A winner and then some
Not only is this an excellent book for certification study, but it is one of the best technical books I've ever read on NT Workstation. I typically buy three or four books on a topic when studying for an exam to avoid wasting time if I get a junk one. In this case, I read only the one and intend to buy only one now for any study topic the fast track is available for.

!!Mucho Grande!!
All needed I to become MCP and start getting benefits. Exam now questions 15 with adaptive format. Know the material here well and you pass first time out.

To the point!
I spent a lot of looking over the coverage of key topics in half-a-dozen Workstation books. This one covered them in as much or more detail than any other. The small size comes from the fact that the non-critical nonsense has been removed, which saves me from having to jump over a dozen pages here and there.

I found the book to be easy to read, easy to understand, and all that it was advertised to be, and then some.

Great Book!
I found this book full of information without drowning it's readers in useless jargon. Some of the content was covered only briefly, but with some hands on learning and this book, passing the test was a breaze!

Look no further!
I always start with reading a MCSE for dummies when I am preparing for an exam. This one is the best so far and after taking the exam I can say that this book is all you need.
I used other materials as well because there were some objectives that I did not have experience with.
I scored 790 and that was more than I expected.

A recommendation for all students of ADS!
As a Microsoft Instructor, I recommend this book to all of my students. It cuts through the fluff and crud that Microsoft usually tacks on to the courses and gets to the meat and potatoes of what Active Directory is all about. Several students have used this besides my class and have blown the test away. Check out the author's exam tips to save yourself some headaches.

Sair Linux/GNU Installation and Configuration Exam Cram (Exam: 3X0-101)

Michael Jang is 2 for 2
Michael Jang is now 2 for 2 in my eyes. First linux+ and now this, both books have been great. I read Toby Maginnis book as well, but this one was much easier reading. Read it in 3 days. It is all quick reading, and down to the point. It gives you the information you need to pass the test the first time. Working with linux part time for 6 months, I passed the test in 15 minutes with a 90%. Keep writing books Michael, i'm looking forward to more in the future.

the best by far
I did the installation and configuration exam once and failed it at 68% without doing any reading but I've been working with linux servers for 6 years now. Then I bought this book and beleive me it's one of the best linux books around even with the fact that it's just an exam cram book. I've learned a lot by reading this book. It's well organized and well written and covers alomst everything that is in the exam. After reading the entire book in 1 week, I did the exam again and passed with 90%!! So if there is 1 book you have to read before doing the exam, it's this book!

Great Book Fulfilled all my expectation
This book covered, almost 100 percent of the subjects I encountered on the test. I did the hour long test in about 30 minutes and passed it with points to spare, using this book as my sole study material. Admittedly I've been doing Unix System Admin for a couple of years, but this is the least UNIX like of all the Linux tests. It focuses mostly on Linux specific components lilo, boot order, disaster recoery etc. This book covered it all. The quiz questions can be a little infuriating (tricky), but you calm down when you realize how much they force you to concentrate on the subject matter. Buy it and study it and you'll pass the test.

Wonderful Resource
If you have been putting off getting your MCSE and am anything like I was, "Next month I will start preparing for my MCSE.". However, I had no place to begin.

This is the place to begin. Buy this book, READ this book, and you WILL have a better knowledge of computer and network basics.

If you are currently working in this field, you'll even understand some of the things you've troubleshooted in the past - it all comes clear.

If your not a computer geek....
I am not the most educated person in the field of computers or networking, but I am not the stupidest either. I build computers on the side and got interested in getting my MCSE. I got this and 3 other books, this book really starts with the basics. If you are getting your MCSE, you will need more than this, however this will definintly prepare you for the acronyms and vocabulary you will find in more advanced books, so that you will know what they are talking about. It is a priceless reference to me and find myself referring back to it time and time again. I have 2 books of the Sybex MCSE titles and they are both very good, I have not rated the other nor will I mention it now because I have not yet finished it. If you want to get your MCSE I recommend this book. It is fast easy reading and barring what it deals with is the most attention grabbing non-fiction book I have ever read.

this is a 10 star book FOR NEWBIES TO NT NETWORKING
I AM A 56 YEAR OLD TRUCK DRIVER WHO DECIDED TO BECOME A MCSE. WHILE TAKING MY CORE COURSES I FOUND MOST ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE WORKED IN THE FIELD AND WAS VERY, VERY LOST.. THANKS TO YOUR BOOK I HAVE FILLED IN MUCH OF THE BLANKS IN BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE. THIS BOOK WAS SUCH A FIND FOR ME..I HAVE GIVEN THIS BOOK TO MY 15 YEAR OLD SON TO READ TO PREPARE HIM FOR A CAREER IN NETWORKING.. WOULD RECCOMEND A CD-ROM/SEARCHABLE DATABASE ADDITION WITH A ENCYCLOPEDIA OF NETWORKING TERMS AND CONCEPTS.. WHAT A GREAT BOOK!

One of the bast study books
The ace it series is very easy to understand and has helped me alot. Good for anyone that knowns how to use the topic but need to learn a little more to pass the test

Great study book
This book is a great study guide for the NT Server exam! I used it to review, and by the time I started taking Trancender exams, I knew almost everything I needed to know.

