space battle.

Have tech, will travel is the corps motto and Starfleet's miracle worker will take you on a journey you will not soon forget.

Fabulous continutaiton of the series!
I originally read all the S. C. E. novellas in eBook form. But I pick up the paperback print compilations as an excuse to re-read them! S. C. E. is probably the best Star Trek series and these 4 stories are excellent, building up the crew and giving them character. At about this point in the series, you really start to care about the characters. I heartily reccomend this book and the entire S. C. E. series to anyone who's look for a well-written series that is a new twist on Star Trek.

Scotland for Beginners (For Beginners)
Published in Paperback by Writers & Readers (1999)
Author: Jeff Fallow

Used price: $28.91

Not your average comic book ...
Getting past the "comic book" label is the hardest part for a generally seriously-minded adult. I think this is a good starter book for those of us who somehow missed getting much of any background in Scottish history, a useful run-through of critical events ... and written with a consistent point of view.

You may know of the author Jeff Fellow, a political cartoonist and at least a small-n nationalist. The book's back cover blurb starts with, "Locked into unholy wedlock with England by the Union of Parliaments in 1707 Scotland's status has been that of a proud country subservient to a larger state" and ends with,"This radical history will help you to understand more about Scotland, from the old clan feuds and border raids to the modern concerns of social justice, democracy and independence." True.

The only omission I regret is that Fallow said nothing about the Hudson's Bay Company sailing out of Stromness on Mainland in the Orkney Islands, that was very important in our Canadian history and the blood of Scots who sailed out of Stromness runs in many Canadians today.

Scotland for Beginners is a reasonably priced paperback, still in print though it could use some updating because it went to press around the time of the 1999 (re-)opening of the Scottish Parliament.

As always useful in a history book, Scotland for Beginners has an index, a chronology, and a list of suggested further reading, as well as a geneology of the kings and queens. And there's a bonus, a list of famous Scots... though it somehow omitted Sir Matthew Baillie Begbie, BC's famous frontier judge and first Chief Justice.

I'm keeping this book, and I'm glad to give it five stars.

An excellent summary
Jeff Fallow does good work here. He takes the complex world of Scottish history with all of it's twists, turns, and outrages and makes enjoyable reading for the newly interested.

I read this book over a year ago, and still refer to it from time to time.

If you are interested in Scottish history, and don't know where to begin your studying, try this. At the very least, you will have an instant reference guide and a good place to start.

This is a great book about Scotland
Scotland is one of the most beautifull countries in the world and this book shows that

Wonderful Personality Analysis Tool
I took the True Colors Workshop a few years ago and found it very enlightening. This book was a fantastic refresher! It really helps you to understand your own personality and how you relate to others. Especially useful are the sections on the colors under stress. It isn't really a substitute for the workshops because there is no facilitator to answer your questions and to help you with understanding all the colors of your personality but it does go into depth about the foundations of the True Colors theory. I thought it was great! I have ordered another to give as a gift to introduce a co-worker to True Colors. I think it can help her with all her interactions.

THE book to understand temperament styles
It is a great pleasure to recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand and appreciate themselves and others better. It is a great tool to "turn irritation into appreciation"

"Showing Our True Colors" is an exceptional book with explanations and examples of the four temperament styles. It is broken down into understanding your own color (temperament) and then explains how each of the four colors communicate. You are given concrete examples of how to understand and communicate with each of the four temperaments. You are also given examples of the characteristics of a temperament in stress (Characteristics of a faded blue, etc) and how to help "brighten" them. The cartoon characters are funny and to the point. They are great examples of the situation being discussed. It has been my experience that when I show someone this book they want to know how to get their own copy (there is no way they can get mine from me!!) Congratulations to Mary Miscisin for putting together this wonderful communication tool.

