Lilies Amonst Thorns
This is undoubtedly one of the most amazing books that I have ever read. Theses Christians display the wonderful power and love of God in overcoming "by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, because they loved not their lives unto death". We American believers would benefit greatly from reading it and other books like it,

Lilies Amongst Thorns
This book has helped me have a deeper commitment to God as it describes how Christians in China gave their lives, suffered excruciatingly, and allowed God to work marvelous miracles through their lives for the furtherance of the Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Great book for those that have cooled off in their fervency for God.

I believe it is a must read for every christian.
I consider this a book that is transforming. It leaves you with an awe inspiring knowledge of God and to know Him in a very deep way. This book will change you.

One of my favorite books.
This book was so good, I waited a few months and read it all over again. Originally I borrowed it from the library, but after I read it I had to go out and buy it. It's simply the kind of book you can't put down.

FIELDS IS A TALENTED AUTHOR TO SAY THE LEAST
Jennie Fields is the author of one of my favorite books, Crossing Brooklyn Ferry. As soon as I finished that book, I checked to see if she had written anything else and came upon this title. The jacket cover didn't exactly scream for me to read this book as it describes "how it takes place in the '60's and Lily has discovered that sex is a Pandora's box" but I wanted to see if Fields was a one-book wonder or if I had truly found another author that I would loyally follow.

From the first page until the last, I loved everything about this book. Fields' portrayal of Lily as a brooding, gifted, Bohemian artist draws the reader into her life where women are not her friends but men are unexplicably drawn to her. It follows Lily's life through her marriage, motherhood and what finally frees her from the secrets she has lived with. All the characters in this book are richly depicted. You will fall in love with Lily Beach and root for her to find that place within herself where she can find happiness. Jennie Fields is definitely the author to take you there. I can't wait for her to come out with another book.

Compelling, deep, addictive love story
Lily Beach is a novel that has something for everyone. It is a book with a truly great story. If you enjoy romance novels this book is one of the best. The story draws you in to the point where you miss the characters when you put it down. You feel yourself becoming Lily, feeling her joy and pain. When the book if finally over it is as though you are saying goodbye to a friend. It is a perfect mix of love, action, romance. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading- love stories or otherwise. It is a compelling, addictive novel. You feel yourself wrapped up in the characters, the setting, the life of the story. You will find yourself thinking about it even after you have finished reading it

Lily Cigar is a wonderful heroine
I must say that I usually read my books more than one time, but this one I have had for years and read quite a lot. No matter that I know what happens at the end, it is a compelling read; a love story and success story about a young child who grew up poor and alone then became the most notorious woman in the west and most successful businesswoman.

Lily Malone is such a great character and her adventures in untamed San Francisco will endear her to you. I highly recommend this book.

Saga of improvished girl who makes it !!!
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is the story of Lily, a poor orphant girl from Ireland who comes to San Francisco with her illegimate baby daughter. She has no work and has to become a whore in order to support herself. A grim beginning. However Lily keeps her integrity and makes good. How she rises to become; first the most famous whore in San Francisco; then a successful farmer; then wife of one of the most successful businessmen in the West is the meat of the matter. Her past comes to haunt her at every turn but she holds on. I admire grit, the courage to rise above circumstances and the book is filled with it. A most inspiring story.

Absolutely The best book I have ever read!!!!!!!
This book has more depth in 10 pages than most have in 100. It is not just any novel. it shows a real human, with real emotions. She has the same insecurities we all have. But she does not let her insecurities beat her. Lily malone is as real as it gets. When you finish this book, you know you have been there...The era,the time, the people are all so real...It is truly awesome.

A Compelling Read
Annie Dawid's thought provoking new book, Lily in the Desert, draws the reader in until the very last page.
Often with a book of short stories there are some stories that a reader prefers over others. Every story in this book has its own unique personality just as the characters do. Each story almost demands that the reader care about the characters and makes it difficult to choose a favorite.
This book is a compelling read.

Literary Oasis
Annie Dawid's characters are like people you meet on a plane, get to know well in an hour, and never forget. She writes across the gender and the gay-straight barriers that hamper lesser imaginations. She writes about Jewish and American cultural history and identity with an ease that masks decades of thoughtful study. "Lily In The Desert" is a generous and delightful gift to the world.

A satisfying journey you don't want to end
Lily in the Desert takes you to places you want to go. Annie Dawid's touching and poignant book of short stories allows you to travel in the shoes of many sorts...people who are struggling and striving, connecting and disconnected. I loved this book.

"Snow Blossoms" was particularly moving and the last story, "The Settlement" is a masterpiece. I am recommending Lily in the Desert to anyone and everyone.

A must have for anyone into Wicca
No words can explain how great this is! This is not only for Teens, but Adults too. I'm 25 and carry this around with me everywhere, and it is very helpful. I like how it includes short spells, the moon phases, and it tells what planet is moving in. Plus there is lots of room to write things down.

