I gave this book 5 stars because on some days her mom doesn't say where she's from. But, he shows it in the illustrations. On the close ups they are great. You can see every little detail. He makes the pictures come alive.

Voyagis from Asley River Creative arts El.
The book Mamma Were Are You From? taught me a lesson. It showed me that the little girl wants to know where her mother is from. It was fantastic. It especially tells you what their life was like. For example, it showed me where they got the food, like fish and ice. It showed people helping by putting the string beans on the table. People were drinking soda, eating fried fish, and having fun at the cookout. Chris's illustrations are fantastic. I like his drawings. Chris Soentpiet, you're the best!

(...)
I give this book five stars because it's a good book and I Like how Chris Soentpiet did an excellent job on his Illustrations.
He did a good job because he took his time to Illustrate people
and he did a good job. Chris Soentpiet is the best Illustrator
in town. My Favorite part in Momma Where Are You From is when
she helps her mom put the food on the table for dinner. I like the Illustrations because he did a wonderful job and I wish I
could buy one of his books.

One True Vow
One True Vow: Love Stories of Faith and Commitment restores my faith in the institution of marriage. The individual stories in this book are not only entertaining, but heart wrenching as well. Many of these real-life couples have gone through trials and tribulations that most people couldn't even imagine. I found One True Vow a great read--a page turner--as I read each couple's true story of love and faith, along with discouragements, rejections, unfaithful spouses, deaths, empty nesters, rebellious teenagers in blended families, and how they overcame their difficulties and still remained married. I highly recommend One True Love for anyone married or thinking of getting married, and especially for those thinking of separation or divorce.

I met and spoke to Eva Marie Everson during a women's retreat and found her to be a loving, warm person who truly cares about people. She has a strong, Biblically-based faith in God and is a fabulous speaker. Her southern charm and humor will not only engage you and draw you into her stories, but she will make you feel totally comfortable and at home. I highly recommend Eva Marie for speaking engagements such as retreats, writers' seminars, church groups, men's and women's groups.

Attention young couples, newlyweds, and life-long partners!
Are you wondering if you're ready for marriage?
Are you wondering what happens when the honeymoon's over?
Are you wondering if there's any hope?

Then you should check out this book. It is filled with such incredible stories (real-life accounts) of commitment and hope, and faith and love, when couples face adversity in their relationships.

What a blessing it was to read. Yes, there is hope -- the stories in this book clearly illustrate this fact.

It would be a great gift for young couples, newlyweds and those who have been married for years!

Enjoy!

Marriage 201
One True Vow is the second act. Marriage: Part 2. As the newlywed high wears off and couples kick it in for the long haul, they discover a wedding may be a destination, but a marriage is a journey. The challenging path can be safely navigated regardless of bumps, obstacles and downright crevasses, only with the help of your Guide, Jesus Christ. After 29 years of marriage, 8 kids and 2 grandkids, we know we'd have never made it without Him. Read this book and rejoice in the miracle of a marriage replete with the presence and grace of God. Don't settle for I Do when you can have Happily Ever After.

The standard English edition of a landmark eccentric classic
The standard edition of this work in the US, and a lively one. Jean-Anthelme de Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826) is known for this book and for pithy maxims like "Adam and Eve sold themselves for an apple. What would they have done for a truffled fowl?" (That of course in the days when the truffles that most people heard of were real ones, not chocolate candies that look like them; and also when the real ones were much more plentiful and less expensive.) Memorable are the wonderful anecdotes of the kindly old priest and his "austere" meatless menu ("The Curé's Omelet," with "theoretical notes" afterwards) and of Brillat's scheme at a country inn to enhance a humble dish. This wide-ranging book established its author as an original and knowledgeable voice in French food writing, to be compared with Carême and Grimod de la Reynière.

Brillat-Savarin, among other roles, was the basis of Marcell Rouff's _The Passionate Epicure,_ a fictional book gently combining food and sex (naturally, as a friend of mine remarked, since it's French), which was widely read in English when the translation appeared in 1962. Marcella Hazan and (I believe) Julia Child cited it in their cookbooks. In his preface to the 1962 Rouff, Lawrence Durrell (himself a fashionable author at that time) explained that many in the Brillat-Savarin family "died at the dinner table, fork in hand" and that Brillat's sister Pierrette, two months before her hundredth birthday, spoke at table what are to food fanatics easily the most famous last words ever: "Vite! Apportez-moi le dessert -- je sens que je vais passer!"

