An essential resource of French Culinary Techniques!
This cookbook, along with its excellent photography, demystifies french cookery techniques. The photography compliments each step involved in creating these fabulous recipes. It leaves no room for error from the kitchen to the dining table.

An excellent resource of French culinary techniques for all!
Le Cordon Bleu Classic French Cookbook is excellent in its content and presentation. The beautiful photography details the cookery techniques essential to the success of French cuisine. The recipes' format is complete and international in appeal. I like the use of both US and metric measurements. The side text offer interesting historical insights into each recipe. I have had the previlege of studying cooking as a hobby with renowned teachers at prestigious cooking schools in both New York City and Mexico. As I have a predilection for cooking and love entertaining at home, I am always looking for new opportunities to increase my knowledge and expertise in the kitchen. This cookbook will transport any reader right into the "classroom" of the prestigious cooking school of Le Cordon Bleu.

A Cobtown Christmas
A great granddaughter discovers a family diary from 1845. The story of a special Christmas in Cobtown unfolds. Art is a cartoon-like character with excellent illustrations in lively colors. A great read - includes receipes for dog soup! I highly recommend this family type, holiday book for students from K through 5 grades.

An instant classic
The Van Nutts bring us instantly back to a lost era full of magic. Somehow they have mastered the art of historical accuracy without boredom or cheesiness- something so few artists can do. The drawings have all the skill of Van Allsburg but more warmth and depth for their genuineness, while the text makes you long to search through your grandmother's closet in search of hidden treasures. It's an instant classic and a must-have for someone who takes kid's books seriously.

Excellent primer for those adopting greyhounds.
I purchased this book on the recommendation of the Long Island Greyhound Transfer association. I then adopted a beautiful dog. The book is both precise and accurate as to what to expect of a newly adopted dog. I believe it is must reading for anyone interested in a greyhound.

A very "complete" book of Greyhounds indeed!
Very comprehensive and complete book about almost all aspects of greyhounds from ancient history to Ballyregan Bob the British racing champion, from Ch. Treetops Hawk the show champion to Cynthia Branigan the adopter of retired racer. Racing, coursing, AKC (show) greyhounds are all discussed in detail. The best things of all: most chapters are written by experts in their respective fields. For me, the generously loaded pictures including 16 pages of color plates are irresistible.

Exciting!!
This was the first book I have read by Grice. I took it everywhere so I could finish reading it. Well written and wonderful warm ending.

I love Julia Grice!
As always, Julia Grice kept me up late reading and I lost a lot of sleep because I couldn't put the book down until I had finished it. Julia keeps the suspense moving and once I started the book I was hooked. I have read several of her other mysteries and find that she always gives you a very fast moving story. Loved it!

A beautifully scripted narrative of our mutual history.
Julia Schueler seemed to float through history. Her view of the world's progression is everything it should be, funny, emotional and honest. This is a wonderful book.

A must-read for history buffs who prefer the personal story.
Julia Schueler's autobiographical book remembers the story of a girl who always lives elsewhere - Russia, Germany, France, America. . . She interlaces the past with the present - often within the same page. She describes people's lives, hopes, fears during the 1930's and 1940's during World War II (we Americans tend to think Hitler's terror began with Pearl Harbor). She does not paint with a broad brush - the details are exquisite.

Unlike most monolingual English speaking Americans, Julia's world was/is peopled with many languages, many cultures. Her style of writing is unique and made me want to taste each word, each phrase, each story - and often I reread. Some books make the reader sad to see that there are fewer and fewer pages left to be read. "Elsewhere: A Memoir" is one of those books. -Diana DeMille

Only With My Sisters
I believe we can all relate to sitting or lying around, talking, eating and discussing life with our sister-friends. Sometimes discussions lead to topics some would consider off-limits, but not these sisters! I could actually visualize the scene-preparing the food, inhaling the aroma, anticipating the taste, lounging with shoes off, feet tucked, sleeves rolled, drink in hand and everyone talking simultaneously, as I have been there and done that!

