Letters to Cupid
I loved this book it really help me figure out love! It really reminded me of me talking to my friends about the same subject, laughing and giggling about it. This book is about a girl named Bridgett who just turned 13 years old, she once to find love in her complex life, Bridgett decides to look for it by doing a school report about it. She keeps seaching for true-love, and finds a mysterious sercet about her parents relationship. Bridgett also has a mishap with her older brother and his future wife. She searches in books, movies, internet and more, she conducts interveiws through the phone in a different voice. She writes letters to cupid describing her journey along the way, somewhat like a diary. This book was excellent and even though Bridgett went through sad stuff. And some hard to cope with stuff. Bridgett still keeps trying to figure love out. and I really liked that about her. I would reccomend this book to 11-13 year old girls. Who enjoy stories about life, friendship, happiness, and of course love. Try It!!! I am sure you will enjoy it!

An excellent review of ancient and modern Chinese ideas
Besides being an excellent overview of death throws of the cultural revolution, this book also gives insight into the intellectual split in Chinese traditional and modern thought- Confucian vs. Legalist. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of ancient Chinese history should read this to see the continuing revelence of ancient thought in China.

Essays, satires and sketches on China
This book consists of little witty essays written in a time when China is moving to a modern era with hopes and aspirations but it was also a time when direct criticism of government is dangerous. In order to expressed defiantly and freely of the government, Lin Yutang uses wit and humour to clothe his criticism to save himself. These delightful witty essays has a universal theme such as eating, hygiene, age, postscripts, Santa Claus, Bernard Shaw to name a few. It was probably here Lin Yutang shape his unique style of writing which was then seen in his later books. I feel this book is also written for our times, it's so real, fresh and can be reread time and time again. Further recommendation is the first part of this book but only listed as title in the Amazon catalogue, The Importance of Living by the author is also in publication and I hope his many other books and novels will be in print again in the future.

I Been Here Before I Lighted Out For The Territories
This volume of effervescence gives off more sparks than a campfire from "Roughing It". It also provides terrific context for a group of essays by Shelly Fisher Fishkin "Lighting Out for the Territories". For real fun read David Carkeet's modern recreation of Twain "I Been Here Before", a book Twain would have somehow wished to be included in his canon. Don't be surprised if someday Carkeet's book is included as a companion volume to the Oxford Mark Twain.

a superb treatment of graduate-level applied mathematics
This is surely one of the best if not the best applied mathematics text on topics related to continuum mechanics. The chapters on approximation and scale and dimensional analysis are clear, concise and very well motivated from a physical standpoint. The text emphasizes that physical insight and approximation go hand in hand toward the goal of understanding.

It would be very useful to have an occasional digression onto numerical methods, but as it stands the text is a classic. I hope it never goes out of print!

Lim's Poetry Outstanding
This is a very fine collection of poems by Shirley Lim, who is currently teaching at the University of Hong Kong.

She was born in Malaysia to Chinese parents, and has lived in both Asia and America. This blend of cultures and languages has given her a unique understanding of the nature of translation, of roots, of travel, and of culture. These are themes she addresses in her poetry.

Her skill with words is considerable, and no two poems resemble each other. There are many voices, many situations. There is humor, horror, urban paranoia, love, and struggle. I treasure this volume as much for its skillful craft as for its tender stories of Asian women.

Her prose afterword, entitled Tongue and Root, an essay on the subject of translation and the English language, is quite wonderful. Excellent for students of linguistics and translation, or of modern Asian history, but I would think anyone interested in the problems of the Third Culture phenomena would find a lot to like in this book.

An essential part of any library of Asian Women's Studies.

PULP SUPER HERO
ZARKON had been born a million years from now,in a strange and mysterious future world. He represented the ultimate result of a program of genetic engineering conducted by the rulers of his weird world of tomorrow to protect against the extinction of the human race. Superhuman, rather than human,he was the end result of an experiment in selective breeding conducted over thousands of generations to produse a perfect superman. Aided by his OMEGA CREW of five human sidekicks,ZARKON books are a lot like the DOC SAVAGE books only with better spelling and without DOC SAVAGE'S habit of dumping radioactive waste out of his windows so that he can follow radioactive cars or people from outside his office, and gifting cancer to hundreds of passing innocents. This book is set in August 1970,and while it is the first book in the series it is the twelfth case Zarkon has solved since he arrived in the past.
