Great Stories
These are great stories, written with crisp clean prose about women, each living in their own sort of limbo, feeling out of place for some reason or another. Tuck is a great writer and each of the stories in this collection is well-written and well-done. Enjoy.

An engaging tale -- very highly recommended
From the parlors of Colonial Williamsburg, three beautiful women, each named for a flower, aid the Patriot cause. Along the way, they shape the course of their own destinies with their courage and wit. As each faces formidable challenges, each wins the man she loves. This is the first novel, LOVING LILY.

Spirited Lily Walters was more concerned with providing for herself and her younger brother than winning a husband, which is how she came to still be single in her early twenties. Necessity brought about a career as a florist, taking advantage of the latest rage in London. Little did Lily suspect how useful her career would be to the Patriot cause. When she realizes her brother Peter has become involved with the Sons of Liberty, Lily determines ways to aid the cause herself. After Adam Pearson arrives in town, and the Patriots begin preparing for war, messages are passed using the specific flowers chosen for her arrangements for the meanings that the different flowers represent. In addition, as Lily moves freely among the Tory's entertainment, she gathers information to aid the cause. Occasional stolen moments with Adam make clear the heated passion between them.

Adam curses his many identities; that which was created to protect him now holds him prisoner. He's met the first woman he's ever wanted to offer anything real of himself, and he cannot. As Squire Adare Sotheby, he hosts and attends various Tory events for the purpose of garnering information. In costume, he's a middle aged, crusty fop -- hardly the kind of man Lily would find attractive. As Adam Pearson, late of Boston and former British, he leads the Patriot movement. In Boston his assignment was to infiltrate the Sons of Liberty movement. When his commanding officer becomes aware he left the colony, Colonel Ware follows him to Virginia.

Corinne Everett creates a masterful tale of subterfuge, danger, and passion in LOVING LILY. With a creative flair, she weaves a plot that moves quickly along, plunging the reader into a dangerous period of history. The characters are warm and engaging, demonstrating Everett to be a master of her craft. Very highly recommended.

Pali Primer

Author: Dr. Lily de Silva
Amazon base price: $7.50
Used price: $89.81
Average review score:

Excellent approach to learning declensions and conjugations.
The book is truly a primer in that it is noticeably devoid of footnotes. It also appears that the author's first language was not English since there is some minor awkwardness. So why give it 5 stars? The author makes language learning fun. (Well at least it's not painful.) If you've ever studied Latin you'll know what I mean. Instead of memorizing declensions and vocabulary the book focuses on learning by reading and writing sentences. A good introduction which should make further study, e.g. Warder, more manageable.

EXQUISITE DISPLAY OF FILIPINO TASTE AND STYLE !
PHILIPPINE HOSPITALITY is quite a revelation, a stunning book on how the Filipinos are as a creative people, not only with their lifestyles, but also in the many interesting occasions that would call for a celebration. This is a festive book and gives a wonderful window of opportunity to showcase Filipino table settings from the traditional to the very sophisticated and modern. The settings tell a story and the themes reflect the many unique traditions of a people and how all of these are religiously followed through the years. The recipe portion is very useful and can be a hit with Filipinos living abroad as these foods are the popular dishes that they would usually miss and would like to try out in their private kitchens. I tried some of the recipes which were quite a success! PHILIPPINE HOSPITALITY is a must for every Filipino living away from home.

A Good Book with A Good Idea
"Rough and Rugged Lily" is the second book I've read where the author points out how secularized Christmas in America has become. ... In "Rough and Rugged Lily" Lily and her family prepare for Christmas...so they think. The last straw comes when Lily and her brothers hand thier extra long Christmas lists and Lily's father overhears Lily and her friends commenting on how they'll get everything they hope for during the holiday season. For Lily, its camping gear so she can go on the Junior Youth Group Camping trip in the mountains, where she hopes to camp and learn about how Jesus and his disciples lived back in the Bible times. But Lily and her brothers are in for a surprise: their parents have different Christmas ideas in mind. First, there will be no tree, no fancy feast, no church candlelight service, no store bought presents. The Robbins family is headed out to an isolated cabin...free of the world, but with stipulations on what every family member can bring. Lily and her brothers are angry at their parents for "ruining" Christmas, and their parents become surprised at how selfish their children have become. But God has other plans for the Robbins family, whose van is run off the road during the worst snowstorm to hit North Carolina in years. The Robbins family ends up stranded in their van until help comes. But the help isn't what they expected: A school gym full of other stranded motorists, hardly any food in the place, and the nastiest person Lily has ever met in her life. Lily and her brother Art befriend a girl named Torie and her sister named Angel. Between the power outages, the lack of Christmas anywhere, the lack of food and so forth, Lily and her family experience a Christmas different from any they have ever known. Lily and her brothers learn a secret about Torie and her mom that causes them to rethink some of their morals. But Christmas for the Robbins family couldn't have been better. I won't tell you if they end up at the cabin or not. This book will offend you at first, leaving you to think that the Robbins family is doing something bad. But throughout the book, Rue explains the story very well, and it is easy to feel what Lily feels thoughout the story. Lily almost seems real, as do everyone else, which is one of the things I like about Nancy Rue's work. ... I higly recommend the two books [this and the companion]together...one for easy reading, the other to explain what Rue is talking about ...

You'll never forget the adventures! by Elena K.
I loved! I think it is a great book. Some parts are funny, some - very sad, but it's always something cool! I love true, real life stories! I especially liked the episodes with Goldy (what a name! I'll call MY dog that) and the scene with Easter Rabbit! The author could show exactly how a child's opinion often is different from an adult view. Since you (readers) haven't read the book yet, try it!

review of pincus and dare, secrets in the family.
I have read this book as a counsellor in training and again as a practicing counsellor on more than one occasion.
It writes tellingly of the weight attached to carrying secrets and of their subversive corrosivenness.
I have reccomended it to many clients who can readily identify with the writers...I find that this helps clients enormously. It has also helped me to understand my clients' issues.
an excellent book
