Rate this 3D Pop-Up Book #1 on your list!!
Definitely one of the best 3D Pop-Up books I've run across in a long time! I just purchased an armful of them for gifts. Wow! Not only is John Garrity a fab writer for Sports Illustrated, but he certainly has a knack for this 3D thing... I wonder how I missed this when it first came out.

A collectors item from 2 perspectives: Golf & Paper Art.
Look out, FOUR! Aficionados of that game of games, Golf, and the ultimate in Paper Art, pop-up books, will be struck with this delightful collectors item from John Garrity. It details, with great text and illustrations, a large slice of golfing history and the reader is hooked into participating in the book from T off to final putt down. Enlightening pop-ups, and there are 6 major and 10 minor spreads, go a fairway towards depicting the games origin, development and future possibilities. It chips away at the notion that golf is only for the rich and drives one to the inescapable conclusion that it truly is a wonderful game. A must for collectors, the green fields approach and no rough edges, allows one to have a ball displaying ones newly acquired knowledge. Mark this one on your card!

Inside AutoCad 12 For DOS ISBN 1562050559
While a co-worker was spending hundreds of dollars to
learn AutoCad at the local collage, I learned as much at
the same pace at home with this fine book. It should be sub-titled as a tutorial. The book begins assuming you know nothing about AutoCad,
and carefully explains in a straight-forward method all you need to know. Everything is done in sequence so each excercise teaches
new commands to be used in following drawings. It is a great primer
for new users learning 2-D basics, and I have shared it with experienced users at work as a reference manual for 2-D
and 3-D drawings. The book comes with a disk with programs
to help you learn which was a real time-saver for me. I would recommend this book to all beginning and professional
AutoCad users. I have other titles from The New Riders Publishing Company, and they have all been a very good investment.

Legend of the Christmas Tree Board Book, The

Good Choice for Classroom Reading Guest
I purchased this book for two reasons. It brings to light the true meaning of Christmas...Jesus and sharing love. This story provides another format to talk about the birth of Christ to your children aside from the traditional manger story. There's a light introduction to the biblical significance of Christmas, in addition to the treasure of family unity. I found that this book helps reinforce the values which I am trying to emphasize in my own family, while also cherrishing old time family traditions. In case you were concerned, I don't think it dilutes the truth of the bible...Also, as a mother of two young elementary school-aged children, I also have the opportunity to be a guest reader in the classroom. It is totally appropriate reading for public schools, even though there is biblical reference. This book offers a refreshing change from the fantasy holiday stories and commercialization of Christmas. It will be a special story to your family and it will set a warm-hearted atmosphere to your tree-decorating festivities.

Every page spread has charming text
Rick Osborne's The Legend Of The Christmas Tree: The Inspirational Story Of A Treasured Tradition is a delightful kids' book, for which every page spread has charming text on the left and a full-color, realistically painted illustration by Bill dodge of a family celebrating the joy of Christmas on the right. The story is about the legend behind the tradition of searching for a Christmas tree, which dates back to the Reformation: when Martin Luther brought a tree into his house, he set candles on it to celebrate Jesus, the Light of the World. The Legend Of The Christmas Tree is in many ways about the need to make Jesus Christ a larger part of Christmas. Since the Biblical foundations of Christmas are often forgotten in the hustle and bustle of rampant consumerism that marks the season, The Legend Of The Christmas Tree is a very good introduction for young Christian readers to the holiday's origin. Also very highly recommended are the other fine books in this educational series: The Legend Of The Candy Cane (0310212472, $14.99), The Legend Of The Easter Egg (0310224470, $14.99), and The Legend Of The Valentine (0310700396, $14.99).

Star Wars Masters Of Teras Kasi is the best!
Star Wars Masters Of Teras Kasi is the only 3d fighting game to own! It has everything you need! Trust me on this one, if you are unsure whether or not to buy this game then, PURCHASE IT! It is the best of the best of 3d fighting games! It is not lame as though Mortal Kombat is because of the so many a year but Masters is one that you'll never get tired of! If you're a true Star Wars Fan, then you need to own this game because if you don't, then you won't know what you are missing!

Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi is a Must Have!
This game delivers that distinctive "Star Wars flavor" often missing in most of the other games licensed by Lucasfilm. There's alot of moves and diversity with the gameplay, which is an interesting cross-breed of Tekken and Soul Blade. The visuals are graphically stunning, with fluid animation and fascinating backgrounds taken straight from the films. The sound effects are explosively accurate and the soundtrack is pure John Williams. As an added bonus, the game features some hidden characters which were derived from popular works of Star Wars fiction. Like Mara Jade from Timothy Zahn's novels, and the bounty hunter Jodo Kast! Aside from Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, make this an addition to your Star Wars collection. Oh, and the guide by Anthony James which delineates all of the various maneuvers and combos can be helpful for new players too!

Fantastic book
Wonderfully amusing book for young children with great artwork and vivid descriptive wording. Very creative.

Oregon Trail (Tales of the Wild West Series)
Published in Audio Cassette by Bonanza Pub (November, 1986)
Author: Rick Steber
Amazon base price: $7.95
Average review score:

Good tales from the Trail
Although geared for a younger audience, I believe adults will enjoy reading this short, little book too. Each page of this 58 page booklet is a story in itself, describing the many perils and more blissful moments which the pioneers encountered along the Oregon Trail. A brief but entertaining and educational read for all ages.

WAGON TRAIN ANECDOTES
Rugged outdoorsman Rick Steber has compiled 50 of his newspaper columns into a tidy collection for history buffs, simply entitled THE OREGON TRAIL. Just 58 pages, this little gem about westward migration contains facts gleaned from letters, journals and interviews of Oregon emigrants and their descendants.

Enchanced by excellent pen and ink sketches by Don Gray, this slim volume is crammed with historical data and real life anecdotes about dozens of brave pioneers, who took the northernmost route to the Pacifc between 1843 until after the Civil War. Such a wide time span provides a variety of Trail experiences.

This book is a must-read for elementary children studying westward migration, as well as for anyone contemplating a fictionalized tale about the Oregon Trail. This first volume in Steber's Wild West Series reads as swiftly as an Indian arrow; it includes highjinks and massacres, births and death, courtship and sacrifice. Steber presents it in an easy-to-digest format, as we delve into our past. This was a time of ego and intitiative; these tales emphasize the Human element. I would like to read others in the series, whose titles are: Pacific Coast, Indians, Cowboys, Women of the West, Children's Stories, and Loggers. This series provides handy reference for students of the West, a time in our American history which fascinates people from all over the world.

Poetry with a Poroise/Fun for whole family
As a parent in today's fast paced world, we are often in a big hurry.Rushing around to get the kids off to school or to daycare so we can get to work or do damage control on the house from the previous evening's madness.Sometimes the kids suffer, we feel guilty, so we go out and do something or buy something to make us feel better about not spending enough time with our kids. Well, that's what happened to us. My 6 year old came home from school after seeing a live performance by Mr. Peoples that the P.T.A. sponsered. Needless to say, she had a flyer that talked about Mr.Peoples and the book, Poetry with a Porpoise. Oh, instuctions on how to purchase the book were also included. Imagine that! Catching me at one of those guilty moments, it didn't take much for my daughter to get me to pull out my wallet. As it turns out, buying this book and C.D. has been a true source of enjoyment not just for my daughter, but for the whole family. We were all quacking and waddling around the living room feeling kind of "SILLY", but having a blast laughing at each other. This book is fun, it's educational, it teaches the kids in many ways. My daughter has colored in most of the pictures, which has improved those skills and my wife did a few too! I think it improved her skills as well! At any rate,The next time your feeling a little guilty, for less than a trip to McDonald's for Happy Meals, BUY THIS BOOK and C.D.. The whole family will benefit.Thank You Rick and Susan!

MY KIDS LOVE IT!!
Thanks to Rick & Sue Peoples for a marvelously entertaining book! My 2 boys (5 & 7) love hearing the poems. The 7 year old is learning to read & spends hours reading "Poetry With a Porpoise". The poems make them think & make them laugh. The tape of songs & readings is a constant companion in the family van. My only warning - DON'T play your kids "The Silly" song just before they go to bed! You will hear laughing, clapping, barking, quacking & other assorted noises coming from their room for quite a while!

