Authors: Marion C. Hyson and Marilou Hyson
Amazon base price: $40.00

A wealth of informtion on emotion in the classroom setting.
This book came out just before the term Emotional Intelligence was popularized, but it covers the same sort of issues, with the exception of the brain research. It is a good compliment to Peter Salovey's book "Emotional Development and Emotional Intelligence."

It is well written and fairly easy to read for an academic writing. It is very well supported with research findings. It presents a good model for developing an emotion centered curriculum.

Experiencing the Enneagram
If knowing why you do what you do or understanding how you see things the way you see them is important to you, this well-written, in-depth book on the ancient Sufi tradition of self-assessment is a must-have. One of the best parts of this book is the inclusion of an Enneagram Types test, located in the back of the book. It offers a 115-question test along with information on interpreting the results of the test in order to help the reader get a handle on which of the nine personality types most corresponds to their own personality. Those already aquatinted with their Enneagram Type will become more deeply aware of their own patterns, feelings, actions and authentic self as they explore the in-depth explanations presented by the authors. Those who are new to the Enneagram will be impressed with how easy to understand this complex personality tool is presented. An extra added bonus of this Christian-based book includes chapters on mapping a path for personal change, possibilities for use of the Enneagram in pastoral care, and in all relationships. My personal favorite is the chapter, "The Nine Faces of the Soul of Christ". It reflects the nine images of the Christ, and include qualities of being perfect, loveing, creative, beautiful, all-knowing, faithful, alive, almighty and reconciled.

Refreshingly Authentic
In this day and age where what seems to make it in this worldis that and those people who conform to the do's and don'ts ofcorporate America, or perhaps I ought say america with a small"a", FM is a most refreshing change that renews my belief that there are still original thinkers out there making personal and important statements that are not only artistic, but personal, cultural, politically relevant, psychologically astute and desperately needed. It is hard to hold onto the hope that individuals can grow up in this world, develop and hold onto and feel good about an authentic sense of self - so kudo's to Lisa Adams for creating this book, and for those whos work appears. I am always impressed by the work of Lauren Hartman who seems to really have found a path to her authentic self - may she never lose that, and may this book inspire others to find theirs.

Fast Food Facts
This book is exactly what it says-facts on many fast food places. It gives the nutritional content and diabetic exchanges on every item on the menu. I have ordered this book in bulk to use in diet groups that I lead. Some of the participants said it has changed the way they view fast food, and actually changed their eating choices. I recommend this book to every American who likes fast food-you should know what you are eating.
