Evelyn Sharp
I just got done doing a report on Evelyn Sharp for school, and thought it was really cool that I didn't have to go far to look for information. This book really got me more interested in her life and how much of an influence she had on women in aviation back in her time. It's awesome that someone from a town near mine in Nebraska could be so famous and successful and have such an impact on a lot of people. This is a great book to read if you love aviation or even if you don't.

A great book about and a great gal and her home town in NE.

Learn of the sacrifices made to defend our country, including the supreme sacrifice by this young woman who loved to fly.

Simple Numerology
Simple Numerology by Damian Sharp is an excellent book for newcomers to numerology. Sharp begins with an introductory explanation of numerology, saying that it "provides us with a means of understanding our own individual cyclical patterns and personal qualities."

He is concerned only with Western numerology in this book, which is based on the teachings of Pythagoras, a Greek philosopher who maintained that numbers were the basis of everything, including relationships.

Important numbers are the name number, which reveals outer nature; birthpath, which indicates destiny; persona, which tells how others perceive you; and soul number, which is inner destiny. He also discusses the personal year number, the pinnacles, and challenge numbers.

Each number is easy to determine.

Sharp devotes the bulk of the book to explaining the significance of each number and how individuals can use that information in decision making.

A final chapter describes compatibility between numbers, as an aid to successful personal and business relationships.

Simple Numerology is a part of Conari Press' Simple Wisdom Book series. Simple Numerology is Sharp's third book in that series; he's also won awards for other writing. Novices will find Simple Numerology easy to understand and enlightening. Within minutes they will have new insight into their personalities and lives.

A fine guide that will especially appeal to beginners
Damian Sharp's Simple Numerology provides an easy introduction to the system, revealing how to use number systems to determine traits and compatibility. A fine guide that will especially appeal to beginners.

Wordiness is your enemy
As a beginning opinion columnist I learned quickly that wordiness can kill your column. How do you get the greatest effect with only 700 words? Brohaugh's book tells you how.

The principles he discusses in Write Tight apply to columnists, reporters, technical writers, or novelists. Whether you write for fun or profit, his advice will make your work more impactful. The world is full of books on better writing, so why is Brohaugh's book special? His book is actually fun to read.

His illustrations of wordiness are often hilarious even when his heavy shoe stomps your toes. Rather than just list poor choices of words, grammar, and style, he weaves them into his writing to show how silly and wasteful they really are.

If you write, you need to Write Tight.

A must read for all beginning writers
If you haven't read the MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style, you gotta read this book! No writer should be without a copy. It reads like an expansion of The Elements of Style, by Strunk and White. If you can find a copy, buy it. It will make an excellent gift for any writer.

Useful, practical reference
I have the "vest-pocket" edition of this book beside my desk, and I probably use it 2-3 times per day. It provides the fastest way I know to look up the spelling of a word without having to interrupt what I'm already doing on my computer. The introduction that explains the logic of word division is both interesting and useful.