Fisher's translation and notes are a lively part of this edition of Brillat-Savarin (happily reprinted recently). Some booksellers offer newer editions by different English translators; I don't know why. This semi-scholarly translation and editing, executed in France during the post-war period described in her autobiographical _Two Towns in Provence,_ was the work that established Mary Frances Kennedy Fisher among US gastronomic writers. Her later status as Official Food Celebrity encouraged journalists to cite her automatically (whether they had read her work or not), but at least this time, publicity and merit coincide.

Provides a timeless discussion of French food
Physiology Of Taste is an unabridged photomechnical reproduction of a classic 1925 edition and should be on the shelves of any serious and dedicated gourmet cook. Physiology Of Taste provides a timeless discussion of French food and cooking written in 1825 by a master at both culinary insight and writing. Whimsical reflection mixes with serious food insights in a most satisfying manner.

MFK's is the better translation
I noticed that the exact same 2 reviews are listed for both MFK Fisher's translation and the Penguin Classics edition. Let me say that I own both, and MFK Fisher's is by FAR the better one. It expresses Savarin's personality so well in English. Even though I am not a fan of her writing in general she is a first-rate translator of French! She captures the humor and poetry and makes it much more the book so many have read and loved. I've tried but I just don't enjoy the colder, more academic Penguin version. I am grateful to MFK Fisher for bringing this document to new life.

Pleasant Memories
This is a wonderful book to read with your children. My daughter, age 2 3/4 loves this book, even though she has never seen snow. It evokes happy memories of snowy days from my childhood. The watercolor pictures are beautiful with just enough playful detail to keep interesting when reading again and again. This book is well written and well illustrated. Stella is fun, with lots of energy, like Olivia (Ian Falconer).

we love you, stella
stella, with her red hair and similar fiesty personality, is the PERFECT guide for both summer and winter fun. both my boys love her wacky, child-like and TRUE explanations of seahorses, snowbanks and fun to be had, either in a bathing suit or snowsuit. the illustrations are lovely, the text is true and the attraction for all is evident. this book should not be missed.

Queen is Right!!
Stella certainly is the Queen of her Domain, which is the world inhabited by her brother and herself. With her flaming red hair (a visual highlight of the book), she rules the roost when Sam sees snow for the first time. Stella's explanations to Sam of how the world functions are occasionally accurate but more often creative, alternative, and imaginary. They provide for some great laughs for children old enough to know the truth (bears don't really eat snowflakes for breakfast, do they. . . ?). Their anonymous and silent dog follows their adventures through building a snowman, building a snow fort for a snowball fight, sledding, and making snow angels. The dialogue is very child-like, without being childish and condescending. It gives kids a voice to which they can probably relate, whether it's the supremely confident Stella or the more cautious Sam.

The book's watercolors are very cool! Gay captures the orange-red of Stella's hair, the "safe" green of Sam's snowsuit, and the traditional brown of their dog. She captures amazing detail without being overwhelming: leaves and birds on the tree branches, the other kids in the snowball fight, the trip up and then down the hill on the sleds, and the making of snow angels (the final picture of the dog is priceless!!). The complexity of the pictures matches the level of the dialogue---somewhere between the intense complexity of a Grame Base, for example, and the beautiful simplicity of Eric Carle. Gay is right on the money.

Bottom line: This is a great book for kids and their parents! Parents will enjoy reading of Stella's parallel universe, and kids who are old enough to do so will enjoy correcting her errors. It's a fun day with Stella and Sam. It's almost worth getting the book for two pictures: Sam standing on a pile of snow, with his pot belly, firmly-secured hat, and green snow suit; and the dog doing the snow angel at the end. If you don't love Stella's hair and attitude, then you need to adjust your sense of humor.

Those Toes a Need Indeed!
Given as a present for my 4 year old daughter (now 5) this
book peaked her imagination. In both it's
writing and illustration We found it not only keeping
her interest during it's reading, but a desire to learn
more about the animals We read about. She is read to
every night, and as the books come and go, our little
one has kept it in her rotation, and We never get tired
of it. She now is beginning to read, and yes, it has
helped her a great deal with it's structure in writing.
Kudos to the authors.

