Not Just your Average Mud Pie
My two young daughters absolutely love this book. My youngest who is four took to the book as soon as I brought it home. The Best Mud Pie has become a bedtime staple when I tuck the girls in. The easy flow of the story keeps their attention. There has been a recent insurgence in the number of mud pies that appear on my counter so I know the book has been enjoyed. I strongly recommend this book to any parent who is looking for a story that their child will love and want to her again and again. It certainly brought back memories from my childhood!

Nicely Written; Colorfully Illustrated
"Best Mud Pie" written by Lin Quinn, and illustrated by Ronnie Rooney. Children's Press, "A Rookie Reader", Grolier, 2001.

In this, her first book, Lin Quinn has a winner. She has fashioned a cute story that hangs together as "Roberto" concocts a mud pie from "... sandy dirt and sticky dirt" and other interesting ingredients, including pinecones and sticks! All these ingredients are colorfully and faithfully illustrated, showing Roberto in a star-studded outfit, along with a white dog with one black eye patch. Each cooking utensil is a different color, not just humdrum gray aluminum. Ronnie Rooney's illustrations bring the story to life. Success is in the eating, Roberto's mud pie goes over with Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. This book is a "Rookie Reader", so the last page is a word list of 56 words that the young reader gets to use.

This book is nicely done and will provide many hours of reading enjoyment and learning.

A true friend
Lin McNulty is not only a wise and thoughtful individual, Lin McNulty is genuine in her beliefs. She is sound in mind, body and spirit. Her writings clearly illustrate her heart as well as her soul. An author and a creator everyone should come to know.

BuddhaCards for daily meditation
The BuddhaCards are "a mindfulness tool for guidance, focus, and inspiration through ancient Sanskrit text." Each of the 60 cards has a picture of a buddha and a word such as joy, reality, salvation, obstacle, sameness, bliss, and so on in English and also translated into Sanskrit. Most mornings, I meditate briefly, draw a card at random from the deck, and meditate again, this time on the word on the card. Then I try to keep that thought in my mind for the rest of the day. I have tried meditating off and on for years and haven't been able to focus well. Not only do the BuddhaCards give me a thought to focus on, but each thought--simplicity, action, salvation, etc.--also helps me to put my life in perspective and to see what is good in my life.

I really enjoyed this book. The Case of the Missing Mummy is my favourite 'New Adventure' book. Every Olsenfan should have this book, it's really great!!

THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK!
This was a very exciting book. I couldn't stop reading it. It kept me in suspense the whole time. I would give this book a million stars if I could!

The A-interface from A to Z
This book is the most comprehensive book I've seen on the A-interface for networking within cellular systems. It's truly evident that the authors have lived and breathed this technology and have boiled it down to the essentials while providing time saving tips along the way. Whether you will touch on this interface from the R&D or Operations side of the business this book is a "must-have"!

Excellent reference for the CDMA Open A-Interface
This is an excellent comprehensive book on the aspect of the CDMA networks. The contents of the book covered the Protocols(SS7, BSMAP), Supplementary features (OTASP, SMS etc) as well as implementations (call processing) for the Open-A interface standard, which is prevalent adopted in the U.S. PCS wireless systems.

Well illustrated figures and precise descriptions which make it an excellent reference for the CDMA network engineers even to an novice of CDMA.

Besides, G. Heine's (98') "GSM Networks: protocols, terminology and implementation" is also a good reference for the relevant topics.

Informative!!!
This is a wonderful resource tool. If your particular ministry is struggling or is in a bind, this resource offers helpful Godly solutions that very well may be the answer to your prayers.

Excellent Information Source for Christian Education
I just finished reading this book (9-15-00). It is a great compilation of articles written by different people on the subject of "Christian Education." It covers the Nature of CE, the Teaching-Learning Process, and relates it all the to scriptures and the church. It is a tremendous resource for CE because at the end of each chapter there are included many other resource books for further reading and research. It is well written and well documented.

Classic Chinese Short Stories, Vol. 1
Published in Audio Cassette by Audio Connoisseur (2002)
Authors: Lin Yu Tang, Feng Meng-Lung, P'u Sung-ling, Lu Hsün, Yeh Shao-Chün, and Yü Ta-fu
Amazon base price: $24.00
Average review score:

Fourteen Centuries, Seven Stories
Imagine trying to capture the richness of an ancient and vast culture at the rate of one short story for each two centuries! Audio Connoisseur has once again demonstrated its unique ability to bring the audio listener something special, fascinating, and different.

