Thank you Sr. Anita for your passionate account of the quantum leaps you made. You paved the way for other Sisters to do just what you were doing in the 1960's, only they didnt have to loose their religious status as you all sacrificed in the name of Integrity and Faith. Thanks for including the beautiful pictures of days gone by of the beautiful violet-blue "Hollywood Nuns", along with present day photos. I pray that your community continues to draw others with your passion and desire to serve our World with Integrity and Purpose.

What an awesome book. As a Catholic, Southern California native I felt very connected to this book. Anita and Susan are beautiful writers with a lovely dry sense of humour. I highly recommend this book to all Catholics.

And thank God that Sister Anita Caspary had the health, energy, and motivation to gift us with this so thoroughly documented story of a scandalous power play in the Church. Marie has lived with an ADHD kid, and has not only survived, but thrives on helping other parents find resources and help for their kids! Her approach is lively, caring and flexible. Highly recommended by a clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist, who offers EEG biofeedback in her practice!

As a mother of three, all of Marie's approaches can work with any child. It gives great alternatives in helping your child get past sticking points. I don't know how I have lived so long without this book! I truly believe that Dr. Savard's book, "How to Save Your Own Life" should be required reading for anyone who cares about their health. This collection of poetry has me breathless! The depth of emotion in these poems is endless. So much beauty is presented here it is virtually indescribable. I can only say that any poetry lover needs this book, and anyone interested in beautiful writing should truly consider investing in this book. You do not have to be a fan of poetry to fall for this poet, his words are like stories that engulf you in its tale, never letting go! Many nights I have found myself still immersed in a world of his creation long after I had closed the book.

To put it simply: Kenneth Wood is an amazing poet, a timeless visionary, and most importantly, an epic storyteller!

I'm almost at a loss for words when I try to find a way to review this book! Epic, grandiose, Mesmerizing...three simple yet powerful words that could easily accompany this book.

It goes without saying that indeterminate amounts of heart, mind, soul, and integrity went into the creation of this book, from cover to cover. While reading this book the most predominate emotion I feel is sheer amazement. Simply put, this man writes intense, amazing heartfelt poetry! And more than that, he has the ability to create stories and new worlds' for the readers, creating a vivid, welcoming escape to the dreary, monotonous drone of everyday life.

This book will stay at my bedside when sleep eludes me, and when the nighttime birds do not sing me to sleep, these words will guide me to a place of deep peace. This is a guarantee.

Again, I am trying to find words to explain something virtually beyond words of praise. This is an ocean of thought, in which you'll gladly drown.

Pen on, my friend, pen on...

This book reminds me of one of my favorite authors'...Stephen Crane! He is most notably known for his "Red Badge of Courage" book, but he wrote some wonderful, alluring poetry.

There are about 200 pages in this book and every page is a wonderful read. He is mainly a free verse poet, straying from the typical rhyming scheme we see in a lot of poetry these days, but he is not above writing this kind of poetry. Most of the rhyming poems are short with a lot of punch, or they come in free form style without structure and a fast flow, and it's great. It reminds me of rap style, which is rare in poetry. I could see a lot of these poems going over well in poetry slams.

Another great thing about the book is it is broken up into sections and each section ends with a long epic-style poem at least 3 pages long. The first sections seems to be the lighthearted section where he seems to touch upon love and hope, and other things of that nature.

The second section is the darker section, with poems written in a manner to express sadness and despair, even psychosis!

The third section reads like a story and I believe this is what the author intended it to do. There are two sub-sections aptly name "The End" (section 1) and "The Beginning" (section 2). It starts with a foreword type statement, a prelude if you will, and into the first poem which is a haunting plea written to himself called "A Letter From Prison" and that sets a sad tone of despair. Still, as the reader progresses through the pages you find yourself intrigued as to where he is going, and when your reach the end you can actually feel the hope and love withing his words! You will strain to hold tears back after reading the final poem!

All in all, I could not find one thing wrong with this book! Fans of poetry will LOVE this book, and I cannot stress that more. For those who do not like poetry may want to give this a try, you've never read poetry like this! Kenneth is a great poet and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves!

A beautiful, oftentimes tear-jerking compilation of some of the most poignant personal essays of black women's triumphs over life's tragedies and the things that make them appreciate life and give them a reason for living. This book will definitely encourage all of us to believe that things will only get better with time for no pain lasts forever if we truly believe.

I highly recommend it!

This book include essays from all types of women, about everyday problems that women go through. You can learn something from each of the ladies included in this book. The two essays that most stand out for me is To a Son of a Dear friend by jean Buchanan, it's the sad letter to the author's late best friend's son about growing up with his mom. I am just tryin to live Holy by Pamela Shine is about a 40 year old virgin tryin to find love. I think everyone will love this collection of essay, and relate.

Our book club hosted a retreat in which this book was assigned. This book is highly recommended for one's personal library! The selection of authors/essayists in this "anthology" on life according to the African American woman is superb! I applaud Daniels and Sandy for the collection of writings and for organizing a book that African American women can identify with. Bravo ladies! -LC

Organized by size and shape, this book is always in our kitchen, with probably 4-5 of our all-time favorites which we cook over and over and over. Valuable one to give, which is how we got ours.

I picked up my copy in 1990 when I was in college and haven't stopped using it. As a college student my favorite dish was the fresh tomato, basil and ricotta sauce on ziti. Yum! When I was a nanny for a California family with California taste, recipes like the spaghetti with blue cheese and walnuts saved my fanny. And now that I'm married and cook for my extended family, one of my favorite potluck dishes is the "light and easy" Salad of Penne and Chicken with Spinach and Buttermilk Dressing. My family loves it too.