Those Toes! What a wonderful story!
"Those Toes" is a wonderful story to read to your children! It is also an easy reading book for an early reader. However, my older children (7, 10, and 12) enjoyed reading this because of the information about the animals and how many toes they have! We look forward to reading more from this author!

Cheerful counting book
I bought "Those Toes" for my granddaughter. I was attracted by the bright illustration on the cover, and was not disappointed by the text or the interior illustrations. Cheerful, happy book and it looks like considerable research has gone into it, too.

New romance author + Leah Maria Brown = Fantastic!
New romance author, Leah Maria Brown has created a treasure for all bookshelves. Brown became one of my favorite authors at themestream.com last summer and she just keeps getting better. You'll find yourself being pulled into the book by her two main characters, Juliana Wintingue and Ian MacConnell.

You'll come away from this romance novel not only having found yourself a new passionate romance author but you'll be screaming for more. If you enjoyed the book as much as I did, you'll feel yourself become Juliana and go sailing the high seas. A great historical romance!

Willing Captive held me prisoner!
This is a gripping romance just in time for Valentine's Day gift giving. The author brought the characters alive. Ms. Brown is the closest heir to Karleen Koen that we'll ever get. This is a wonderful story of passion, romance, and treachery. If ever there was a book that delivered what it promised--this is it. A pleasure to read! DreamsinInk@Paris.com

I am not a Willing Captive of Leah Marie Brown
I love all things Scottish. I love history. I love rousing tales of romance. Willing Captive satisfied my longings on all accounts. It is a wonderful story with vivid characters. The hero is brawny and awe-inspiring, the heroine strong but likeable. A very good book. I am hooked on this author now.

Applicable to Men too!
Thanks to Ms. Marie for writing a down to Earth, no holds barred book. The frank and bluntly honest manner in which the information is presented is a breath of fresh air in a sea of self-help publications. The stories hit strangely close to home. The highs and lows of this book were reassuring that the issues of my family and I are not isolated. Recovery, sobriety and the positive sides of life are indeed possible after all. Great reading for all adult members of the affected family. Terrific work!

ONE WORD FOR THIS TALE
MARVELOUS! A MUST READ FOR ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY SUBSTANCE ABUSE! GREAT WORK TONI.

Trials, Triumph, and Empowerment
Toni Marie takes the reader on a wild international romp, covering all the bases of womanhood from drug addiction, single parenting, friendship, relationships, and the workplace. This from the heart tale describes the harsh realities of a woman's life from a first-person perspective told in a series of flashbacks. The author paints a vivid and painful world, including the 1980's drug subculture in San Francisco, to upper-class family life in the Gion District of Kyoto, to lonely military service in Germany. Throughout, the challenges of living life clean and sober are honestly and realistically portrayed and offer hope for addicts in recovery.

This book comes highly recommended for friends and family of addicts, for people struggling through recovery, for women facing everyday hardships at home and in the workplace, and for professionals working with a difficult and challenging population. _Lost at Home, Abroad_ is a handbook for life, a sourcebook for spiritual awakening, and a story of triumph, hope, and empowerment.

12 muffin books later, still #1
Over the past three years, I have purchased twelve muffin recipe books. Page for page, this is the best in the collection. Too many muffin books (to fill space I guess) fall back on offering you fourteen variations on a theme you already know. Ms. Simmons doesn't use up time and space with repetitive recipes. Get one and you will never leave home without Vagabond Muffins.

Absolutely the Best Muffins!
I've tried most of the recipes in the book, all are fantastic! Pumkpin praline being my favorite. They are easy to make and fast! Most of the recipes use ingredients you ordinarily keep on hand. All the muffins I have brought into work have been a big hit. If you ever need a muffin book buy this one!

This book made me a muffin baking addict!
I had received another muffin cookbook as a gift several years ago and then decided to try this one. It has been a hit. Every recipe I've tried has been great (particularly the carrot muffins and the lemon muffins). I still have many recipes left to try, but they all sound good. I am rapidly becoming the "Muffin Queen" and am buying two more copies as Christmas gifts.

I also recommend "Muffins: Sixty Sweet and Savory Recipes" by Elizabeth Alston.