Each of the women portrayed has a voice as they navigate through their conversations on sex, self-esteem, maintaining relationships, breakups, hopes and dreams for their children and the all too familiar one of the comparison of their lives as women to the lives of their mothers. Each women portrayed in this book is different from the other but they maintain a friendship that is supportive, spiritual, loving and downright fun.

Embracing the Fire by Julia Boyd is an excellent, sassy, fast paced and thought provoking sister-friend book where life and truth are revealed. The topics will definitely lead to a lively discussion amongst any group of true friends.

Fun, laughs and hometruths from black sisters to all sisters
Girlfriend is back!
Julia A. Boyd, author of IN THE COMPANY OF MY SISTERS, has returned with her sisters for a more focused and raucous discussion of African-American female sexuality and love relationships. Pull up a chair and break out the Haagen-Daas and prepare to laugh, cry "No she didn't...", and talk the ears off your best girlfriend when you put down EMBRACING THE FIRE: SISTERS TALK ABOUT SEX AND RELATIONSHIPS.

In a comfortable, honest, and sometime pedantic voice, Boyd talks about her own relationships and the baggage women and men carry with them from relationship to relationship. However, whenever she begins to sound too much like a therapist, her sister friends wade-in to bring the discussion back to roundtable-free-for-all of opinion, life experience, and just plain silliness. The sister circle provokes thought, disagreement, concensus, and good fun.

EMBRACING THE FIRE is for all women who have grown up with the idea of good woman and bad women and are trying to live lives that break through those and other stereotypes. Often in a lighthearted way, Boyd writes about some serious relationship and self-image issues among women of color. But the issues talked about are for sisters of any color who are into laughs, love, and self-reflection.

Eve's Striptease (Pitt Poetry Series (Cloth))
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Pittsburgh Pr (Txt) (1998)
Author: Julia Kasdorf
Amazon base price: $25.00

Moving
This is a wonderful book of poetry that inspires much reflection. Each poem somehow transforms itself into a fragment of my own life's story. The body becomes a main element of Kasdorf's work; religion is also a strong theme, addressing the bubble that tradition can form around believers.

beautiful and disturbing
This collection of poems explores, almost painfully, issues of sexuality and religion. Kasdorf has captured the experience of woman who have grown up, and asserted their person-hood in a world where they are viewed as sexual objects; and where the church has rarely been a help, and often a hinderance. Not for the faint -hearted or those looking for 'inspriational poetry' this collection of poems speakes deeply to me as a woman, and as someone who is strongly religious.

A Girlfriends Guide to just about everything!
Girlfriends Unite! This book is packed with information on how to make each part of your life extraordinary. I recommend this book for married women, who can then disregard the dating chapter and living together references. I also found some very interesting information on pregnancy and related issues. An entire chapter is devoted to depression, aging and stress. There is information here you just won't find anywhere else. I advise overlooking the things which might offend a more sensitive soul, because there is so much more that you will enjoy reading about. You will also learn how to communicate more effectively with your partner. This is definitely not a book you leave around the house for kids to find. There are also some things men just would not enjoy reading about. We have to keep some secrets. Trust me honey!

Extaordinary reading
This book is full of so much information that really helps. Relationships, communication & self help. It is a page turner. The authors have put in alot of research and the fact segments on the pages are intresting. I recomend this book to any one that is have communication problems with their mate. It is bound to bring a relationship closer together. I recommend that you read this book with your mate. It will put the spice back in your love life.

Fi and her family amke a stop at Chicagoso her mom can play at a club. This club once housed the victims of acapsized boat. Fi, as usual, goes and looks for the thing that ishaunting the club. What she finds is scary.

More people should read this book.
I found this book to be very well researched, and thorough. I believe that his contains new information that is helpful to helping both victims and offenders. It is a shame that more people in positions that deal with victims or offenders have not read this book.

Female Sex Offenders
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I feel that this is a well written and very well researched book. It shows a lot of insight into a very newly researched field of psychology as well as a practical approach for helping professionals to aid and understand the victums.
