This is a warm tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
The author takes one through the marriage and the divorce of Diana's parents. One is also taken through Diana's life - her childhood, her education, her work, her style, her role as wife and mother, her role in the various charities, and her untimely death.

One does not realize the horrendous effect that the divorce of Diana's parents had on her life until it is too late. For the most part Diana had led a secluded and sedate life until her courtship with Prince Charles. Her education was traditional according to her aristocratic status.

Her engagement to the future King of England was announced when she was only ninteen years of age; however, she was twenty when she married. At the first glimpse of Diana, not only photograpers but the world fell in love with Lady Diana Spencer. Diana was a role-model in many areas; although, she was underestimated by the Royal Family and was not appreciated by them as she should have been. She was the first Royal who showed a genuine interest in matters which had been considered unsuitable for a Royal.

When one considers Diana's all too brief and tragic life, one comes to realize that she did succeed in everything she ever did with one exception and that was her own divorce which was her greatest disappointment. Her husband had always been extrememly parsimonious and stubborn and became more indifferent after the birth of their second son, Prince Harry.

Diana, Princess of Wales, was perhaps the most caring and the most photographed princess in the world. One AIDS patient told her, 'One handshake from you is worth a million words from us.'

All photographs are in color and there are several which I had never seen before. She is photograghed playing the piano for Czechoslovak orphans at Prague Castle during an official tour in May, 1991.

This is an outstanding tribute to a princess who was loved the world over, who brought new warmth and life to the Royal Family, who loved her sons with visible devotion, and who reached out to touch the unfortunate with an unforgettable kindness. As her photographs indicate, she had a beauty which was breathtaking.

Ms. Delano's tribute ends with the funeral service of Diana, Princes of Wales. She also includes the full text of Diana's brother, Earl Spencer's, eulogy and the lyrics of Elton John's song, "Candle in the Wind."

This refers to the hardcover edition consisting of 96 pages and is a must for anyone who like to read about Diana, Princess of Wales.

Fabulous
If you love photography and love portraiture, you have to see this book. Mike Disfarmer sees his subjects as nobody has seen them before. If Avedon had a photo studio in Herber Springs, Arkansas, his photographs may have only looked half as interesting.

Astonishing
The photographs in this book are as fresh today as on the day they were taken.

The photographer, Disfarmer, woke up one day with complete amnesia. Everyone around him were farmers, so he changed his name to Disfarmer to disassociate himself from his surroundings. And yet he never left his home town. His photographic chronical of the life around him is all the more astonishing considering his disconnectedness.

Anyone with an interest in portrait photography will find something unusual in these photographs.

This book is a great combination of history and adventure.
Too often children (even grownups) think of history as dull, so it is a pleasure to find a book like Dreams of Ships... that not only gives a powerful glimpse into our country's history but does it in an exciting way. I recently read this book with my 8 year old son, and both of us found it hard to put down. The story takes place during the Civil War. A young naval engineer is called upon to help with the development of the the North's first ironclad ship. This ship is vital to the Union's defense because the Confederacy already has such a ship - a ship that is causing a great deal of damage. Ms Sappey has a wonderful way of bringing the past alive.

A+
Extremely well written with all the relevant topics, Dreamweaver 4 (Inside Macromedia Series) is useful for beginners as well as experienced users that want to sharpen certain skills or learn new program features.

Some technical authors know the content matter, but are not able to instruct well. They may skip important information or steps and leave you hanging or figuring out instructional errors. For anyone that has suffered through less than perfect technical writing, Dreamweaver 4 (Inside Macromedia Series) is a welcome change.

It's clear that being written by experienced Dreamweaver developers with advanced degrees in Education gives this book its leading edge. The book is concise, well-organized and effective. It addresses different learning styles and techniques and is full of technical and web publishing tips that may take years to acquire on your own.

If you want to learn (or learn more) Dreamweaver, I recommend this book.

Do you want to understand why kids take drugs?
I am studying a Masters Degree and have read this book as part of my research. I am now ordering it because I want my own copy. Though this book is academic in its structure, I found it a thoroughly enjoyable and insightful read. The world of drug taking and adolescents is filled with mythology and fear. For so many parents the ultimate fear is to find out that your child is taking drugs. Reading this book will provide a deeper understanding of this adolescent behavior. It does not discount the risks or discard the validity of parental fear, but rather provides a broad and realistic insight into the young people who take drugs as part of their social world.

Egypt and the Holy Land in Historic Photographs: Seventy-Seven Views (Dover Photography Collections)

Photographs of a lost world
If the Egypt and holy land of the 19th century explorers interest you - or if you love David Roberts prints of Egypt and want to see what the temples look like from an objective view, then this book is for you. The photos presented here were taken by Francis Firth a Derbyshire photographer who travelled to Egypt and the middle east a number of times in the 1850's and 60's and recorded what he saw with these fantastic photographs.

The photos are all clear, beautiful shots, like the best of 19th century photography. You get to see views like The Pyramids of Giza and Dahshur, the temples of Dendera, Karnak, Luxor, Thebes and Edfu all buried in sand or in their "original" ruined 19th century state. In addition to the wonderful parade of Egyptian photos there are also scenes from Jerusalem, Gaza, the dead sea and Baalbek in Lebanon.

This is a wonderful book that takes you on a visual trip to the past. Recommended for anyone interested in Egypt or 19th century photography.

Irish editor comments on her 'discovery'
I am the original commissioning editor of Lucinda Jacob's "toddler trilogy". Emma's Hat was first. I literally stumbled across Lucinda's diminutive hand bound cut and paste "dummy" in the slush pile. I was so taken with this little book and the perfect pitch of Lucinda's voice for the intended age group (few people were writing for the toddler market in Ireland at that time), that I picked up the phone and rang her straight away. Lucinda's writing "sang."

The original three books were loosely based on Lucinda's own children, the original Emma and Julia. Indeed, all her books bear a marked resemblance to her own family life which appears enviably comforting and cosy!

Lucinda desperately wanted to illustrate her own books, and we encouraged her all the way. The end result is very different from her original dummy. The nice thing about working in Ireland is that we had the time to "develop" new talent such as Lucinda Jacob.

Lucinda produced Emma's Hat, Emma and Julia in the Kitchen and Julia in the Garden in succession. The dual language English/Irish format was unique. No one had published anything like them before. They were instant hits and Lucinda went on to write and illustrate her second trilogy, Molly is a Good Dog, Lily and Ted and Good Morning to great acclaim.

As a writer Lucinda Jacob can be compared to the best writing for toddlers. Her books have the cosy clever feel of Shirley Hughes or Jan Ormerod. In short, you want to move into them!

Lucinda is now a respected writer/illustrator in Ireland, one of the few who do both. She is a favourite in schools and libraries.
