Need an encouraging book to read? Here it is...
Barbara Johnson's work was new to me so I hesitated before reading God's Most Precious Jewels....there was no reason to hesitate! It wasn't full of preachy or trite messages, but real stories about real women with real problems many of us can relate to in one way or another. It somehow helps, knowing others feel as we do and yet they still keep on going and keep their faith.

By helping others and sharing their love of God and His love for us, these women have made me feel more whole and less incomplete and less alone. I am encouraged by the stories in this book and moved to tears but brought out of the tearful state by the quotes and quips that end each chapter. When I finished reading, I felt stronger and uplifted.

A real page turner! I couldn't put it down!
Jewel Flannery is one of Pinkerton's best operatives: She doesn't give a damn about social norms, but is willing to use every trick in the book, plus all her feminine wiles to get the job done. Unfortunately, her concentration is shot-to-hell ever since she ran into riverboat gambler Brent Connors in her last few 'assignments.'

Brent Connors has seen Jewel with 3 different 'fathers,' in 3 different disguises, in as many months. Even though he thinks she's nothing but a con artist, he finds himself falling for her hard & fast. When her search turns up her real father, a famous jewel thief, she must choose which love is worth fighting for.

From the bottom of my heart....this book is a jewel !
With this book I got started in buddhism about 3 years ago and I must say that it did touch my heart. It explains in a very understandable and pure way how we can get rid of our negativities, overcome the obstacles on our way and live a meaningful human life. Understanding and practicing the Heart Jewel develops our mind in a subtle but very profound way towards more happiness and freedom.

Thrilling and suspenseful!
When John Knight's father accepts a magistrate's job in British-controlled India, John is sure that India is the most exciting place he has ever been! John and his mother meet Amy Carmichael, a missionary who works to save Indian girls from child marriage, or worse fates. When a young girl named Jewel comes to Miss Carmichael pleading for refuge, John and his mother become deeply involved in her life. As magistrate, John's father is forced to uphold the Indian law requiring Jewel to marry her greedy uncle. John is torn between obedience to his father and compassion for Jewel. What he decides to do affects many people. Don't miss out on this book!

So they can be pinched after all!
The Tower of London is now running a special exhibition on Colonel Blood's attempt to steal the jewels way back in 1671. What this book does very cleverly is to take a descendant of Colonel Blood's and give him a brainwave about how to pinch the jewels. Must run in the family! It's an exciting story and I really enjoyed it. It kept my interest all the way through, with a nice surprise ending. The hero is a kind of baddie, but he's a good guy also. Puzzled? You'll have to see for yourself. Bye! Caroline.

Essential reference of the life of hummer, great phots
This is an essential reference on the life of hummingbirds. Over 100 beautiful color photos show many species of these elegant birds eating, resting, & in mid-flight.

The book starts out with the author's personal experiences with hummingbirds. It then explains the birds' history, classification, distribution, & habitat, comparing the various types of hummingbirds. How they fly, what & how they eat, mating rituals & nest building are then detailed. Conservation, migration, tracking, & banding are covered as well. There even a whole section on hummingbird meccas.

Finally, the book gives tips on how to attract the birds. Types of plants that attract hummingbirds are listed for 6 different regions, with both common & Latin names. The bird types native to each region are also given.
