I LOVED This Book !!
This is a great book I really enjoyed it. Not only is her story of her Near-Death Experience amazing, and true, but her writing style is both humorous and serious, depending on what she's talking about. Some of it might stretch your imagination, but who knows? She is very believable, and when I wasn't in total amazement, I was laughing. Near the end, she had me laughing so hard, my husband came in the room and said, "What's so funny?". Well, I couldn't tell him, because you just have to read the book. Well written, and full of amazing surprises. What can I say, I loved it, and I hope you do to.

EXCELLENT NDE!
Kimberly Clark Sharp writes like you are her friend and she is sharing her story over a cuppa' tea. Although, extraordinary in terms of your usual reading, Ms. Sharp is believable. She has experienced incredible spiritual moments which have enhanced her life and change your thinking about what's possible. Her words teach us to be open and understanding of what we can't often put into out own words, its a feeling. Reading "After the Light" helps one focus on the spiritual and makes one know without a doubt, how "connected" we all are to one another. It shares many experiences from a spiritual standpoint and you crave knowing more! A very enjoyable book I didn't want to end!

Applying the lessons of a near death experience to real life
After reading many books on near death experiences (NDEs), I have to say I learned a lot of new things from this one.

The author's energetic, upbeat personality comes through loud and clear in a very readable, entertaining style. She discovered after her NDE at age 22, not only reserves of personal strength and knowledge of a spiritual world, but that encountering a dark side of the spiritual world can be a growing experience.

In addition, she details her post NDE ability to "see angels," as well as battling her grief following death of a loved one, and her personal experience with breast cancer.

Well worth reading for anyone interested in this sort of thing.

Thrump-o-Moto
This is a beautifully illiustrated and written book for both children and adults. It is touching and inspiring. It brings home the important lesson of never giving up and helping to fight the good fight against an illiness or other evil.
Takes place in Australia and Japan and a fantasy land.
Charming and lovable characters.
Enchanting and inspiring.

Heart warming story
I bought this book for my children for Christmas in 1988. It was so beautiful in word and pictures that I bought a second book so that each of the children could have their own book. It's story of the wizard "Thrump O Moto and how he saves Patricia from the evil "Nurk-u the Bad is so delightful. I always wanted to find the address of Steven Spielberg as I felt it would have been a wonderful movie only Spielberg could have writted for the screen.

A richly illustrated, magnificent fantasy for all ages..
Clavell's Thrump-O-Moto is nothing short of a literary masterpiece. This fantasy begins with a lazy rural afternoon and leaps across continents and through time warps with a most informal and personal accessibility. The possibilities of friendship, the comparison of cultures, and the thrill of adventure all contribute to create a most fantastic story. The illustrations supplement the flowing text like frosting on an already luscious cake. Clavell's marriage of detail and whimsy make for characters and places with an endearing, enduring reality all their own. Ideal for preschool and young elementary children, Thrump-O-Moto may require a few laptimes for tots with short attention spans; but don't be surprised if when you finally reach the end, you are asked to begin the adventure all over again!

Mom of a Lorre fan
This is an extremely honest portrayal of a teenager who yearns for something other than what she has. The writing is literate, lyrical, and insightful. The content of the book contains much more insight into a young girl's psyche than just the obsession she has with the dead actor. The book is much less about Peter Lorre than about the author, and her coming of age in a society and culture that she feels left out of.

witty and poignant -- and a wonderful tribute to Peter!
Reading Anne Sharp's _The Peter Lorre Companion_ makes me think of all the girlhood loves I never outgrew and still relish to this day. I saw my first Peter Lorre film at age 27 (and fell hopelessly in love with the man) but like the author says, the book is mainly about her childhood and adolescence. Sharp writes about love, old movies, divorce, friendships, sex, families, Catholic schools and various obsessions with a great deal of humor, wisdom and sensitivity. Whether or not you're a Peter Lorre fan isn't the point -- if you have ever longed for a lover who is always there for you, who is real and yet mysterious and uniquely attractive, you will relate to these stories. I found I couldn't put the book down. Highly recommended! (and now, for those uninitiated into Lorre-love, go and rent "Mad Love" or the 1934 version of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" and find out what all the fuss is about...)

"The Trouble With Angels" meets "Catcher in the Rye"
Or maybe not. Maybe the best way to describe it is a reverse "Lolita" where the little girl is chasing after the dirty old man of her dreams...whatever, it's brilliant.

*Almost* All you Need!
I received this book as a gift from a dear friend who knows just how much I love Ireland. She was right on the mark with "Eyewitness Travel Portrait of Ireland". This book has it all!

It starts out with basic info; finding Ireland on a map, it's history, landscape, wildlife and people. It then moves on to a region by region review of places to visit and the towns/sights to be seen. The book has a ton of information as well as beautiful photographs to give you a feeling of what you'd see. I especially liked that the hardback book I have is bigger and easier to view than it's soft cover counter part. I've seen the smaller version and, even though the information is the same, you lose a lot in trying to see those teeny, tiny pictures. Go for the big one if you have the room! There's not much difference between them in price.

If you plan on going to Ireland I can only suggest you suppliment this book with a guide like Frommer's that give you places to eat and stay as well as all the prices. "Travel Portrait" lists which places have fees but not exact amounts. It also lists which towns have market days, which sights require fees and offer tours, which ones are handicap accessible and what the open and close dates are for most places.

I love this book and you will, too. It is well worth owning!

Great Book / Great Gift
Essentially a travel guide in a large format, this book makes an exceptional gift for anyone with a hint of Irish blood or an interest in the Emerald Isle. Beautiful images are married to very readable text and interesting sidebars and facts. Printed on glossy, coffee-table-book paper, the pictures really jump out, grab you, and drag into the incredible scenery and history of one of the most spellbinding islands on earth.