Showing Your True Colors
Fantastic!! Best personality coding book I have ever read!! Easy to understand and reads very quickly! She explains the different personalities using the color coding system of Blue, Green, Gold, Orange, with each color representing a different dominent personality. Easy to understand and to incorporate into everyday life. The example stories she gives in the book are fun to read and put it in the most simple form for relating to each personality. I found myself viewing people differently, in a more positive way, and figuring out just which color they would fall under. I work in a customer service business, and found the information in the book, helped me understand my co-workers as well as my customers much better!! Wonderful and motivational. Great reading for everyone especially if you are in contact with the general public or work in a large office. Highly recommend for everyone!!

A Wonderfully Silly Story
This is a wonderfully silly story -- silly enough to be entertaining to children -- but also insightful enough to remind adults of just how silly we often are.

Children's books by Idries Shah build mental agility
[....] It's clear that we need to provide our kids - especially boys - with tools to counter the violence and knee-jerk aggression ubiquitous in popular culture. These children's stories by Idries Shah are just this kind of tool. They're not preachy. They don't offer simplistic lessons or moral platitudes. They're more like exercises for "mental muscle groups" grossly underdeveloped in this culture: A strong sense of one's own value. Empathy. Flexibility in thinking and responding. Appreciating that not everyone is the same, not every outcome is predictable. Seeing that there are more than two sides to a situation. A sense that patience and perseverance can pay off, sometimes in unexpected ways. Not demanding easy answers. A sense that things are not always as they seem, that the viewpoint of "experts" - or even the whole community - is not always right. The experience of seeing something that even adults don't see, of creating clever solutions. The sense that taking positive action is possible and rewarding-even when one has to buck the tide. That help can come from where and when we least expect it. The sense that life has interesting "loose ends" for us to reflect on. And so much more. At least one of these books should be on every child's book shelf.

Jackson's illustrations are phenomenal!
I've seen some of Jeff Jackson's fantastic animation work, and I'm thrilled to see that his illustration work is just as great! This book is a must-buy!

The book also shows safety and instructions from his parents. I enjoyed how the writer made family important as a team. My son reads this book everyday on our way to school, and we are nieghbors of the writter. My son is facinated with surfing and the character of Simon. Great ethics Jeff Lappin way to go!

Simon is Great
Simon is just like my son was at his age. Now I am reading it to my Grandson, who is just like Simon. Great book to read aloud and I like the instructional part. Good reading!

Sweet!!!
This is the most darling book! It is about a little kid who wants to be a surfer. The illustrations are wonderful and Simon is the cutest little beach boy you ever saw. It teaches responsiblity and has a nice interactive feature. I love the " Surf Dictionary at the end. You'll love it!!

Smokefire

A real page turner
I have read mysteries for 40 years from different eras and found Smokefire by T. Judson Kennedy an excellent read in today's time. It catches your interest and curiosity right from the start. It is a page turner from cover to cover and attention to detail is well done. Cannot wait to see what happens to Victor Scofield in the author's next book Crossfire.

A Phenomenon!
I am an author who is very selective in what I read by other authors. This one captivated me. The storytelling was superb with rich dialogue and a plot that grabbed me by the throat from the very first pages. Mr. Kennedy set up the story and had me hooked by page three.

I found Mr. Kennedy's novel as I was looking for something else. The jacket intrigued me and I was off and reading. His characters are solid and the story unfolds around a wholely believeable and intricate set of connecting threads.

I don't recommend many books, but this one is a winner! I have already pointed my friends and co-workers to Mr. Kennedy's site and they too have enjoyed the read. The sequel, Crossfire, is in the works and I for one am already on the "send me the sequel" list. Recommended!

RIVETING STORY
I started this book late one evening and simply could not put it down. I finally finished in the wee hours of the morning. The characters are very real and personable. This is not the typical story where you easily figure out the mystery and "who-done-it". The story line keeps you wanting more. I can not wait for the next book - Crossfire to come out. This is the first book by this author, I can easily see many more in the future. You will not be disappointed in this book!!