Everything any teen Pagan should need
This datebook has everything! I just got this three weeks ago, and it's been helping me keep up with everything with it's daily correspondence guide. It also has moon phases, astrology, and many other great things. There's room to write down everything. I would recommend this to any teen witch.

A Must For Every Busy Witch
I just got this the other day and it is a must-have for every busy teen witch. Part almanac, part calendar, there's plenty of space to write every day's commitments and also, daily correspondances, moon phases and signs, useful articles from fellow pagans (including Ray Buckland), spells, and more. There's not a teen witch who wouldn't benefit from this.

Done it and loved it
I'm in an arts/high school program, PCCA. I came in after all of the other students had already been there for over a year. This was the first piece I ever performed there. I did a section of it where Trudy is Trudy, in the beginning.

The character was so rich. So many different quirks. The audience loved it, so did the other performers who did the same piece. This is one funny script.

I wasn't nervous when i performed it at all. I just kept thinking how funny the script was, and that, not matter how terrible the acting, the audience would still enjoy the performing.

This book/script is ....... there are no words!!!
This one woman plays many characters, and will take you on a journey of laughter, and much more, and leave you smiling for long after you put it down...

Putting reality on a back burner
As she tries to explain human beings to extraterrestrials who are searching for signs of intelligent life in the universe, Trudy, the bag lady, channels among others: Agnus Angst, a throwaway teenage punk; Chrissy, an unemployed young woman who doesn't know what to do with herself; Kate -- a rich socialite bored with everything. It's a tough job, but Trudy is up to it -- she refuses to be intimidated by reality.

Wagner weaves together the stories of these separate lives with speculations about time, space, reality, art, and human nature. From Trudy's skewed perspective a vision forms of the interconnectedness of human life -- maybe of all intelligent life in the universe. Filled with laugh-out-loud one-liners and characters whose words and feelings ring true, this one-woman play is masterful writing from a deep and generous heart. If you didn't see Lily Tomlin's performance on Broadway, don't miss reading the book. It's more than a story; it's an experience.

A book of inspiration and hope...
I am 37 years old, and this story has remained in my memory all these years...ever since I first saw the movie and read the book--over and over again until it just simply fell apart from use. I drew a great deal of mental and spiritual strength and inspiration from the main character, Mary Call, over the years; especially during those crucial years of my youth when I needed someone to look up to who represented these things in the most positive ways possible.

Where the Lilies Bloom By Vera and Bill Cleaver
Dear students that have read this book,First i would like to tell all those students that have read this book to encourage others in your school or neighborhood to read this book. This was an excellent book. I got hooked on this book because of our wonderful English/ Composition teacher Mrs. Kelly chose this book to read as a whole class. Either that we had to read it at home. Either way it was totally fun. At first I thought this was going to be just one of those books that I don't enjoy. But as I got further into the book I got more and more hooked on it. Whether it was on old Joshua where her father wanted to be buried. As you go along you read more and more about Mary Call and her friends. One problem in the story. mary call's father has died and no one knows about it. Later on people start getting suspicious. They wonder why they haven't seen Mary call's dad in a long time. I could carry on forever about this book but one thing I hate to do is spoil a great book for other people. If have read this book please don't spoil it for others cause'that's no fun. And if you have to blurt it out I'm sure you could wait. I hope that Mrs. Kelly gives us more exciting books like these. One book that I would recommend is the Pearl. I don't know the Author but I heard it was a great book from my parents, Friends, and Brothers and Sisters. But hey how would I know I haven't even read the book.Gotta go,Jesse Thomas

Why u should enjoy this book
Dear students reading this looking at this review. If there was any book that i would recommend, I would recommend Where the Lilies Bloom by vera and Bill Cleaver. It is an outstanding book. In this book Mary call has to face that her father died. If I were the next siske. I would rate it 5 stars. It is very exciting. To learn more about this book please read it. I wouldn't want to ruin ur fun.gotta go

Couldn't put it down!
I really loved this book, and have read it more than once. I had not read the previous book, but it did not make any difference to me. It was so pleasant to read; and I couldn't put it down. My husband would come in and ask, "Haven't you got that lily grown yet???" Later I read the first book, and also the sequel to this one; but this was my favorite of the three.

Very Good but a little slow in the beginning
The book is very well written and caught my attention, after the first little bit. The reason I beleive it was slow at first is because it is a sequel, and since I didn't read the first book, I didn't understand what was going on. Otherwise, very good and worthwhile to read.

this book is back in print
Please note that this book is now back in print, published in 2002 by The Lyons Press, with a new cover.

Great book - lots of detail - Natural Horsemanship
This book presents the classical foundation of dressage from France. I was quite surprised to find that everything covered here has been covered by my "Natural Horsemanship" trainer. There is a whole chapter about flexions. He stresses a relaxed horse and reminds us that the classical movements can not be done correctly without pure relaxation. I loved the book! It was incredibly motivating.
