A New Old Whodunit
The Willow King mysteries of Natasha Cooper are of an old style that had been modernized. There is little explicit violence; all sex is tasteful, but the plots and characterization is modern. I was reminded somewhat of P.D. James.

Willow King leads a double life -- bureaucrat in a fictional British government bureau -- Department of Old Age Pensions and as a writer of romance novels. This twist of personalities helps to make the story interesting.

The characterizations and the evoking of a keen sense of place were highlights for me. The actual plot, though interesting, is not particularly unusual, although there was a very interesting twist in the end that I should have seen coming, but didn't.

Great book for families especially after a tragedy
This young lady tells the story of surviving a house fire and the rebuilding that takes place afterword. Most people often forget about the long healing process after a tragic incident.

We feature this book in our library reading program where firefighters read to children at the library. It is a must-read book to both parents and children. It truly drives home the consequences of fire.

Excellent!
I thought this book was an excellent book myself. I recently have felt God was telling me something about someone, and well this has just really helped me through the whole thing. I respect what the authors wrote, and I recommend it to teens, college students, and people who are considering dating. thanks.

Himalayan cobra-lilies (Arisaema) : their botany and culture

Very Informative
I read this book a little while ago after becoming interested in Arisaema. The book explains about the past cultivation of these bulbs in their native area. It then describes the hardiness of the bulbs and the best places suited to growing the different varieties. There are tips on propogation also. The best bit of the book are the photographs of these wonderful plants. A must for anyone who has an interest in these bulbs.

The Compelling Human Face of Systematic Destruction
This account of the ordered destruction of a Jewish community takes dry statistics and puts real faces and names on people that could have been grandparents and relatives. The hardest part to comprehend is that the murders were carried out by former neighbors and friends, not the Germans. Originally read for family history research, but after finding stories and faces of what once were just names on a genealogical chart, has personalized the Holocaust as never before experienced. This book is an honor to the memory of those who perished and a testimony to those who survived under unbelieveable odds and to now have the courage to tell this story. A must read to understand what went on outside of the walls of the concentration camps throughout Europe.

Fascinating lore and charming style make great browsing!
'Ladybugs, Tiger Lilies' was not meant to be a comprehensive book. The tales of how plants got their names sometimes read like 'How the Leopard Got Its Spots' -- but Hendrickson's accounts are concise and punchy. The book can be used as a reference for the probable origin of many names, or as a splendid book to browse for any gardener or plant enthusiast. It is full of trivia of the most charming kind

Answers every question a lily grower can ask. Illustrations.
For simply growing a new bulb, for expanding your collection, for propogation, this book covers it all. I had no knowledge at all and with this book I have grown new bulbs from scaling purchased bulbs and have even begun to cross my own seedlings. It is a very good source of information.

FASCINATING!
I really enjoyed this book not only for the very sweet love story but the history. I never gave much thought to guns or gunpowder in Europe in that time period. Only thought the Chinese were so clever and of course she gave all the credit to a wonderful Chinese man who was worked in as a by blow of a king. Also gave more of a different view of King Henry the warrior. Really did enjoy the entire story and of course anything she writes is historically fascinating.

Charming and Sweet
What a charming couple Julian and Lily made. Lily with her love of all God's creatures proved to be the balm that Julian's bitter heart needed. I loved all the "cats" in this story, especially Sebastian! The various scrappy individuals (both human and animal!) met during this story were delightfully portrayed! The tenderness that Julian showed in caring for his grown nephew Peter was wonderful. It does not often show up in Regencies, where we expect our hero to be a ruthless rogue. Julian, who thinks he is rather a rake, turns out to be a lion that lies with the lamb.

A bit of fluffy reading for a delightful couple of hours.

Touch the Jpanese girl's original heartstrings !
This story tells you how typicall old time Japanese girl's psychology worked. Nowadays ( especially after WWII ) Japanese ladies are not so coward than those in old age. Maybe some of you who know Japanese women living in U.S. will be astonished and regard this story as nonsence, but we have to know its original figure through this story..... It tells you one of its real origin and you'll be able to see in rural Japan even today.
