FACSIMILE VOLUME OF RARE 19TH CENTURY BOTANICAL TREASURES
You don't have to be a connoisseur of lilies to appreciate these beautiful specimens. If you are a horticulturalist or just an art lover, this new book will fascinate you. Gathering all of the plates from Pierre-Joseph Redouté's original eight volumes (published between 1802 and 1816), The Lilies is not just a book about lilies, it's also a foray into the exacting and rare art of botanical illustration.

Redouté is widely considered one of the best botanical illustrators in history. He was not only breathtakingingly skilled at transferring the natural world onto paper, but was also devoted to improving printing technology. Amongst other advances, he introduced "stipple-engraving" to France and refined the technique of single plate color engraving. Redouté's contributions to the art of botanical illustration are unequalled and his original printed work is highly collectible. The complete set of original volumes of The Lilies is currently valued at approximately $400,000.

For considerably less, you can have all of 486 of Redouté's lilies, beautifully reproduced on thick, creamy paper. THE LILIES, the latest in TASCHEN's historically accurate facsimile editions, is a botanical delight.

How strong the words resonates!
This is a translation of the original play for the highly acclaimed John Greysonfs film, gLiliesh, a revenge story realized by the force of the theater. A play in the play reveals Catholic bishopfs long forgotten memory of youth, his repressed homosexual love for a friend, jealousy for the friendfs lover. In the midst of the hostility of villagers the passionate love between two young lovers lead them into a double suicide. And furious young bishop saved only his friend, and testified friendf s murdering his lover that sentenced him of the long imprisonment.

Jealousy, revenge, self sacrifice for the ultimate love, they all are the elements construct an old fashioned romantic play. But the words are so powerful and provide tremendously beautiful images. And the theatrical devices make this play to be a strong work. This is the play where all roles including women are played only by men. This is the tragedy in the form of comedy. This is the theater in theater in theater play, The frame story tells the revenge between old men, main story is the love triangle between young men, the most inner story is the literally romantic play, "The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian" written by Italian author, Gabriele D'Annunzio. M. Bouchard recites lines express severe Christianity of D'Annunziofs play as the sincere confession of gay lovers that signify young lovers to be martyrs of love. And this multi-layered structure and perverted recitation make this play a philosophy of the theater itself.

This play is really a tour de force, and M. Bouchard has revived the romantic drama.

Glorious Genus of Lilies
I really don't see why this book should be out of print ! It's an a-z of one of the most interesting plant families there is. Along with the historical and botanical description of the lilies and related families come beautiful colour prints of the plants mentioned. These were instrumental in hooking me onto the worship of these beautiful plants. To this day, I dream of going to Japan to find a wild specimen of L. brownii..all because of this book! So start up the printing machines, please!

A series you can't miss!
"Lily" is the seventh and last book in the "Seven Brides" series. If you haven't read them all, start with "Rose" and read them in order. Each bride and brother is a gem. ----The ultimate dysfunctional family... Seven Randolph Brother's, each with a unique personality, yet as the eldest, George, would probably say, seven faces of the same man. Beneath their ultra tough exteriors, in the deepest most vulnerable part of their souls, lives the lagacy of a cruel, sadistic father and a weak mother, the fear that they are incapable of loving and unworthy of being loved. Their loyalty to each other (although they may not understand it) shows us otherwise. The "flower women" who wed them win their hearts and heal their souls by loving them just the way they are and in turn the brothers do the same for them. "Lily" is a sweet and very funny story. If you have followed Zac throughout the series from a cheeky six year old to a devilishly charming 24 year old, you can't help but hope he finds love at last. Zac, the youngest Randoph is the most lost soul of all, although he was too young to have the memories of his parents which haunted his older brothers, he feel even less worthy of his family than all the others. His life's goal is even less worthy, he makes his success as the owner of the most successful saloon in San Francisco's Barbary Coast region. He is a gambler and considered to be the most selfish Randolph of all, only thinking about himself. Then into town blows Lily Sterling, a distant cousin of Zac's. Lily, an innocent but spirited minister's daughter is fleeing an arranged marriage........Although the series is at an end it leaves you wanting more. I myself would like to know what kind of father Zac made. Mr. Greenwood gives us romance from a man's prospective, women take heed!

A delightful day for a 2 year old girl
This board book, full of realistic photos of a day in park, was the favorite of my toddler daughter for at least a year! In images that might seem dull to an adult, it charts a trip to the part shared by Lily and her mom, with simple activtites like swings and sandbox to fill Lily's afternoon.

excellent ribute to a great artist
Rather than a straight biography, this excellently compiled volume of writings and photos (many reproduced here for the first time) is an eloquent tribute to a truly great artist who graced the stage of the Metropolitan during the not-too-distant past when "the Met" really did hold the standard of greatness. One very amusing photo taken in Pons' dressing room shows her entertaining a group of young students, one of which is an enthralled Bernie Schwartz (later known as Tony Curtis). Highly recommended.

good read
Lily Robbins unexpectantly gets nominated for Class President when Ashley Adamson, a girl who will stop at no length to humiliate Lily nominates Lily in an effort to seal the victory for one of the popular boys in their class. But to everyone's surprise, even Lily's, Lily wins the election to become the Seventh Grade Class President!
But when Lily and her fellow officers learn that nothing is expected from them except for a yearbook photo, they decide to find some ways to change the school for the better.
Before long, the officers become very popular and well-liked, and they decide to plan a Christmas Party for the whole school. The Principal lets them have the party, provided that they exclude anyone who is failing or of whom has bad citizenship grades.
When Lily and one of her fellow officers catch four of the "popular" people cheating on a big term paper for Geography, Lily learns that they have plans to ruin the party, all because they are no longer invited. While Lily, her friends and her fellow officers are busy concocting a plan to prove their innocence, Lily learns a surprising lesson about Leadership: the difference between a leader whose focus is the world and a Leader whose focus is God.

Another Hard-Hitting read for preteens
"Lily Speaks" is the tenth book in the Lily series. When Ms. Reinhold nominates Lily and her friend Suzy for the County speech contest, an all out war escalates in the Girlz Only Club. Suddenly, the club is split. Lily is once again sure that she will be victorious in the contest. But her parents end up teaching her about a servant's attitude and Lily learns about competition, friendship, and finding God in everything she does.
I highly recommend this book to the audience it was aimed for. Mrs. Rue has done an excellent job with Lily and her world. I find that Lily's experiences are realistic. Even at the age of 19, I can still learn from the adventures of 12-year-old Lily myself. Bravo to you, Nancy, Lily is a real winner! She is better than many other Christian series characters out there, and her books--both the fiction and non-fiction ones are fast-paced products desgined to help Christians and non-Christians alike.

Wow Lilly
Lilly is a great little mouse who loves school, her teacher and as it turns out- sharing. But she has trouble waiting. This is a great book about when kids get angry and the consequences. The pictures are great too! Although I have not read the Spanish version, we are going to have our daughter's teacher read this into a tape recorder so she can hear it from a native speaker.