Portrait of Ireland
In Dorling Kindersley's unique and highly readable style, Protrait of Ireland takes the reader to Ireland through photgraphs and interesting facts. Perfect for all ages, Portrait of Ireland offers snippets of information enabling even the smallest attention span to glean valuable information about Ireland.

Sharp's Firearms by Frank M Sellers
Without a doubt the finest reference on Sharps Rifles available.Mr Sellers has done the research and cleared up any argument as to what the plains buffalo rifles were; calibre, weight and configuration. The illustrations and first hand accounts of owner's of these fine firearms are first rate.

A must for Sharps shooters!.
The book is a very valuable resource for anyone interested in Sharps rifles and the part they have played in American history. As avid sharps rifle shooters my wife and I both enjoyed the book.

A wealth of information on the Sharps firearm.
I have read with great interest Mr. Sellars' book on the Sharps firearm. It is well researched with all the data that could be found on this firearm, including wonderful photographs. It covers every known Sharps firearm. I cherish this book above all others in my collection. Without a doubt, Frank Sellers should be very proud of this book! And so will anyone who owns it. I know I am.

Excellent
This is the one Smalltalk book that I carry with my laptop. If there's a Smalltalk feature that I haven't dealt with in some time then I'll take a peek at it here before I do anything else. It's great for Smalltalkers who are just about to ascend the steep portion of the language's learning curve - this book will drag you right up to the top!

Relatively very good.
This book very readable and informative if you are working with the VisualWorks SmallTalk interpreter. Most books on Smalltalk are quite useless. Maybe because there are various SmallTalk interpreters with their own basic class structures. I'm still looking for a book like this but twice the size, so that it includes comprehensive GUI analysis, garbage collection, IO handling, etc. However, for what this book sets out to do, it does it very well.

One of the best books on Smalltalk
This book is fun to read and to learn from. It teaches so many advanced Smalltalk programming techniques. Those that make the difference between an expert and a beginner. It is a quantum jump for the reader. Wisdom and pleasure in doing it better awaits you here. Unique, motivating appreciation for the beauty of this language.

This is the PERFECT gift!
I bought this book for my knife collecting husband who not only loves Spyderco, but is an avid reader. He immediately read the book from cover to cover and refers to it on what seems to be a daily basis. He routinely reads passages to me when we're discussing his knives and why he prefers Spyderco over all others. If you know someone who likes folding knives at all, BUY THIS BOOK!

GREAT GIFT book for dads, brothers, uncles etc.
If you are looking for the perfect gift for a knife collector/user or anyone interested in knives, THIS IS THE PERFECT GIFT.

As one who has none of these characteristics, I found the book fascinating- an intriguing look at a world I knew nothing about. The final chapter is an unexpected gold mine of ideas and insights into a company, Spyderco, whose philosophy is guided by integrity ... "being good even if no one is watching".

You'll buy this book because it's the definitive book about a great knife company and its products. When you read it, you will get a lot more...you will learn about the company they call "the mouse with a megaphone" and it's no Mickey Mouse either!

First-class book!
I am fascinated by the book's descriptions of the design-rationale behind each of Spyderco's many knives.

Also, the book describes the management philosophy and practice at the Spyderco company. Fascinating insight into what makes Spyderco knives so good!

A nice feature of the book is that it can be read in bits and pieces. It has lots of glossy photos. It reminds me of reading National Geographic magazine. Parts are nice for casual browsing, other parts have in-depth description.

If I have my pants on, I'm carrying a Spyderco knife! If your Spyderco knife is indispensible, I'm confident you'll like this book!

A Stimulating and Practical Guide Book
I have perused many guide books on the Alps, but this is the best one for planning a trip. Why? 1.Instead of unintelligible maps and chunks of incomprehensible prose, this guide has clear maps and concise descriptions (plus good pictures) that help you decide which trip is right for you. 2.The author includes a great range of hikes, from day trips to 2-3 days to longer treks. Also summit climbing routes on mountains from easy to moderate difficulty, plus snowshoe hikes for winter. 3. Unlike guide books that are only about getting from point A to B, this one has a lot of really interesting information about the history, flowers, wildlife, architecture, and culture of the alps. It's a complete package for planning a great trip.

Trekking and Climbing in the Western Alps
An excellent book that will appeal equally to walkers and climbers. The selection is wide and varied and the format is easy to follow.A detailed and thorough first hand knowledge is much in evidence and the writer does a great job in promoting The Alps. One suspects that there will be more books to follow from this author.I am planning to do the Chamonix--Zermatt trek this summer and Hilary`s description makes it all the more enticing.I can`t wait to get there!!

very useful guidebook
nice price for a book detailing 22 different Alpine treks. Ms. Sharp includes practical "how to" information on each trek, as well as essentials on technical peaks that are accessible along the way. Her knowledge and love of the Alps is obvious from the text, and the photos are a real motivator to get over to Europe and do them all. Printed on high quality paper, this is a useful take-along resource for anyone who wants to include some adventure in a visit to Europe. Highly recommended.

Inspirational verses from the angels
My mom sent me this book a while back as a gift. Each two pages is illustrated with an angel and golden decorations that give the book a touch of class. It is what it has to say that is worth a hundred times more than the price. Each two pages are titled with a different angel and words of wisdom to go along with it.

Examples would be Angel of Compassion, Angel of Giving, and Angel of Commitment, which is one I re-read often. This book is a great gift or something to fall back on again and again. Kelsana 12/14/01

A great inspirational gift book
Angel Prayers is a great inspriational book to be read daily. I've given many away as gifts; the words seem to fit any given situation. I also like her other book 100 Ways to Attract Angels.
