great series
I decided to try this series after having heard that my 11-year-old cousin is a big fan--that and I am a big fan of Nancy Rue's. Lily Robbins has just started Middle school. When her english teacher recommends her to the newspaper adviser so that she can work on the school newspaper, Lily is thrilled. But the newspaper turns out to be bad news for Lily because she has less and less time for her friends Reni, Zooey, Kresha and Suzy. Lily comes up with the idea for an "Answer Girl" column. The column becomes a big hit, and Lily begins to think that she can handle any problem that comes her way. A couple of "popular" girls befriend her, and that's when the real trouble starts. Lily finds herself in trouble with her parents and her friends, and she inadvertantly gives a friend some bad advice. Can she help her friend in time?

But consider the span of nearly 100 years for both Bill and Lily, and what a great blend of traditional values and modern day growth and adaptation!

creative theological mystery
After graduating from Cambridge Theological Seminary, Lily Connor becomes an ordained Episcopalian priest. At present she is the interim pastor of Tate University located a few miles from Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts. One day while counseling a student in her office, Samantha Lamb-Henderson walks in and says she want to get reacquainted with Lily. Lily feels the professor has a hidden agenda because when they attended seminary school together they were just acquaintances, not friends.

Lily's suspicions soon prove right when Samantha confides in her. Samantha's assistant, Francine, has been getting photographs in the mail that look like they could be the mythical Q document, the second source document for the Gospels of Luke and Mark. If it is proven to exist and is authenticated it will be the most important religious revelation in over a millennium. However, Lily, Samantha, and Francine are all being followed and it is clear that these individuals want the photographs and will go to any lengths to retrieve them.

Readers will absolutely adore the protagonist who knows that she doesn't have all the answers and at times, her faith, the foundation of her life, can be shook. She is believable as she is willing to go the extra mile to see if the photographs could be the Q source and is even willing to accept the danger that goes along with that mission. Michelle Blake writes a creative theological mystery that will enthrall readers with its insights into the realities of organized religion.

Twists in another case with Perry Mason
This story is an excellent story inline with all the others I've read by Erle Stanly Gardner.

This story like all the others in the Perry Mason series has a series of different twists.

What makes this story so good like all the other ones is that your getting nearly about 3/4s of the way through and you can see that unless something goes drastically wrong for the prosecution then the defendant is going to get the electric chair. But in true Erle Stanley Gardner fashion Perry Mason the defense lawyer pulls the defendant out of the spot that he's in and in doing so he gets his professionalism questioned including accusations of tampering with evidence.

In conclusion This is an excellent book by Erle Stanley Gardner and like others in this series it has the twists and other odd things that happen.

Consider the Lilies
Published in Hardcover by Victor (1986)
Authors: Ian Crichton Smith and Iain C. Smith

Excellent Book -- Not Widely Known in America
Iain Crichton Smith is a Scottish poet, dramatist, and novelist whom I had never heard of until I saw a reference to this book on a Scottish website and ordered it. It is a short work (only 160 pages) and written in a simple style that is highly effective.

The story is about an elderly woman who, at the beginning of the novel, is informed that she is to be removed from her cottage in the Scottish Highlands and resettled along the coast with other villagers. This is the time of the Highland Clearances and the Duke of Sutherland, like other landowners of that period, wants the villages on his land razed so he can more profitably raise sheep. This was a dark time in Scottish history and many of those relocated to the coast died of starvation and illness. Despite the historical context, however, this is not a novel about the Highland Clearances. It is character study of an elderly woman, Mrs. Scott, and how she begins to change over the period of two weeks before the villagers are to be turned out of their homes. Her husband died many years before and her son has immigrated to Canada. Religion is her sole consolation. Her thoughts are the mechanism that move the story forward--flashbacks to the past and considerations of the present. The imagery is often beautiful. I don't want to say too much about what is uncovered through this device or it might ruin the story for you. It is a compelling read, though. I started the book at 10 p.m. on a week day, thinking I would read the first chapter or two before bed, and read through chapter 8. I regretfully stopped because I got too sleepy to continue. I finished it the next day. I plan to read more of Crichton Smith's work. This is a beautiful book that should be better known here.

Consider the Lilies
Since I am a dog show person, and an animal lover I found the stories to be humorous, I've been there trying to get that perfect picture. Watching the silly things are furry friends do endear them to us. And of course, Sterling Silver, she was a wonderful dog and the best thing is that I still see her in all her grand children and great grand children...etc. and the Parade always brings back the past and you remember when these dogs were in their prime and how many wonderful memories come flooding back into your heart. It was lighthearted and touching and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for preserving these memories.

LILY INDEED
I WISH I HAD KNOWN THE LILY IN THIS BOOK THAT THE AUTHOR REFERS TO, FOR SHE SEEMS A RATHER INTERESTING, WORTHWHILE, WHOLESOME AND TRULY COMMITTED PERSON WHO HAS VALUES AND IS UNSWAYED BY MR. ATKINS' ATTEMPTS AT HER AFFECTION. I SAY PEOPLE SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK BECAUSE THE NON-FICTION EVENTS IN IT ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE AUTHOR'S YOUTHFUL DAYS OF EXUBERANCE.

A Must for anyone desiring to write Arabic Script!
This book has helped me tremendously. Anyone who finds the Arabic script as beautiful as I do will want to have this book to make sure that you really know what you are writing. The illustrations are large. There are practices that you can do daily to help you not only write correctly, but learn sounds and words. I am thrilled! MP
