Great Father's Day book!
This book was just excellent. It really tells a true account of how a boy feels when he goes fishing with his dad -- the good and the bad. It's a diary and a love story in one! This one is a great gift for any father.

whimsical yet highly communicative illustrations, great text
the text plus illustations communicate the point of the story very effectively. What irritates me about much christian children's literature is irritating illustrations - too irreverent, too reverent, too condescending, or otherwise poorly illustrated. This avoids these pitfalls. My kids demand this story to be read again and again. This is my favorite children's bible story book.

A must for any library, anyone interested in Vietnam
Two Lands, One Heart: An American Boy's Journey to His Mother's Vietnam by Jeremy Schmidt and Ted Wood -- what a gorgeous book for anyone interested in Vietnam, the refugee experience, the going back to your native land or family's homeland! The photographs are wonderful and the text is factual, interesting and fun. I bought this book hoping it would be at least mildly interesting for my Vietnamese-American students--what a delight to receive the book and to realize that all my students would enjoy the story and photos. It's hard to find good stories about Vietnam. I applaud the authors/photographer for putting out such an intelligent, sensitive and enjoyable book. Adults as well as kids will love it. It would be a perfect book for teachers who have Vietnamese students, but anyone would like to learn about Vietnam from this charming book.

An outstanding story of a man who made baseballs
An outstanding analysis of a little-known businessman instrumental in the sporting goods industry. Hamilton effectively shows how Lannom built Worth into a leader among baseball and softball manufacturers. Well-researched and lively.

Sexy & satisfying!
Black Lace claims their stories are written by women only and FOR women? They've got that right and aren't we women lucky. It you want to be aroused, pick up this book. It'll definitely get your juices going and begging for release. Sex therapists should recommend these kind of books. Great for people in long standing relationships who just need a little something to get them going, too.

A full-color photographic showcase of vintage American toys
The Wonder Of American Toys 1920-1950 by dedicated toy collector and expert Charles Dee Sharp is a beautifully illustrated, full-color photographic showcase of vintage American toys. From toy cars and airplanes; to Popeye figures and Buck Rogers paraphernalia; to science sets and baseball games; each individual toy is featured with an illustration and a very brief caption. An extraordinary range of objects of childhood memories, The Wonder Of American Toys 1920-1950 is a nostalgic and enthusiastically recommendation for toy collectors and 20th Century American Popular Culture reference collections.

curly~haired girl from the alps!
My mom had an old copy of this book from when she was little. She wanted ME to read this! I was like, yea, right. So one day i was bored and i picked it up, started reading the first pages, and by two days later i was finished with it! I'm telling you, this book sucks you in! The interesting story of Clara, Peter, Fraulein Rottenmeier, grandfather, and Heidi herself is all fastened together in this extrodinary book. You will NOT put it down i'm serious!
Heidi- the reveiw
This book was very interesting. It is about an orphan girl who is sent away to live with her Grandfather in the alms. She is very happy there making lots of friends. Then she is taken away by her mean aunt to be a playmate with a rich girl; who she later makes bossum friends with. But she returns after being incrediaby homesick. The ending is very happy and uplifting, also my favorite part. Everyone should read this book because it is a VERY VERY good book.
Bre's
This is one story that everyone should read. Beautifully and sensitively told, it is the story of a young girl named Heidi who is taken away from her grandfather on the alm and sent to be a companion to a young invalid girl. It teaches lessons about faith and patience in a manner that many Christian writers should take note of. It is not just simply a children's book, it is a book for grown-ups as well. A delight to read.

Great for pictures... but be prepared to buy another guide!
This guidebook is great for its pictures and detailed diagrams of major sites, neighborhoods, and buildings. The book is absolutely filled with brilliant photos that help visitors (especially first time visitors like myself) see what the sites look like. It also has photos of practical things such as roadsigns, the euro currency in all denominations, police cars, telephones, and even food. This might seem silly, but it's very helpful to know how to use their telephones and to learn which coins are which before going over there. It has a limited list of places to stay and doesn't go into detail about how to get to all the sites they cover. This is why I think this shouldn't be the only guide you buy if you're planning a trip to Ireland. It is definately one of the ones to buy, however. Another note: if you're like myself, and plan to travel light to Ireland, keep in mind that this book is rather heavy because of the thick, glossy pages - they're great for the pictures, but they'll weigh down your bag. Hope this helps!
Handy, Informative, and Necessary
Here's the drill: You're planning the trip, know you NEED a book - you head to the Travel Section of your favorite bookstore and begin the long process of paging through every one in stock. "Gee," you say. "They all seem good." Well, maybe it's just me... For our trip, we settled on 3 books just to cover the bases & ETG's Ireland was by far the best. The color coded indexing was especially helpful - each section has illustrated map w/icons resembling the major points of interest in the area, along w/major hwy's. This is followed by the down and dirty information for all the sites. The back of the book has all the practical info you need; rail, bus, taxi service, ticket info, customs, religious, etc. The indexing at the back is also helpful.
Bottom Line: This book went with us everywhere and we saw lots of other tourist toting too. It's colorful, informative, and will be a savior when planning your day trips...go for it and enjoy Ireland!

Buy it you'll like it.
This is the one travel guide to take with you. I am going to Ireland this coming Nov.and wanted a guide on where we will be going and what we will be doing and seeing. Took a look at a number of guides and was not happy with them. Most of them are too much "talk", Found the "Eyewitness Travel Guides from Dorling Kindersley, The Multimedia CD publisher. The book is great, as is their other Travel Guides. The 3D maps and cutaway illustrations are worth the price alone. I am going to buy there other guides as well. I live in NJ just accross from NYC and learned a few thing about the Big Apple I did not know. In short Buy it you'll like it.
