Epistemological, religious, and pragmatic matters
The Unity Of William James's Thought by Wesley Cooper (Professor of Philosophy, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada) is a uniquely presented survey and an engaging examination of the philosophical works of eclectic personality and pioneering philosophy of William James. Professor Cooper rejects the commonly held view that James' philosophy was fragmented, countering that there is indeed a logical system and doctrine to be found in James' writings and legacy. Epistemological, religious, and pragmatic matters are analyzed and discussed in this scholarly and persuasively argued treatise. The Unity Of William James's Thought is a welcome and scholarly contribution to History of Philosophy supplemental reading lists and academic reference collections.

Very interesting
I would like to obtain a copy of this book to read. My surname from my father is the only family with that name in Australia. I did not know alot about it untill I contacted this name on the net.
My fathers parents are Catolyn from Barselona and it is possible that I had relatives in the past go to the US.
It is very interesting from that point of view. Could some one please e-mail me and give me some more information on the background of this name, this valley and this book
Yours sincerly

very thorough
This book lays out the theological and political conflicts between Venice and Rome in the late sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century in impressive detail. Bouwsma shows that a historicist understanding of reality on the part of Venetians led to repeated misunderstandings with Rome's authority, predicated on a sense of authority grounded in an unchanging cosmic hierarchy. An extremely important contribution to political and religious history.

Great book!
This is a well-written book. If you are interested in Virginia (and who isn't?), history, and art, you will enjoy the book. The book is perfectly focused on the Virginia landscape, not on teaching art history.

My Great Great Grandfather...Thomas Quinlan would be proud.
My Great Great Grandfather, Private Thomas Quinlan (who is on page 230 of this book)who fought under DeForest with the 12th Connecticut Volunteers, would have been proud of the way in which DeForest's written words immortalize the battles that they fought for future generations to understand just how brutal the Civil War battles were. DeForest describes the battles in such a way that the reader feels that they are there on the battlefield. This book is a "MUST HAVE" for any Civil War library/collection.

Beautiful! Relaxing! Inspiring!
This tape is one of the most beautiful meditation tapes I've every listened to. The two wooden flutes weaving and intertwining in and out are like going back thousands of years to a serene temple, or like sitting on a mountain top and having the beautifully simple yet masterful music waft over you. I feel very relaxed and recharged at the same time! I listen whenever I need a recharge, a re-focus, an energize, or to get my creative juices flowing. Thank you!

one of the classics of all time
what doesn't this book have. action, adventure, excitement, war, it has everything. it's written in an easy to understand language (tho' that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll pick up on the symbolism that golding put into everything). and you definately get a totally different perception of the book as you get older (this is my third reading of it, and each time, i get something different from it). i think this should be required reading and that everyone should own a copy.

A very comprehensive account of a distinguished American.
Simon Flexner portrays William Henry Welch as probably the biggest contributor in helping establish the backbone for medicine / pathology as we know it today. Simon Flexner was a very good friend of Welch's, and this source is one of the best secondary sources available to explore what is basically a patriotic American who helped his country in every single way (including the war) but did not get the fame or credit he deserved because to achieve all that this man had, he could not afford to concentrate on any one topic. This is a book which has enabled me to access what his most intermediate friends described him as, and not only was it a good source, but also an excellent read. If you want to know why American medicine really reached its pinnacle, this book is the answer.

Review of "William J. Fellner"
I like the book, frankly, because of its weight. I don't mean the weight of its ideas and insights. I mean its weight, in ounces. At 145 pages, you'd expect it to be light and it is. Most books today weigh too much.