Helping wolves
I believe this is a cause for restoration. This book made me believe that the wolf should be released in to the Adriondack mountians. It also had me believing that the ecosystem needs the wolves to survive. I was especially fascinated by Kristen Deboer's idea of creating corridors between parks in Canada ans the northeast, to help creat migratrion routes for animals. I believet he book itself aswell was ans informative, great, intertaining read.

Wol Restoration in the east
The Return of the Wolf is an eye-opener as it gives four very distinct and honest evaluations of the possibility of our northeastern forest communities welcoming the timber wolf back to it's native haunts. Let us not confuse the eastern coyote which has hybridized with the eastern wolf as the as the easts top canid predator.....The wolf, just as in Yellowstone and Minnesota is the true predator of the moose , Caribou Elk and Beaver. The coyote, even if hybridized with wolf genes is still not a large enough creature(maximum of 70 pounds whereas the true timber wolf can be 100-150 pounds)to bring down the northeasts growing moose population and hopefully one day a restored caribou herd. Let the voice of Rick Bass,Kristen DeBoer and Bill McKibben weigh heavy.......let us set aside the lands, educate the "Little Red Riding Hood" believers and politic effectively with the state house representatives who tend to buckle to the pressure of corporations who favor short term extraction versus long term sustainability. Give the wolves the chance to push the coyotes to their rightful "fringe" of the forest allowing the true timber wolf and restored(hopefully) Cougar to stand atop the food chain as top predators of the land. Our forests have returned after 400 years of being chopped and burned.Let us stop the shopping malls and second home developments from destroying our wonderful open lands.Let the land be restored to it's glory and allow the current residents of the backwoods to continue their sustainable forestry and wsoodcraft busines while reaping some benefits from a contrulled and managed Ecotourism. What a great thing for us to have the pomeans and will to return and restore our woodlands in the most populated part of the U.S. to their former majesty. We can be a model for the conservative western United States and the emerging 3rd world countries to emulate......The Return of the Wolf speaks of all of these things and more........Fantastic writing! Rivals Charles Little storytelling in the "Dying of the trees". Please pass on to a friend.......Let the restoration of the north woods begin!

Rick Steves' French Phrase Book & Dictionary

Most practical French phrase book
I was just getting ready to buy Rick Steve's Italian phrase book and thought I'd review the French version. I've taken other phrase books with me in France, but this is the one I use and it is appropriately worn. Although I got to intermediate French in college, I did not learn how to reserve a hotel room. I first used this phrase book to make hotel reservations (even with non-English speakers). This book also helped me get gas (don't forget, sans plomb) and find English language movies with French subtitles (V.O. = version originale). I have also found Rick's phonetic French to be straightforward. This is the most practical French phrase book I've seen.

Excellent quick reference for the traveler, in any situation
Very helpful. Coded according to subject (food, accommodation, transportation), with phrases that satisfy any situation, and are sufficient to communicate without the need to use complete sentences. Gives the English, French, and French pronunciation... and many travelers books do not give the latter. Of 3 books I took with me to France, this was the one I used almost all the time, due to the ease of finding what I needed, and quickly.

Handy, up-to-date
This is a handy, up-to-date helper for people traveling on the Iberian peninsula. More than Northern European countries, some knowledge of the local language is necessary in Iberia. (Actaully, I'm speaking only from personal knowledge of Spain; I didn't travel in Portugal.) The book is divided into sections, including "Basics", "Numbers, Time & Money", "Sleeping", "Eating", "Transportation", "Sightseeing, Shoping & Entertainment", "Phoning, E-mail, Post Office & Red Tape", "Health", "Help" and "Chatting". The e-mail section both tells you how to get directions to a nearby internet cafe and translates operation terms that may appear on your screen. That's very handy if you want to use the internet to communicate with the folks back home or get messages from them while on your vacation.
Overall, I was impressed by this phrasebook and dictionary.

Excellent resource for beginners.
This book is a great resource if you meet Brazilian chicks in a bar. It really did the trick for me.
