This book will put an end to your frustration
Players of Riven know how EXTREAMELY difficult it is, with so much to find, learn and understand playing this game without a stategy guide is just plain crazy. While I played most of the game without one, after buying this it made sense of the things I had discovered. A MUST if you're having trouble figuring out the D'ni numerals (gives you all 25) and how to open the domes. A wonderful book and you don't feel like you're cheating, after all, Riven is not a walk in the park. If you want to win this game or at least have fun without the frustration, get this book. You won't be dissapointed. I promise.

ROBERT BATEMAN: AN ARTIST IN NATURE
An excellent book! I was amazed by Berman's amazing paintings and sketches of wildlife and, being an artist myself, found Berman's commentaries most enlightening. If you are an art buff or an artist, of wildlife or not, you must have this book! -- Rachel K. Clar

This is a wonderfully illustrated book for those who love nature and wildlife art and are enthusiasts of Robert Bateman. He takes us through a journey around the world to his favourite nature spots and then reveals the beauty and complexity of those sites through his inspired artwork. Science made simple!
For any child learning about the concept of sound, this book is a must! The concept itself is quite difficult for anyone to master, let alone a child. However, Don Curry has carefully chosen text and matched photos to lend to easy understandablilty. Graphic organizers are also used, albeit sparingly as not to overwhelm young readers. Written around the national standards, you cannot go wrong and your children will be pleasantly surprised!

Fun and Informative
Are you looking for interesting facts about California? Whether you're seven or seventy you'll love this book. It is written in such a way to keep young readers engaged; however, adults will appreciate the abundance of interesting facts. As an elementary school teacher, I appreciate the non-eurocentric style in which the author takes readers on a tour of the golden state. As a native Californian, I was amazed about how much more I learned from just this one book. Finally, as a parent, I was pleased to see my seven-year-old son read it aloud to me with such enthusiasm. At Amazon's low price you can't afford to miss this "golden" opportunity.

Hilarious, touching riff on rare book catalogs
Rick Moody is one of the most highly regarded young novelists in America today (the New Yorker included him in its list of the "20 best young American writers") and, as such, his first editions have come to have value in the collector's market. Moody has taken the principal vehicle for selling such first editions -- the modern rare book dealer's catalog -- and created what can only be called a novella in the form of a dealer's catalog -- a hilarious and touching self-contained world, where the values accorded to the items for sale (i.e., dollars) and the values inherent in them (i.e., their significance, artistry, passion) are continually surprising and challenging to the reader and range from the sublime to the ridiculous and all points in between. Moody has his tongue in cheek at all times, but wears his heart on his sleeve, too, and many of these items represent or embody a kind of sensitivity and tenderness that this reader found surprisingly touching in such an essentially comic take-off. Anyone who has ever enjoyed reading a rare book dealer's catalog will find this to be an extraordinary trip -- familiar, odd, even at times haunting. (I have to admit that I gave people reason to snicker by trying to order an item from it when I got my copy in the mail.)

Timeless Classic with Contemporary Twist
I enjoyed Tiny Tilda enormously. This retelling of a classic childrens' story is made all the more meaningful by the contemporary ending which teaches that hard work, independence and self-reliance as well as sharing and collaboration with others leads to success and prosperity. Tiny Tilda is a wonderful role model and encourages children that strength of character and kindness leads to good results. As a mother of a school age child and a Psychologist, I strongly recommend this book. The hysterical illustrations are a joy to look at and it is a pleasure to read.

Although it is short on feverish drama, "Rick's Story" contains much to be enjoyed and savored. The story is an evocative set piece fleshed-out with creatively integrated text and images. Despite many, sometimes subtle, back-references, anyone could enjoy this novel by itself.
