Extremely Helpful
Cliff Notes have always helped me in the past have a greater understanding of classic literture, and this guide to Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is no exception.

The guide covers all of the chapters with a summary, commentary and glossary for definitions. The guide also includes a brief biography of the author, character analyses, a review section(which contains: Questions and answers, identify the quote, essay questions, and practice projects), a resource center(which contains: books with more information and web sites), and critical essays.

I highly recommend this guide to anyone who wants a better understanding of this classic book.

This book has an extrodianry amount of suspense it was good for people who like long books, i think Jane Austen is an good novelist.

They really help

Racing Pigeons by David Glover
This is a good book with good information. The book was received in excellent condition (new) and in a very timely manner.

Racing Pigeons by David Glover
I have raised pigeons for over 45 years and have read most everything avaiable about them, This book is a very good one and has lots of pictures that give the reader a clear picture of what he is describing in the text. There are not many good books on the racing side of the sport so this one should be welcomed. I would highly recommend it to anyone that has an interest in learning more about raising or racing pigeons.

My new bible!
An amazing book! Excellent. Brilliant. Inspired. This book is brimming with wit and humor and is a wonderful example of the genius that sprouts out of the European people on occasion. A book like this is as rare as they come... Glover and Beaumont are surely paving the way for a new breed of comedy. Keep an eye out... this book is sure to win a Pulitzer. I can only hope to hear more from these outrageous new authors in the future. Truly!

Scenic Byways of Northern California
Aha! So there IS a portion of California, beyond San Francisco and the wine country worthy of a visitor's exploration. Ms. Weisbrod writes of her discoveries in an entertaining fashion. She interweaves history's passages with the rugged and winding terrain of today, storytelling at it's best. Which way to go? What to see? Where to stop? Where to stay? Whether you carry along "Scenic Byways of Northern California" as a guide to your next adventure, or savor the read from the cozy cushions of your armchair, you will enjoy owning it--and giving it as a gift!

An Excellent Guide for Exploring California's Scenic Byways
Marie Weisbrod shares from her experiences traveling the history-rich northwest corner of California, visited by few modern Californians. This is an excellent guide for those interested in exploring quiet backroads, away from vacationing crowds.

Highly recommended!
Ms. Weisbrod has written a wonderful travel book that belongs in every vagabond's library. She has traveled extensively in the Siskiyou-Cascade region, which serves to make the area spring to life through her personal observations and lively retelling of historical events. I can't wait to see more from this gifted author.

One of the best plays I've ever seen
I first saw this play at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival in Scotland, which was the loftiest goal that its authors and performers had set for it. The world quickly recognized how small they were really thinking to have produced such a masterpiece, and the show had a run on the West End and then came to Broadway.

This is one of the funniest plays I've seen/read since Noises Off. Although it takes some imagination when reading the text, one can easily see how utterly comic and tragic the production is. I love this play because it allows actors to stretch, because it doesn't rely on big sets and fancy costumes to engage the audience, and because it's funny as hell. A good read, and a definite must-see.

Excellent play
This play is genius. It is hysterical, touching and heartbreaking. However, one cannot grasp this from the text. I rated this five stars because the show itself is unbelieveable, and the show is the exact text of the book. Regardless, one must see the show to comprehend the genius inherent here.

Poignantly truthful hilarity
I had the privilege to see this play performed at the Duke of York's Theatre on St. Martin's Lane in London this January. I was rolling in the aisles and laughing so hard that my stomach hurt. Marie Jones' masterful understanding of the rural Irish makes for an incredibly funny and deeply authentic portrayal of two Kerrymen who are hired as extras on a big-shot Hollywood filmset. For a good laugh and a stunning view of real Irish people, read it. Then see it, if at all possible. Excellent.

A Summer For Boys
Published in Hardcover by Vantage Press (18 January, 2001)
Author: Deana Marie
Amazon base price: $13.95
Average review score:

Wonderful Story for School Age children
A delightful tale of two brothers who initially dread spending the summer with their grandparents. The story reminds the reader of simpler, less hectic times and will reinforce core values that all children should understand. The author has an insightful knowledge to Michigan's upper peninsula and weaves the treasures of an unspoiled state into a well told story about two boys summer vacation. An excellent addition to your childs library. Recommended age from 6-13 years of age.

FIRST EFFORT
A good first effort from a new writer. This is a excellent book for adolescent boys to read but also a refreshing book for adults who will be reminded of some lost values.

A Story for everyone
This story, the first published for Deana Marie, is one that the whole family can enjoy. The story is about three brothers going to the Upper Penisula in Michigan to visit their grandparents for the summer. What they discover is an appreciation for nature, a respect for the older generation, and the importance of faith and family. It is a great book to remind anyone of what is really important in life, eachother. It also includes a wonderful description of one of the most beautiful places in the nation.

A sitting-on-your-lap story
I am a grandparent and can't wait to read this book to my two year old grandson. The bright action-like illustrations that you see as you turn every page I know will capture his attention as I read the simple short rhyming story on the corresponding page. I think children who have been exposed to the ocean and its creatures will particularly love this story.

What a surprise!
This book is a wonderful story that has a rhyme on every page. The illustrations are beautiful and full of depth and meaning. My children and I have read it time and again and my 2 year old is learning the rhymes! We laugh everytime we see how Ray shows his frown...

Bly shows how to be a great friend and have great character.
I absolutely adore this book! The pictures are vibrant and eye catching, the rhyming makes it easy to read, and the story is phenomenal! This is an excellent example for children - it shows great character. Children are mesmorized by the blue ocean scenes and all the ocean characters. The facts at the end of the book are a nice touch also. I highly recommend this book for children and adults. It teaches us ALL how to be a great friend!