In the past I've used Exam Cram, MS Readiness Review, TestPrep and Ace-It books, and the Ace-It are always the most helpful. I'd recommend the whole series

Excellent Book!! Would Highly Recommend for Passing the Exam
A great supplement to your studies for this exam. I purchased Mark's book along with Microsoft's self-paced kits and Readiness Review book. Mark's was by far the best! He gets right to the point with just the essentials you need for passing the exam. I plan on purchasing his other book for my next exam - Server in the Enterprise. For this exam in particular, I prefer Mark's book over the Exam Cram series that I felt was too wordy! Good luck to all, with this book you can't go wrong!

thrity frames is worth it
this book shows all of the music videos and each director. it is very detailed and explains the technique of each video too.

Thirty Frames Per Secondthe Visionary Art of the Music Video
The book is great and full of information about almost any director of a music video a person would like to know. It is very colorful and has pictures of familiar music videos. It also inlcudes a biography for each director and mentions their style and techniques.

great design
Beautiful Design by Tolleson out of San Francisco. They do wonderful graphic design work. Check out their book "Wash, Soak, Rinse, Spin: Tolleson Design" for more of their style work. There is nothing better than a book that is designed to match the content. Format, type selection, imagery, is all top notch. I highly recommend just for the design itself.

Few mistakes, but overall, a good book.
I liked the way book is set up, explaining questions as you move along. But I couldn't help but stop and wonder what the author was trying to convey at several points in the book. The difficulty wasn't in the technical info., as much as the grammar and sentencing used in explaining. I may be just spoiled on Alan Carter's and Dave Kinnaman's writing style. -J.S.

In a word - WOW!
This book is layed out unlike any book I have ever seen. They wrote the book by asking questions such as what you would get in the exam, then use the body of the material as the explaination. I was amazed at how quickly I learned IP and how easy it was to pass the exam.

Excellent Review
I passed the TCP/IP exam with a 900 and this book really helped me. It has tons of questions, some of which you will see on the exam, and two full length practice exams at the end of the book. All the questions have detailed explainations. Answering all of these questions really help solidify what you have learned. Spend the 16 bucks!

Exercise Caution
A career in IT (if you want to be successful) requires a great deal of your personal time to study new technologies, or even a new programming language (or even a new version of programming language). I have worked with a lot of entry level IT individuals and the drop-out rate is far more than any other position in our company (retail/distributor). I think I understand why these people are failing and returning to their old careers. That is because they have dreamt of landing the entry-level Administrator, or web developer role from the get go. In the IT community there is a great deal of Mentor/Student relationships in companies. A lot of entry-level people are not willing to take direction from individuals that may be many years younger than them, or they have no college education. The few entry-level individuals that have survived and thrived came into the company with a willing to learn, take direction, and honesty with their expectations. In addition, they studied when they went home and took a REAL personal interest in the details of their job. After a few years on mentoring they were more than ready for administration.

This is a great book with lots of detail
I picked this book up because I've just started my studies in IT and I was curious to know what careers there were in the field. This book gave me a nice overview, and focused my energies. I'm not saying what aspect of IT interests me most. :)
The book discusses five central aspects of IT careers: programming, networking, support, databases, and Internet-related stuff. Further, the book is detailed and describes the different areas of IT in-depth, and gives extensive resources for further reading. I actually read this book in one day. It was captivating.

Five Stars
Excellent guide for career changers -- detailed, informative and well written.

Excellent for review only
I purchased this book solely for the ratings obtained from other readers and because I wanted a quick MCP. I must warn you: For my Networking Essentials test I used two study guides, each with sample questions at the end of each chapter and final sample tests to prepare for the real test. This method helped me pass on my first attempt with 900. For this test I tried taking the short path of cramming this study guide with all the information required to pass the test and it didn't work for me, period. I passed the test with 866 on my second attempt (the first was a 633, passing was 700), and I only passed because I reinforced in 3 days my weak spots using a borrowed Exam Prep study guide (which, by the way I found out later it had terrible reviews). It doesn't mean that this book is not worth it, on the contrary, this book is worth more than its price, but it is only a review book, you can not expect to obtain all the necessary tools for the real test with it (or any guide of this type)only. This book should be a supplement to a formal study guide or NT Administrator's book and you need to test yourself using one of those CD practice tests (like the Exam Prep or Sybex's).

Excellent areas of this book: Test taking hints (specially for scenario questions), sources of information for the test, the "cram card at the end of the book", share and NTFS permissions (excellent), policies and profiles.

Acceptable chapters: Troubleshooting, Users

Weak chapters: Installation (the test requires more detailed knowledge here), Hardware configuration, RAS (the information was there but in an disorganized fashion, I got confused), Netware, It doesn't tell you which objectives are being covered (you don't know where to read to reinforce knowledge on a particular objective area)

To all candidates: Being an MCP requires experience, total mastery of the Microsoft test objectives, a detailed study guide, practice tests and a review (cram) guide. This book is an excellent review (cram) guide only. Out of the possible five stars, one star was taken for claiming to be the only tool for passing (read the back cover of the book section here in Amazon), the other for the weak areas for the real test.

No better study guide available.
This book lives up to all its good reviews. Guarantee yourself a better grade by using it. It is exactly what it says, a "Study Guide". Although you may pass the exam with just this book, I recommend learning the material in a lengthier manner. Either take the instructor-led courses or buy the Microsoft training kits (I bought the kits), and then read this book just before you take the exam, using it as a "Study Guide". I passed the exam by a wide margin on my first attempt.

Concise!
This is a great book. I passed my Workstation test with no problems. This was not my only resource. I do like this book better than Exam Cram because it did not have a lot of filler. It was concise. Most technical authors have problems getting to the point. This book was easy to study with.