I love the spiral binding and hard cover that lay flat. The different chapters ("Asian Connection," "No-Cook Sauces") etc. make for good browsing. And I like that many additions are offered too.

Lots of times I pull out a variety of things from my fridge and cupboard and then go to this cookbook to figure out what to make. For example, if I had leftover spaghetti, some eggs, and a handful of veggies to chop up, I could bang out a delicious spaghetti frittata that I know my family would love.

This cookbook has been a staple in my kitchen for 11 years and has held up wonderfully!

This cookbook is one of the most often used of my collection of 100+. The "Emergency Dinners" chapter is wonderful! It includes a list of 16 staples, regular stuff, like olive oil and onions and bacon. These staples are combined in various ways to make the 16 recipes in the chapter, all of them delicious and very quickly prepared, great for unexpected weeknight dinner guests. Many of the recipes in the "Italian Classics" chapter are as easy and quick to prepare as the emergency dinners, and are as good as versions I've had in Italian restaurants. In fact, every chapter includes recipes that are easy to prepare, although some require longer cooking times. The "American Classics" and "Elbows" chapters include a bunch of variations on macaroni and cheese, and may be helpful in getting kids to eat more vegetables, and some unfamiliar ingredients.

I searched through several publications on Candida, both online and printed materials, and nothing compares to the extraordinary, invaluable information packed into this book. I wanted something that contained the following: Explained what Candida is; Possible causes; Symptoms of Candida and closely related health problems; How to treat it naturally as well as through traditional medicine; Candida diet recipes.

A Candida diet was always difficult to find since many sources contradicted one another and/or contained food sensitivities while offering no alternatives. I, too, am someone whose life was changed for the better with this book. It is thorough, comprehensive, well-organized, with both the Western approach and nutritional/herbal/homeopathic remedies. The recipes are fabulous. As many people have mentioned (and as the authors point out with infectious zeal in their book), even those without dietary restrictions will enjoy! Absolutely recommended. This book is one of the best investments in your good health you can make.

Having suffered from candida symptoms for years and knowing intellectually that I should change my diet(emotionally finding it hard), I started trying to educate myself by buying books. All the other books made me feel a little hopeless and isolated. Not eating meat cut down my choices of allowed foods. I'd get desperate and reach for the potato chips and candy bars again. This book is sooo wonderful. I'm excited about trying all the recipes--vegetarian recipes!-and taking the restaurant suggestions to heart so I can go out and eat with my friends. Also ,Miss Martin and Dr. Rona have the most comprehensive overview of natural anti-candida fighting actions I've seen. I don't feel hopeless anymore. Thanks for this wonderful book!

this book was much better than it sounded when i first read the back cover. i wasn't sure i'd like it, but when a friend gaave it to me to read, i found myself enjoying the story. i was anxious to find out what happened next. i highly recommend this book.

What an incredible book! If you like sci-fi or time travel, this is a great read. Funny, suspenseful, full of great characters and a well-thought out and written plot contribute to a highly enjoyable read. I certainly recommend it

I picked up an audio book version of this book (unabridged of course!) on a whim. The cover blurb struck several of my interests; virtual reality, time travel, aliens, etc; so I decided to check it out. By about the middle of the book I was finding excuses to sit in my comfy car and listen! With a twist around each corner, and spectacular 4th dimensional storyline development, I was absolutely hooked. If you can get yourself a copy of this in book or audio form, I personally guarantee, you with treasure it!

I enjoyed reading this book. My son enjoys playing with the magnets that came with the book. This book is quite an original book. Lisa Marie conveys her thoughts about parenting by telling us about her real life experiences with her own children. It is truly an inspiring book. I think I will read this book few more times! Now I look forward to reading Lisa Marie's next book, 'Getting There with Grace'.

Getting there by Lisa Marie Nelson is a must have book for parents who are searching for a book on parenting. A spiritual parenting handbook which deals with many of life's child rearing questions answered in a wonderful anecdotal and problem solving way. A huge help in steering your children through life's journey. This book is brightly colored, spiral bound and filled with wonderful family activities, projects and solutions to some of the difficult problems parents face in raising children in these times. This Hello Kitty book is really a cute idea. It has ideas for any one of any young to middle age! It has graphics that might make little kids want to read it, but if you're older, don't get disscoursged, because it has great ideas for organizing things, and how to deal with 'little' issues. It shows you different styles for different occasions, and as I said, the way they write it mught be kind of babyish, but it really does have a good theme. I think If you read it for what it's worth, and what the text says, and think of the pictures as being something to add onto the text, you will probally enjoy the book. If your 10 and under, don't worry you'll love it most likely. If you like Hello Kitty, no doubt you'll like this book!

I thought I'd picked a winner and was right. My 11 year old sister loved it.

The book is a good one, it has advice ranging from friendship, to fashion, and even a little nutrition thrown in for good measure. All of the info is solid, thoughtful and heartfelt.

A lot of kids seem to be raising themselves these days, either through family breakups or just a lack of attention. While nothing replaces solid advice from a loved one, books on being a young woman can be quite helpful in sorting out the things children deal with growing up. This one certainly is.

I am a little older than the target age group for most HK products, but I love and collect HK and was thrilled to see a nifty little book like this come out. I have given 3 copies away as gifts to my niece, sister and a family friend and am about to purchase another as a gift for another young lady because I think the information inside is so vital and perfect! It helps girls learn about who they are, rules of etiquette, and has lots of creative ideas to keep the mind sharp, all at a simple, fun & easy-to-read pace. Brilliant! (and worth every penny!)
