Acquired of the Angels: The Lives and Works of Master Guitar Makers John D'Angelico and James L. D'Aquisto

AQUIRED OF THE ANGELS
Unlike Leo Fender,Orville Gibson or C.F.Martin not much is generally known about these D'Angelico or D'Aquisto even though they are regarded as the greatest archtop builders in history. This book individually traces the lives and guitars of each man and features many rare and beautiful photographs.I found this book to be a fascinating insight into lives and work of two men who could only be described as the true masters of their craft.

Informative and Simplified
I had the opportunity to use this book as a junior at Allegheny College in my seminar on Constitutional Interpretation. The information provided in the book is not only thorough but easy to understand as well. The examples provided for the reader are extremely helpful, illustrating the various forms of interpretation used. I recommend this book for any student of the Constitution, no matter what the age.

Good reference book
This book provides a good summary of methods and techniques that are available for wildlife studies. It is a good starting point for graduate students and researchers who would like to get a broad overview, but for more details on particular types of analysis, other resources are needed. For someone who has never been exposed to population biology, the expansive breadth of the book may be somewhat overwhelming.

Fun to read
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The way that it intermingled history of the time period, geography, strong moral values, and the tale of the quest for gold held my interest throughout the book. It even threw in a few unexpected twists and turns in the high seas adventure.
This book is appropriate for adult readers and young readers alike. It has spurred me to want to read more about history and ocean adventure of the time period.

traumatic brain injury
This book addresses the topic of traumatic brain injury from several viewpoints: the personal experience of the author, case histories of others and their immediate and long term treatment. The legal, moral, ethical and medical aspects of these cases are discussed and the progress made in the 1990s in knowledge, treatment and dissemination of information to the professional community.

Straightforward and readable, it recognizes the needs and considerations of the survivor and the family. The political forces influencing the issue and recognition of traumatic brain injury are considered as well as the financial bearing on rehabilitation and social responsibility. The ethics of quality of life and death is examined and presented to the reader.

The book is altogether thought provoking to anyone interested in the field of traumatic brain injury and propects for recovery.

Clever and Complete Research Design-Brilliant Work!
New to the statistical and methodological side of research in psychology I found this book a little difficult. That said, it was understandable. Clearly, the researchers were "standing on the shoulders of their forefathers" and at the same time engineering a piece of research which will make you (especially you non-psychoanalytics) think twice about the reality of a human unconscious. This validating piece of work will be of interest to advanced psychology and counseling theory students and researchers. One can skim the studies and get the gist of the design, procedures and results.

Non-linear Materials
It is not easy to find a good book about any kind of non-linear phenomena, such as plasticity or viscous-elasticity. I found this book very complete and clear. It has a brief introduction to elasticity and plasticity, followed by the theory of viscous-elastic materials. I gave four stars to it because it is a reprint and not a new book. For this reason some more recent concepts of viscous-elastic materials are not shown, but it steal is an excellent introductory book.

A good all around evolution guide for biologists
This book is a very good book about the evolution controversies. It repeats a lot of information from basic ecology classes. It is for a person who has a firm understanding of basic biology. It is the first book I have read that portrays the different types of evolution. The only time that it speaks about creationism is the last 2 chapters. These last two chapters can be understood by non-biologists, however. It is a good read for the devout biologist, though it is now quite old and out of print.