These stories are best approached without expectations. Their style and values are not those of western literature, yet they resonate at a deep human level. Romance, honor, betrayal, and societal change are familiar themes, but play out here in unexpected ways.

Lingering images: Runners are sent out to bring back a suspect for questioning. A schoolmaster, huddling in a crowded safe house while armies maneuver outside, wonders whether a demanding employer expects his presence in the classroom. An artist is unwilling to work a lesser medium than jade, though his distinctive style will surely disclose the hiding place in which he and his bride have escaped her vengeful and powerful family.

Reader Charlton Griffin employs only the most subtle nuance of Chinese inflection, using a palette of British accents to convey class relationships of the characters. The convention, familiar to BBC viewers, helps more than it distracts. Music is used sparingly, to set the stage and provide punctuation.

I would have preferred a bit more contextual information as a forward to each of the stories, explaining the region, the style, and clues to historical and sociological references. But that is a minor quibble. Four-and-a-half hours elapse quickly, I always wanted to hear the next side, and I was sorry to reach the end of the last tape. Fortunately, this is only Volume I and the series could go on for years without exhausting the subject material.

Fabulous entertainment from start to finish
Chinese literature is not often recorded, and I was delighted to come across this collection. This series of stories is wonderful from start to finish, and it is a fine representation of 2,000 years of Chinese storytelling. I have in my collection just about every set of recorded Chinese literature produced in the last decade and you can take it from me - this one is easily the best. This edition consists of seven short stories. The Bookworm is a delight and I particularly enjoyed The Jade Goddess. But they're all very, very well written. The narrator in this collection is someone I am not familiar with, but he reads beautifully and does all the voices of the characters. I think he may be one of the best narrators I have ever heard. The music and sound effects are really posh. This is a fantastic recording!!

Buy the whole series!
If you have a train-loving tot like I do, you will be thrilled by these books and trains. My 3.5 yo has been Thomas the Tank crazy since before he was two. He got his first Railway Adventure book, The Torpedo Run, last Christmas when he was 2.5. That is the 3rd book in the series, so we have bought the other two since.

The series starts with the storey of Tuck and Billy (girl) at their home in San Luis Obisbo, CA. The Daylight Limited goes by their house daily, and the whole family stops what they are doing to watch it go by. Tuck dreams up an idea for a train car, and the Holden family enters it into "The invention of tomorrow" contest in the 1939 World Fair. This starts the adventure that has Tuck and Billy riding on the Daylight Limited, the President Washington, and finally, the Torpedo.

The trains all existed, and there are pictures of the actual engines. The text is much more than I normally read for my 3.5 yo, but he has been captivated since he was 2.5. Now, he has started asking me questions, and these books have really grown with him.

In addition, Learning curve with Lionel has created toy replicas of the engines that run on batteries and are compatible with the TTT or Brio track and trains. We have all 3 engines.

appeals to all ages
I was surprised to see the age level of this book to be 9-12 years. Technically, I would agree, but I read it to my 3 and 5 year olds several times the first day and they were engrossed. We purchased it in a museum gift shop as a gift set incl. tape and toy train - look for it. Train lovers of all ages will be delighted.

Fantastic Profile Of One Of America's Finest Designers.
The collaborators on this comprehensive tribute to Edward Wormley have obviously put their heart and soul into this literary work. Edward Wormley was one of the special few. Without the research behind this book.. many future furniture designers and mid-century furniture fans would have been unable to hear the story of Edward and his find work at Dunbar.

Buy this book... it will be something to cherish.

Great Book On A True Modern Thought Leader
Extremely thoughtful and comprehensive presentation on the life and times of a noted Modern Design Icon, Edward Wormley.

His fresh unpretentious approach to style and furniture desgin is refreshing and much needed in an often complex world. This book is often out-of-print.

Like his classic designs for Dunbar furniture - this book will probably fall into the category of an American Modern design collectible...

Enjoy!

Scent and Feng Shui together for balance & wellness!
I loved this book! As an aromatherapy practitioner, it was refreshing to see Jami Lin take the power of essential oils and combine them with her extensive knowledge of Feng Shui. I love the techniques she gives for using aromatherapy to "code" our world to make effective changes. This is a practical, wonderful book that I recommend to anyone who wants to incorporate Feng Shui and aromatherapy into their life.

It integrates the chinese methods for personal healing
I enjoyed Ms Lin's thorough and easily understood use of chakras, feng shui, aromatherapy and tarot/I Ching. She molds them into an integrated system for understanding oneself and ones relation to the environment. This book is a feng shui must read!!!
