A clear understanding of today's prophet in the church
There is much confusion today in the church concerning the gift of prophecy and the role of the prophet. The available information on these subjects, especially as relates to a Graduate student in Theology, is limited indeed. This book is a shining beacon in an otherwise bleak literary landscape. It is very well written and at a level that Graduate students can appreciate, yet not so high into the academic clouds that the average reader would be lost. It is not written on the level of most popular novels, but it is written in a style that the average reader can follow. It should be a treasured work in anyone's libary, especially those who are studying theology seriously and need an excellent book on the gift of prophecy and the prophetic office itself.

VERY through treatment!
This book is definitely a valuable contribution to further the understanding of the prophetic ministry in the Church. It is very through, well-researched, and well-thought out.

The author approaches the prophetic ministry from just about every conceivable angle. Especially helpful is the explanation of the similarities and differences between the Old and New Testaments with respect to prophetic ministry.

The last couple of sections covering insights from modern church history and practical guidelines and instructions are also very helpful.

If you are looking for a comprehensive treatment on the subject of prophetic gifts, this is definitely a book you will want to read.

Highly Recommended!
Even after traveling to the Holy Land late last year, reading through this book was very helpful and insighful in providing interesting facts about the wonderful land of the Bible. It covers information on a broad range of topics, both current and historical. I would consider this book to be an excellent starting point or refresher course for anyone who cares about the land that our Creator God Himself deeded to Abraham and his descendents. Enjoy!

Why doesn't the Spirit of God move today like He did then?
Peter Wagner obviously writes this book from the perspective of "power evangelism." That will turn some people on, it will turn others off. Often, it seems that he allows that framework to guide the biblical text, rather than allow the text to guide his discussion/commentary. Yet, I would suggest that you read the book, anyway. He provides the forum for a discussion that needs to take place. Why don't people get healed today, as they used to in Scripture? Why don't we pray like we used to? What is the difference between how other nations handle missions, as opposed to how we do in the U.S., and could we not learn from them...? Such are some of the issues Wagner discusses. If you read this, two things...

1. Read it alongside MacArthur's Commentary on Acts 1-12, in which MacArthur seems to dismiss the idea that healing and power evangelism takes place, except in cases of theological excesses and misappropriation of Truth (see both commentaries comments on chapter 3:1f. with the lame man at the temple, for instance).

2. You will want to pick up another of Wagner's books on Prayer and Spiritual Warfare, because, again, much of what Wagner writes here seems to be filtered by those books, first, rather than the biblical text. (Then, again, we all bring our preconceptions to the table-- and he is very honest about them-- and they are definitely issues we need to wrestle with).

The After Christmas Tree
When it's time to take down the Christmas tree, don't let the "end of holiday blues" strike your children. Read this story and then continue the Christmas spirit of giving by decorating your discarded Christmas tree for the birds (and any other creatures searching for food in the dead of the winter!) A great family book and activity. Also a great activity for Kindergarten teachers to use when students return from Christmas vacation!

A Well Balanced Introduction to Archaeometry
Within this book's content, several qualities are united which make it not only the best aviable introductory textbook into such crucial topic for archaeology and anthropology, but a truly unique contribution that transcendes the compromistic exposure of subject which could be found within more formal textbook.

First, author provided brief but quintessential introduction into the very fundaments of physical and chemical properties which are relevant in those phenomenons which enable exegesis of temporal relations in the form of absolute chronology.

Second,a highly critical disscusion is given for selected materials and their specific characteristic, with conclusions about dating methods which are most appropriate, plus refference to other part of the book which deals with dating methods per se,and this was a very wise choise in semantical organisation, since it enables easy refference to particular issue.

While one could think of style as something not important with regard to books that are dealing with hard science, this is not case here, because author truly suceeded in making his presentation inteligable to readers who are not experts in nuclear physics, but are obliged to know fundaments, methods, and logic of age determination process in quaternary geology-geologists,anthropologists,paleontologists,archaeologists.

Students of these sciencies have often difficulties in finding materials of explanatory, introductory, practical and bibliographical kind, since it is often too fragmentated to be easily obtained.Up to this day, this book is absolutely the best for that purpose.

Finnaly, one must mention that within entire content, one persistant quality is wide diapazon of perspectives on subject-ranging from theoretical and empirical foundation,to such practical aspects as proper taking of samples.Richly illustrated, with strong bibliographic back-up,this is book that is definitely the most accurate scrutinisation of quarternary age determination, and one needs to follow progress in the field from other, more proptly informative sources-corections in calibration, development and refinement of method etc.-but no more to seek for book that synthetises this area of science in a fashion that is both approachable and also professional.

"Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat."
From the professional wrestling ring to the Minnesota governor's mansion, Jesse Ventura's career has been as colorful as it is controversial. In Always Cheat: The Philosophy Of Jesse Ventura, army veteran, businessman, environmental activist, and political candidate Leslie Davis has written a political expose that alleges that Ventura fixed the 1998 Minnesota primary election; fixed the investigation that followed his election; and violated state conflict of interest laws. The documentation supporting these serious claims are derived from sword affidavits, transcripts, voice mails, taped investigative interviews, videos, memorandums, newspaper articles, letters, and personal interviews. Always Cheat is enhanced for the reader with black and white photographs and the illustrations of political cartoonist Pete Wagner. The rather remarkable title for this political expose is derived from a quotation taken from Jesse Ventura's 1998 speech to University of Minnesota students: "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat."

Phenominal Nostalgia for Baby Boomers
You remember seeing them in the 1950's as children. Your family had one -- the neighbors had one -- and you encountered them everywhere! The classic and sometimes bizarre cars of the chrome and fin-laden 1950's are re-born in this extremely well documented and photographed book. It's not just a book about cars - but captures the period and the business success [and failure] of American automakers at the time they dominated the consumer market. You won't be able to stop turning the pages -- shaking your head -- remembering those cars your young eyes once marveled at. Great price & great book.

American Combat Planes 3rd edition
This is one of the two best books I've found. Has lots of Information. The other book I recommend is U.S. Navy Aircraft 1921-1941/U.S. Marine Corps Aircraft 1941-1959 by William T. Larkins which is given credit in this book. These are the only two books I'd have if I could afford only two books.
