Focused on the topic and practical - highly recommended
This book's primary audience consists of SAP consultants and IT business systems analysts, and the ideal secondary audience should consist of business process owners in an R/3 environment, IT managers in all functional areas who are involved with developing, implementing and supporting supply chain and extended logistics solutions.

The theme is logistics management, using SAP, in an extended supply chain or a corporate hub and their vendors. There are three key sub themes in the book: (1) an explanation of the business benefits of extending buyer-seller systems in an extended supply chain (with an emphasis on using the Internet as the communications infrastructure), (2) specifics on how to accomplish this using SAP, and (3) evidence that it can be done.

I like the practical approach taken by the authors - instead of succumbing to the temptation to careen off into blue sky solutions, they stick with what can be done in the here and now. Although it's almost blasphemy to discuss EDI when everyone else seems to be hyping web services and other approaches and solutions that are relatively new, the authors show the strengths and weaknesses of this proven approach. They also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of XML, although ebXML is curiously missing. The reason its absence is so curious is that the EC appears to be wholeheartedly embracing it, and this book has a distinct European bias, especially in the chosen case studies.

More importantly, though, this book goes into the details SAP's internet components and how they relate to other modules that support logistics and supply chain management for an enterprise. The details go well beyond technology - this book gives equal treatment to business and technical issues, and that is one of the reasons why it's so valuable to the primary and secondary audiences I cited above. Although I thought ebXML should have been covered in depth, I found this book to be complete and to realistically cover the topic's key issues.

The book ''Bulfinch's Mythology'' contains historic legends
This book is wonderful. It's just the kind of book I like ; it's mysterious , contains a lot of information and it's about myths in which people actually believed in the past.My favourite part is the Greek mythology. It's about gods , heroes and all kinds of monsters. It's also fun to make a dictionary of the names that I find so that next time when I see the same name in another book I can just look in my dictionary and remind myself the meening of the word. This is the kind of a book for people who like to read about mystery and advanture.

Irish High Crosses: With the Figure Sculptures Explained
Published in Hardcover by Syracuse University Press (1995)
Authors: Peter Harbison and Hilary Gilmore
Amazon base price: $34.95
Average review score:

Helpful companion for a different tour of Ireland.
This is a first-rate digest of Harbison's larger work, the definitive work on Irish High Crosses. My wife and I stumbled onto the book in a Kells bookstore. She was looking for examples of crosses featuring griffins -- and they are noted herein! Harbison maps the route to all the ancient crosses and gives a thumbnail sketch of iconography. Also a great gift to lovers of things Irish and arm-chair travelers. Thank you, Peter Harbison and artist Hilary Gilmore!

Land Information Management: An Introduction With Special Reference to Cadastral Problems in Third World Countries
Published in Hardcover by Oxford Univ Pr (1988)
Authors: Peter F. Dale and John D. McLaughlin
Amazon base price: $65.00
Average review score:

One of the fundamental books in the LIM/LIS field
This book provides a thorough basis in the fundamentals of land information management (LIM), especially using land information systems (LIS). [There is the question of the relationship between LIS and GIS, which was pretty hot at the time the book was written, but one should look at the important issues that this book covers, rather than this now-forgotten dispute.] Written by two of the leading figures in the field, the book covers the critical issues in LIM, and looks at the issues of setting-up LIS in less developed countries. It is well established that a single, efficient land market is the main criterion used to decide whether a country is 'developed' or not. This book provides a primer and textbook for the LIM fundamentals of moving a country from 'undeveloped' to 'developed' status.

the text is terrific, first-rate text
I would have called this book "Tooth Walker," and perhaps have anthropomorphized the "characters" a bit more, make it both scientifically solid (as it certainly is) and more fanciful, just slightly. It's certainly a valuable little book, and as are the marketing spinoffs. I deeply look forward to reading the upcoming series (Grolier) that Carol Young and Skip Crane are producing (over the next two years), on Imagining Nature, a fabulous and instructional series for young children on nature's formations, such as trees, fungi, ice--all the mysteries (and hidden faces) in the faces of nature. This series will spin the world of young scientists and the curious among us all.

Very informative book!
After searching the net and bookstores alike for accounts of what others go thru while on anti-depressant medication, this book has been a Godsend. With personal accounts of how others encounter and perceive depression, and it's alleviation through Prozac and other SSRI's, the book seems to illustrate that the various maladies of the disease are uniform. The book will remain in my library as a reference AND inspirational source. I look forward to Elfenbein's LIVING WITH LITHIUM, which is said to be next in the series.

This was the only book which really helped explain it!
As a stroke survivor, I can honestly say that this is the one to own. It explains your stroke to both you and your family in laymen's terms, yet never speaks down to you or leaves you feeling hopeless. A must for the stroke survivor and his/her family.