Strongly recommended for all animal lovers
Through Animals' Eyes: True Stories From A Wildlife Sanctuary is an anthology about the creatures cared for by Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation (WRR). Founded by the author in 1977, WRR provides sanctuary for orphaned, injured, or displaced wildlife, rehabilitating them for eventual release - or providing them with permanent care in large natural habitats if they are deemed nonreleasable. WWR also gives permanent care to exotic wild animals that have suffered from the pet trade, roadside zoos, or research facilities. From the raccoon with burned feet who perseveres to survive, to an abandoned emu who makes friends with a one-winged vulture in a game of pick-up sticks, these tales put one in the skin, fur, or feathers of the creatures who have paid the price of man's expansion. Through Animals' Eyes is strongly recommended for all animal lovers.

A Lovely Read
This charming vignette of stories will leave you with a new and wonderful perspective of wildlife, as well as a great deal of respect for the people at Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation in Boerne, TX. This book is a must read for anyone with a love for the wildlife of these United States.

Couldn't Put It Down
This book was given to me as a gift and I couldn't put it down. This heartwarming book takes you into the emotions and thoughts of wild animals. They come alive and you see them as the caring, loving and intelligent beings they are. This book will make you never able to look at a wild animal as a "dumb" animal or expendable resource again.

A Marvelous Book
This is the very best book one could have if he is interested in the early history of New York City and the area immediately surrounding it. The coverage of Native Americans is especially strong, fascinating from beginning to end. The authors know their subject thoroughly, write beautifully, and have given us an exciting, scholarly work that will be a classic for some time to come.

New York's underground history
New York, like no other city in the world, is a city of spectacular heights and many books have been written about the buildings that rise to the skies. How many people, however, think about what lies beneath the vast weight of edifices and human life that exists above the ground? In this compelling and instructive book, Anne-Marie Cantwell and Diana diZerega Wall have a given us a lesson not only about the artifacts and remains that have lain dormant for centuries but also in the history that surrounds their burial and ultimate exposure.

In a time-line fashion (11,000 years before present to today) the authors reconstruct a picture of what life might have been like during these times. Lest one think the unearthings are limited to Manhattan, they are not. All five boroughs are represented. There were moments during the reading of this book that I wanted the authors to spend more time recounting the actual excavations to which they refer, but in the end their historical perspective is the link that saves the day. Without it, their offerings would be no more than a field trip.

My future trips around the city will be made with a new awareness as I ask myself, "I wonder what lies beneath....". It is a question we all can ask.

Old (Very Old) New York Unearthed For the Future
Imaginative and graceful writing, based on a firm foundation of archaeological and historical evidence, make this book enormously appealing. Underlying the authors' speculations and conclusions is a vast amount of ecological and artifactual evidence, prehistoric and historic. Cantwell and Wall discuss the ways people have built their dwellings, made their livings, coped with adversity, celebrated successes, and performed various rituals in and around New York's changing ecological and social environment for the past 11,000 years.

"Unearthing Gotham" is enhanced by a beautifully selected set of illustrations ranging from early stone points found in Staten Island through archaeological site maps, drawings of New Amsterdam from the 1620's, a lithograph view of Five Points around 1827 to the Van Cortlandt Mansion in the 1990's.

In view of the recent Trade Center catastrophe, this book is particularly reassuring. Given the continuing efforts of preservationists, New York's long history in all its diversity will not only be preserved for the future, but that history will continue to be made. I strongly recommend "Unearthing Gotham" to anyone interested in archaeology, history, the long life of a great city, and New York itself.

Great Illustrations and Music
My 3-year-old has mastered putting cds in her computer drive solely to listen to this cd over and over again. She follows along in the book with each song and sings out loud. Illustrations are beautifully done and we have enjoyed drawing, painting and coloring our own versions of these Unpopular Animals. Many thanks to Nana for this gift to her granddaughter!

Unpopular Animals Review
What a gem! The characters come to life in a thrilling and enchanting way. The most alluring piece of the children's text is the artists portrayal of the animals. This book is sure to become a classic and loved by all children for many years to come!!!

Great for grandma/child interaction
This is a wonderful collection of versus for interaction between adult and child. This is a great way to engage children in reading rhymes.

Really deserves 10 stars! However, I must warn you...
This is THE BEST book there is on Versailles (which is probably why its normally a hundred bucks!) There is only one problem I have ever had with the book and that is the poor physical quality. I had to order it twice because my first copy fell completely apart within a few weeks. Needless to say I was not happy at all when that happened. Every copy that I have seen (in libraries, other bookstores) has the same problem. Normally, I would not have tried again after that, but I HAD to have this book. My second one has also begun to separate from the binding, so I rarely read it... but when I do, I use **EXTREME** care. I think the main reason for this is the size and weight of the book, so if you decide to purchase it, keep that in mind. I recommend turning the pages *slowly* and not leaving it completely flat and/or open for any long period of time. Also, store it horizontally, NOT vertically... the pages are so heavy, they will end up tearing themselves out!

Absolute perfection!
Without a doubt, the most beautiful and informative book ever on the Palace of Versailles. Architectural history , decorative wonders, sumptuous furniture, this book explores it all! THE BOOK for all lovers of Versailles or eighteenth century French art.

The definitive Book On Versailles And The French Court!
I knew when I first visited Versailles in 1986, that I did not see everything. When I found this book I was floored! It answered all my questions about the social life of Versailles, and gave me a thorough foundation on the history of the French Court. As a lover of historic architecture and garden design, I can honsetly say that this book is a DREAM!!! French Architectural historian Perouse de Montclos brillantly traces the history of Versailles from hunting lodge to this incrediable architectural masterpiece. The photographs are fabulous, the text first rate. My favorite section was the one devoted to the extensive grounds and fountains. If you are a collector of "coffee table" books on architecture, add this one to your collection!!
